KANO- DSS Operative Friday afternoon in Kano raided Bureau de change spots and arrested no fewer than 40 currency dealers.

Eyewitness, Umar Iliya told Vanguard that the operative stormed the Wapa area at about noon, seized selected men and took them away in security van.

The witness said the operation causes stir culminating in a pandemonium before their identity was revealed.
Vanguard learnt that simultaneously, another group currency dealers were arrested at the Aminu Kano International Airport, as well few others at Central hotel general area of the city.

Although the DSS official are quiet over the operation, but the Auditor General of Association of Currency Dealers, in Kano, AbdulHamid Kabeer confirmed the incident.

According to Kabeer “they arrested over 40 of our members in an operation that barely lasted half an hour.”

He disclser that “we are derply troubled over this unfortunate incident, and as I talk to you an emergency meeting is the offing to determi

lolzz will this force the dollar to be @ par with the already weak naira? Something is not right here, monetary policies should be put in place, instead of force force force.

Ofcourse the blame goes to Mr Buhari, if the policies he adopted are flexiable anofe, there will be no need for the DSS raiding currency exchangers, a quick question, name any pasted govt in Nigeria, that has suceeded in using this approach to bring down the exchange of the naira to the dollar...

Watch out, if this raid continues, by december-january next year, dollar will exchange for 500+ to d dollar

Those mallams needed a curbing. A colleague and I argued that Buhari should let the forces of demand and supply dictate, it happened that we were wrong.

Travelex sells to BDCs at N380, any BDC found selling at 460 should be rounded up.

The normal things that work in saner climes don't always work in Nigeria except by iron fist and curtain rule.
