deantimes: Wow, this is a ploy to pass a bill to include Sharia Criminal codes into the constitution. Who needs Ecclesiastical Courts? The New Testament Bible teaches Christians to turn the other cheek when assaulted on the other cheek, that's forgiveness. How about Esun Court? Ogboni, and Atheist courts? Nigeria has been barstadized by religious extremists from one particular religion. 1 Like |

courage89: Loooool, you are preaching to people whose soul, mind and body are occupied by crude oil from the Nigerdelta. All the religious extremism in Nigeria are politically motivated. The end game is one religion of northern Nigeria dominating to take over government processes with control of proceeds from crude oil in the Nigerdelta. Is Nigeria the only country in Sub-Saharan Africa that has large number of Muslims? The frenzy to include Sharia Criminal codes in Nigeria's constitution is behind all these new preoccupation with religious laws in the National Assembly. |

These people are not slick!!! Even a newborn can see through this act... Christian court? Maka why? Mr Dung has too much time on his hands!! I hope this is not a backhanded attempt to smuggle Sharia into national jurisprudence!!![/quote] The northern christians need to align with bethrens in the south. They lack exposure & because of poverty are more comfortable with the heathens. This bill is irrelevant & has no spiritual nor biblical significance. Christians should not be cowed to a corner. We're all nigerians. The christian pligrimage which is more of a tourist than spiritual exercise refers. |

MENELIK1: You dont get the picture, do you? What the question brings to the fore is, what court will preside over a case in a multiethnic and mutltireligious country like Nigeria without been bias? Worst still what will become of the civil court when most of tag most civil offences to religion? Premature minds stay off |

discusant: Funny enough Niger with 90% muslim population doesnt do half the foolishness with religious based laws like Nigeria. They don't have sharia in Niger republic and they didn't spawn boko haram. They just like their lives. People blame them for. Yes they do have tensions but culturally they seem to be in line with being Secular people. When I say spawn boko haram the savages grew then expanded in Nigeria then moved north to get people from Chad and Niger. The only major issue with Niger republic is bad economic policies and being cassel state of France imo. |

This I know the Muslim's won't raise an eyebrow, however, let it be the other way round, you would have witnessed unprecedented campaign of calumny, always feeling unsecured. When you have nothing to offer and still hell bent on holding the hands of people who have meaningful things to do..... What kind of complex do we call that? |

EazyMoh: Imitation is one of the best forms of flattery; yes indeed let them have it; Muslims won't oppose it. Sadly, this also exposes a growing negative mindset of envy, jealousy and rivalry that Nigerian Christians seem to have against Muslims. Note how they'll try their damn best to deprive Muslims of what is due to them; and if they fail, then they'll quickly turn around and shamelessly claim the same equivalent for themselves: First they opposed govt subsidy for Muslim pilgrimage; when they failed, they turned around and quickly also claimed same for them to go to Jerusalem - even though such pilgrimage is not a fundamental requirement in Christianity as it applies to Muslims in Islam. Secondly, they opposed the Hijab for women, especially for school girls as part of their uniforms; wherever they fail, they have been claiming the right for their children to also wear ecclesiastic dress to school - in order to spite and compete with Muslims. Thirdly, they fought bitterly against the Sharia and failed woefully; now they are yet again shamelessly trying to claim similar for themselves - how shallow and childish. LOL, let the copycats have their law, hopefully we will soon see them start enforcing Moses laws and the 10 commandments on themselves - wow that'll be wonderful! Next they'll also be copying Muslims and removing their shoes and performing ablutions before entering their churches for Sunday service. 2 Likes |

I'm a Christian but I do not like this one bit. While I agree tbe ecclesiastical courts will not be as damming and over-reaching as thr Sharia Courts, I believe this idea was conceived in bad faith and will further shorten our religious tolerance. Nigeria is a secular state for heavens sakes. High time religion is done away with |
