mufutau55: Oga Hajj and everyone here, Thank you so much for these constructive argument and enlightenment . I have saved pictures of that generator; that's exactly what I need.my level no reach those big diesel generators at allllll for now; I will rather stick with having the circuit breakers that shut off all AC in the house when PHCN behave. we will sleep with fan or at least one horse power AC. I am a realist and strongly believe that self deceit is the worse form of ignorance. I know my level and will go for something that I can easily service, repair and "if" anything happen which I don't pray for, I will not develop BP because of something I bought with hard earned money. I am not in any way discrediting anyone's opinion but what matters is what makes you and family happy and content. BTW solar system will be a must have for me in future; and I will still stick with an affordable capacity that can power all lights, fan, tv and at least one table top fridge. Two things are my priority,1. To ensure light shines both inside the house and the compound 24/7. 2. Have fan/air purifier to sleep with. Other things are secondary. Oga Hajj, how do I recognize a genuine dealer of that generator and avoid imitation. Once again, thanks everyone as we keep the thread rolling for information purposes... chai, I didn't even know say the thing go Comot this numerous responses. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Empiree: So this is imported from China. Other than price, is this up to standard of the ones produced locally by Tower or First Alum? |

folmus:I dont live around. I was forwarded the quote. So i dont know if it is imported or local product |

mufutau55: Please, what is the capacity of this generator?. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by mavverick: 11:48am On Nov 30, 2016 |
If you look at the Gen, there should be a section there which gives an indication of the load (specification). The one below is my Gen, and 6,500 watts equates to about 6.5Kv using a power factor of 1, but I would not be comfortable putting more than 5Kv load on it. As per noise, Haji I think we have difference tolerance levels for noise (lol). I have seen/heard silent Gens and although this my Gen is Firman, I dont think its that mega quiet, but in Nigeria terms I guess it is. Most commercial/Office/Supermarket/Shopping centres buildings in the UK especially where a data centre is present, would have a generator (mainly Caterpillar, Cumins and Perkins) as backup, when I have been in buildings running generator test etc, I have hardly heard them. They are similar to the ones shown in the K1 house etc, and that to me is my desired standard. NL1960:

Empiree: The analogy is.. Everything is imported through Lagos port. Then it's transported to places. That's why it's costlier in the East. Or so I thought.. Until I went far North and discovered that the difference between Lagos price and North id just about 100 naira. The difference between Lagos and the East / South South can be between 500-1000 naira |

KolaShangOne: @KolaShangOne, what will you advise a client? To keep his money and save for the two popular brands or go for the cheaper Chinko imported? Thank you |

Truthinlife: When I want to buy something that I know nothing about, I usually do a lot of research. So when I was ready to buy this Generator, I heard there are lots of Sumec Firman running around in various stores, so I contacted the manufacturer in China direct to give me their true Agent in Lagos, Nigeria because I don't want Aba made. They gave me the guys name and info. I bought it from him... I will look for his details now and post. Hajji M. 1 Like |

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by FastShipping: 5:54pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
mufutau55: With that 7.2KVA capacity, he should not exceed 5KVA loads for maximum power and output. Because it is 7.2KVA doesn't mean he should load the generator close to that capacity. |

mavverick: More reason all these generators have levels. They are not all of the same quality. Mine can be more silent than yours even though they are of the same brand. The most quiet brand of portable generator I have heard is a Honda at an event, and not be small money o. See pics below. Hajji M. 1 Like

mufutau55: The best portable generator on the planet at the moment. It cost about $5000. It is super quiet. You can't hear its noise from 15 feet away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBg7_AGRpbY |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by mufutau55(m): 6:08pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
FastShipping: I said base it on that watts not on the 8.2kva. When you overload the gen you will hear the high change in the sound then you know you are approaching the limit. My manual does not say 5kva, so I stand on the 7.2kva. It's always load at your own risk. Hajji M. |

mufutau55:What if someone chooses to buy 60KVA like k1 but doesnt really have much appliances or load on it, what happens in this case?. More comfortable or has negative effect?. |

Empiree: Wait no more: This is the guy they gave me directly from China. I have nothing to do with any of them o. But I bought mine and some of my friends bought theirs from there too. Summec Flagship Store 19 Olowu Street, off Awolowo Road, Ikeja - Lagos. His name as I know it is: Mr. Chuddy at 08033151381 Also on WhatsApp. Website: www.ezechuddy.com.ng I have seen same brands from Konga.com, founai.com.ng and others but I don't know how genuine. @Kopell (Is yours quiet too?, please chime in) Hajji M. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by FastShipping: 6:22pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
mufutau55: Stop watching it. Go and grab yours. I have decided to buy one for keep just in case. I made enquiry about 20kva Mikano today and was told it is now 3.8 Million Naira. Nigeria has gone to the dogs. They claim this same generator was sold for 2 Million Naira earlier this year. |

FastShipping:5k?. The price is equivalent to the big ones. How many KVA is this?. Does it do the same job as those?. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by FastShipping: 6:34pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
Empiree: This Honda is only 7KVA. $5000 is only 2M+. The big ones are in the region of 8-12 Million Naira for 40-60kva. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by mufutau55(m): 6:39pm On Nov 30, 2016 |

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by FastShipping: 6:41pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
Honda EB 10,000 without inverter. More noisy and more powerful. 9KVA output. Sold for the same price as ei7000. 12KVA Yamaha $4000 12 KVA American made generator for $750. This one is an option to really consider.

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by FastShipping: 6:43pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
mufutau55: There is no way I pay 3.8 Million Naira for 20KVA generator. I rather go with the 9KVA Honda generator selling for $5000. The only issue is the noise. I have been looking at the alternative options in the last one hour. 3.8 Million naira won't work for me. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Empiree: 6:52pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
FastShipping:really?. But i see big ones like those (not sure if they are brand new) but saw the price for #1.5 and #2m respectively. Didnt know they are that expensive. Thats why it makes sense to me to buy 60KVA. I better rethink fast fast |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by FastShipping: 6:58pm On Nov 30, 2016 |
Empiree: Those ones you saw are used generators. They are in property section going for 800k to 1.5 Million Naira. I don't want to consider those at all. 1 Like |
