Godgay: Nigerians should learn to take defeat graciously.... In terms of infrastructure and development growth, South Africa is leap and bounds beyond Kenya. Kenyans accept and appreciate this fact thus necessitating it as a country to emulate the model the South Africans used to get their systems currently working. You wont find Kenyans bad mouthing South Africa over petty issues like pointing out that whites built the country to its current status. Appreciating the strength of your opponent and learning from them is what any country should emulate, not pulling them down to your backwardness. Nigeria has a big GDP, but does it translate into the common Lagosians, Abujans financial status? No! Nigerians GDP provides a falls sense of per capita to the general population of Nigeria if only the entire 520B ends up in the pocket of 5% of the entire population. How comes of the 30m Lagosians 80% live in informal settlements/slums while its GDP of the city is bigger than Kenya as a country. Its time Nigeria accepted that it makes no sense to talk big on figures and numbers while the ground gives a totally different reality. 4 Likes |

Godgay: You don't know how GDP per capital works, it's an average, I hate to get mathematical, but I'll try to explain as basically as possible but this is how it works. Let's say person A gets $100,000 Person B gets $0 now divide that wealth by the both of them The average is instantly $50,000 This doesn't mean every person is getting $50,000 It just means your Nigerians elites are making way "tooo" much money so they bring up the entire average drastically. The most recent polls I can find explicitly states that 155.6 million people live in under $5. That's about 60% of your population The other 30% are living like gods making roughly 4-10 billion each, thus bringing the average up and giving people a false perception of what's really happening, including Nigerians themselves. Go boycott those 30% and demand everybody get $3,001.51 like the stats claim falsely. If you think about it for an empirical standpoint, it just means you have nicer buildings and restaurants, which adds into the delusion of grandeur and make you guys feel supreme, but are really living like Somalis. 5 Likes |

Things about kenyattas They are evasive that they would even call wikipedia a fluke They only point you have been making all this while are from your imaginations, not a single proof to backup your points Funny part when I checked Kenya economy and nigerian economy from wiki was that I couldn't read it pass all those tables Cox their economy is just so poor compared to Nigeria so I had to surf that of South Africa and there I read both SA and Nigeria from beginning till the end Cox btw the two there is a competition both running neck and neck.... Kenya is like tecno, nigeria is Samsung while SA Na apple Kenya like Leicester, nigeria man u and SA man city So pls for the last time stop talking about not having slums coz we know you gat a lot and I really can't see you exporting anything spectacular.... Just please like I did check your country economy via wiki and pls stop acting like an ignorant by saying wikipedia is a lie..... Unemployment...you be boss |

highheybee: We aren't an exporting powerhouse like Nigeria, this isn't the way to reach prosperity because eventually no one will want oil. That's not what we're claiming, idiot. We're known to trade and rely on our market, hence why we have so many malls. Our annual growth rate has passed Nigeria, which means even with all that oil, you're still below us when it comes to actual growth. Perhaps you should stop looking at how much money you guys make and start looking at the bigger picture like how all of that money is kept by a few people, and ordinary Nigerians don't even get to so much as breathe on it. Yes we have slums, but we've installed a sewage system, and if we weren't so busy with other issues we'd fix it. 3 Likes |

Is the Vice President lying or is the analytical school lying? I don't trust anything analytical information coming from there. Even if 110m nigerians are poor, it's still have more than 70m that are living well and that's almost twice the population of kenya. The problem with these people is that they reason like kids which is what they are. if not, how can they compare economy of 450b$ to their 70$? Just like because china has the second largest population of poor people then singapore will bragging to them, meanwhile everything singapore have china had it times five. |

Godgay: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-17015873 Poverty has risen in Nigeria, with almost 100 million people living on less than a $1 (£0.63) a day, despite economic growth, statistics have shown. The National Bureau of Statistics said 60.9% of Nigerians in 2010 were living in "absolute poverty" - this figure had risen from 54.7% in 2004. The bureau predicted this rising trend was likely to continue. Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer but the sector has been tainted by accusations of corruption . According to the report, absolute poverty is measured by the number of people who can afford only the bare essentials of shelter, food and clothing. https://www.ruralpovertyportal.org/web/rural-poverty-portal/country/home/.../nigeria Some 70 per cent of Nigerians live on less than US$1.25 a day. Poverty is especially severe in rural areas, where up to 80 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line, and social services and infrastructure are limited. The country's poor rural women and men depend on agriculture for food and income. https://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/nigeria_statistics.html Despite Nigeria's plentiful agricultural resources and oil wealth, poverty is widespread in the country and has increased since the late 1990s. Some 70 per cent of Nigerians live on less than US$1.25 a day. 4 Likes |

chebeoc: http://themarketmogul.com/wealth-inequality-nigeria/ Poverty in Nigeria Absolute poverty in Nigeria (earning less than a dollar a day) has increased from 55% in 2004 to 61% in 2014 and 71% in 2016 in contrast; there are almost 16,000 millionaires currently living in Nigeria representing less than 1% of the population, a 44% increase in the last 6 years. This is expected to grow to 23,000 by 2017, which represents a 47% increase. In Lagos, which is Africa’s most populous city, wealth inequality is most prominent and is home to 9,500 of these millionaires out of a population of 30m. These figures represent a huge issue with wealth distribution in the country and are attributed to a number of factors embedded within the Nigerian culture, system and policies. Contributing Factors The main factors that contribute to wealth inequality in Nigeria are corruption and high governance costs. Corruption Corruption is a major issue that is contributing to the increasing wealth gap between the rich and poor in Nigeria. Corruption has been ever present since the country’s independence in the 1960’s and it now seems to be an issue that is embedded within the Nigerian system and culture. Cost of Governance As long as corruption is embedded in the system, the cost of governance will continue to remain high. A report by the Sahara Reporters in 2012 found that it costs Nigerians $8.3 billion to pay the salaries of those in politics. In 2012, $7.4 was to be spent on developing infrastructure, but only half of this was spent towards its development. To put this into perspective, it meant that for every dollar spent on infrastructure development in Nigeria, two dollars are spent on salaries of those in politics. CONCLUSION 16,000 dollar millionaires in comparison to 180m population Nigeria spends more money on paying 5000 politicians than on 180m people Nigeria has the worst economic implementation system Nigeria has the biggest wealth disparity vis a vis GDP 4 Likes |

Bla bla bla as if that makes sense, what's poverty rate of your country or no corruption in kenya ?. with population less than 50m kenya still have poor people everywhere. Just point out one thing you have in kenya that nigeria doesn't have two to three times. Go compare your country with Ghana and likes, because i don't see anything to compare between Nigeria and that your mini state. |

If you people like tell your government to put advertisement of your country on Cnn nobody care.until i see someone that'll convince me that it's easier to be a dollar millionaire in kenya than Nigeria then I'll take that place as a country. For now Me and many well to-do Nigerians see that place as backward place. |
