let A represent suitcase
B represent tabloid
C represent books

A + A = 20, Therefore A = 10
A * B = 20, therefore B = 2
C / B = 10, therefore C = 20

A - B * C = ??
substituting,
10 - 2 * 20 = ??, BODMAS rule
10 (-2*20) = ??
10 (-40) = ??
10 - 40 = -30. answer

2 for the Newspapers (1 for each)
8 for the books ( 2 for each book)
10-2 * 8

-22

update: my answer is -6

10 - 2 x 8 = - 6 (each book = 2, each newspaper = 1, each portfolio = 10)

note: equation (2) contains 2 newpapers,
equation (3) contains 5 books and 1 newspaper,
equation (4) contains only 4 books and 2 newspapers
You're wrong.
Each book=10
Each paper=2
Each briefcase= 4

10-2*16 = -22

I too know book is worrying you grin

this is a simple test similar to the ones we did in Jss 3, back in those day, the examiner is not interest in how good you are in maths but how well you can observe, so look at the picture again and see clearly, its two Newspaper and not one, also 4 books and not 5
