well i'm not for all this dicck measuring contest nigeria and kenya have areas we are both strong in and areas we could do better in. kenya has a vibrant tourist and coffee industry while nigeria's entertainment (music & movies) and telecom industry is quite massive.

I've observed that Kenyans have been fabricating story and even using Wikipedia as a source. It so unfortunate that Kenyans are dull.

I might start uploading bad news from Kenya too if Kenyans can not explicitly state why Kenya is a better country.

I know how to attack too and I promise I will hit you hard with you own news.

We all know Kenya and bad news are like bread and butter.

Get over yourself and act like you stepped into a class once in your life.
What is the essence of the internet if quoting reliable sources that hold no bias at all. What Nigerians have posted here are variously spread out structures while Kenyans have been sticking to infrastructural structures. I'm not supporting the Kenyans or South Africans on this forum posting the ills of Nigeria, can never do that but I think you should have started by rebuking your countrymen.

The thread started by a Nigerian noting that Kenya might be ahead of Nigeria in development. Kenyans naturally supported the statement with facts but then some Nigerians started badmouthing Kenya. The Kenyans responded in kind and somehow, South Africa was tagged into this isht. Some Nigerian once more grumbled about South Africa and things regarding that went south quickly. A wrong of course doesn't correct another wrong but the 1st wrong doer started all this and should be rebuked 1st

There are only 2 or 3 banks from nigeria in kenya - who are making losses - and will close shop soon. They came and reckless bought dying small banks. Ecobank and UAB. They are on their death bed - found nimble kenyan banks with 10 branches - and now after wasting their money- are closing branch after branch.

Kenya is no joke. There is not any other nigeria company i know. Dangote came, saw and ran away to TZ and Ethiopia. Brutal would be the competition.

kenya is free market economy. Nobody ration dollars or will prevent you from repatriating profit - just pay taxes and you're good to go. Come today and we give your a bloody nose. The 2 or 3 nigeria banks in kenya are really bleeding - will re-capitalize - and re-capitalize -before realizing what Southern African companies long did - kenya is no go zone.

Our coffee industry is not doing so well btw, but we are still a major exporter. I think we are the leading tea exporters in ze vorld, also one of the top horticultural exporters too.

Ideally with all that oil - there should be no competition. Kenya respect Angola - who in 10yrs have really done great. We admire South African boers for doing great. Kenya is very corrupt but not fatalistic. We are incredibly hardworking and well educated compared to average african including black south african. I honestly don't know what is wrong with Nigeria. At least Congo are ever in wars. Nigeria is big paradox.

Kenya coffee long went south - but kenya still produce the highest quality of coffee beans. Kenya tea kick arse just like our agriculture would make nigeria weep tears here.

East and central africa - nigeria depend on southern africa brands - from mtn to shoprite - and all the brands out there in the less shady pictures are screaming SOUTH AFRICA. Outside dangote - and big banks (again after forced merger) - nigeria has nothing. First kick out Southern African brands - and you can reach kenya level of business sophistication.

And don't kick them out by ridiculous fines of 5B dollars like you tried on MTN grin grin - money that your entire army cannot dream of ever getting. Fair competition.

You look at kenyan pictures - and come here and list - all southern africa or foreign brands.

How do you plan to build the world class infrastructure (roads, railways, ports, power stations) and pay for decent salaries like south africa or egypt if you don't pay taxes - and all of your are just sitting there waiting for petrodollars - which is mere 9-10B usd per annum.

Safaricom alone pay taxes amount to nearly 500M usd - and here is 180-200m country all watching the price of oil like a life -n-death issues.

You cannot be serious.

God help this Foool.

Must you disturb yourself about things you can't comprehend?

Nigeria is too complex for you Kenyans.

Nigerian economy and most developmental project is controlled by private sector. Even with 5 billion dollar budget Nigeria will survive. Most capital projects is in the hands of private sector not public sector. We don't depend on government.

For example,

Entertainment industry
Telecommunications
Agriculture
Transport
Industry
Housing
Oil and Gas
Power
Health etc

Most sectors of the economy is currently in control of private investors of which most are Nigerians. Even dangote is currently investing another $20 billion in Nigeria. Many other Nigerians are doing the same as we speak. THAT ALONE IS BIGGER THAN THE LARGEST PROJECT IN KENYA SINCE INDEPENDENCE.

For your information, Nigeria get as much as 90billion dollars from sales of oil when oil was sold at over a hundred dollars to a barrel but will still settle stakeholders, state government, and local government from the money before federal government can declare what they earned.
Tell us where you got your figures from? How did Nigeria generate 9-10 billion dollars from Oil.

Stop quoting me again cause am tired of your level of Ignorance. Am even tire of the thread because you guys don't know where you stand.

Nigeria have 22 commercial banks and 18 of them are in top 100 banks in Africa while one stupid Kenyan is here comparing Kenyan banking system with Nigerian banks.

Claims from twin earthquakes in Nepal on April 25 and May 12 last year ate into the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation's half-year profit through June, the firm reported yesterday. The East and Central Africa's largest reinsurer – with presence in 62 countries in Africa, Asia and Middle East – said it was among the risk-takers hardest hit by the catastrophes. Kenya Re, owned 60 per cent by the state, said it has paid about Sh450 million in claims so far. http://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2016/08/31/nepals-earthquakes-hurt-kenya-re-profits_c1411766

A few lessons to my Nigerian brodas out there, the easiest way to resuscitate your Oil dependent economy is by first strengthening local brands and consumerism led economy. The bigger the purchasing power of the ordinary Nigerian the better for the local brands and institutions. For example the Kenyan economy took a big turn around by patronizing local products right from basic commodities, banking institutions, horticulture products, agricultural food crop and manufactured goods.

BANKING INSTITUTIONS
Equity bank- Kenyan
KCB- Kenyan
CBA- Kenyan
Co-operative Bank- Kenyan
Bank of Baroda-Kenyan

Will Dangote help build your roads so you don't end up displaying those whack roads in your naija movies, your power ( so you don't have to be as grumpy as an old rickety generator noisily humming in your compound), army (so boko haram doesn't kidnap your kids and ran over the town) - name all important gov services - that private sector cannot do.

Kenya has more vibrant private sector - but clearly it's public sector is also not badly off.

What a prick! It not my fault that Nigeria federal budget is mere 30B - find out what South Africa national budget is- and be ashamed of your 500B entertainment GDP.

South Africa has nearly 130-150B usd annual budget - which explain why it's world class country - with world class infrastructure, working gov and welfare for it's poor.

You haven't given evidence to support your statement of Nigerian companies being all over, yet you ask for Kenyan companies'. I'll give an example in each sub-sector anyway

-kenolkobil is the largest downstream oil Company in the region with operations in 11 countries
-BIDCO, with operations in 16 countries is the largest producer, marketer and retailer of consumer goods in Africa
-Safal group is Africa's largest producer of steel roofing with operations in 11 countries.
-Kenya Airways is one of Africa's largest airline company with operations in almost every African capital (44 destinations in Africa, 54 in total)
-KCB and Equity, Kenya's largest banks have operations in 7 & 6 countries in Eastern Africa respectively
-Nakumatt and Uchumi the 2 largest retailers from Kenya have operations in 6 (mostly East African) countries
-EABL has installations in 6 countries in East and Southern Africa but sells it's products (mostly Tusker) as far as US and Australia
-Serena Hotels has luxury resort outlets in Eastern and Southern Africa and also in Central and South East Asia (Pakistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan with another planned for India)
-Britam group, à company offering insurance, asset management, banking and property investment has operations in 7 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa
-Centum investment Co, a holding Co dealing with virtually everything has operations in 10+ Countries all over the continent. It even owned Nigeria's African Capital Alliance but sold it's stake last year.
-Brookside dairies has installations and acquisitions in 8 nations including Nigeria

There are more I don't know but will add when I get to know them. You give Nigerian examples in as many sectors as you can.

Naija gdp from naija stats office is as believable as naija yahoo email. It is not supported by anything except horse manure called entertainment (nollywood shocked). Quick cross-referencing with pseudo-data will dissuade you from believing that big lie out there -that Naija wobbly economy is bigger than Egypt or South Africa - what were they smoking grin. Kenya GDP per-capita is now 1,500 Usd. Nairobi GDP is way bigger than that coz Nairobi account for anything 30-50% of Kenya GDP.

DRC Congo is long overdue for re-basing - and I hope they will also include their Lingala music as economic sector - so we can have mighty laugh!

If we merged out 45 kenyans banks to 15 banks - we will create big naija like banks - but our banking industry will be poorer. How much monie grin do you make from exporting music to africa in this big entertainment sector of your economy. Can those muscian pay their income tax - or you believe their phoney lifestyles. Dude every africa country has their own local music - always had - nobody goes counting that shit as serious economic sector. It only for entertainmentsmiley
