Very important post. Even the Russians use light skin pick-up trucks in combat. This goes to show that no military on earth can fully deploy only in armoured vehicles. It is simply not possible.

"The Defense Ministry confirmed that it has deployed a group of UAZ Patriot pickups equipped with Kord 12.7 mm heavy machine guns and AGS-17 grenade launchers to the war-torn country.

The first Russian UAZ Patriot light utility vehicles were
spotted in Syria in February 2016. The new
vehicles are used for urban combat, attack and pursue the
enemy in the desert, cover humanitarian convoys, which are regularly shelled, on the roads of Syria, and deliver
ammunition to friendly checkpoints.

N/B. Pick-up trucks in Nigerian army service are classified as type B vehicles.

Training, I don't think there is any navy in Sub-Saharan Africa that conducts more large scale training exercises than the Nigerian navy. The Navy's exercise are usually massive.

In terms of large scale exercises, the Nigerian navy conducts 6 or 7 large exercises each year.

We usually start the year with Exercise Prosperity, Followed by Exercise Obangame, Exercise Nemo, Exercise Opia Toha follows after Nemo, then Exercise Eagle Eye and then we close with Exercise Treasure Guard.

1 large scale exercise every 2 months.

In my opinion, i think we need 4 more ships in the Karaduwa class. 40 - 60 meters, to provide us enough turn around presence in the Gulf.

Its a great tempo to keep to, hope NAF and AHQ are watching and learning. One one hand, can NN keep the tempo up as more capital ships eventually join the fleet, remembering how recurrent expenditure is already a large budget component? On the other, isnt it high time DHQ began organizing more large-scale tri-service exercises?

the design of the body work,painting e.t.c is what makes it unique,if we could harness and fund those talented individual.one day we could have own brand made in kenya

Older ships would naturally be replaced by more efficient newer ships. If we continue on our localisation path, we would have a harmonised fleet in a certain class, again this means reduced operating cost.

We would have to wait and see how things pan out.

Can anyone tell me where exactly are Nigeria 6 Gazelle Helicopters. They seem to just vanish into the air. All NAF aerial bombing in the NE and SS are undertaken by NAF MI-35 and to some extent Augusta helicopter

Causation =/= correlation

Apart from the Marines at Tartus, and Aerospace self defense units at Khmeimim air-base the rest of combat units on the ground are Spetznas from GRU and SVR RF.

So yes, shock-horror, unconventional forces use unconventional vehicles.

Stop making excuses, and stop commenting on things you arent up to speed on.

Most of the time, you drop your brain somewhere, and drag your stupidity over to this thread to comment. The link clearly states what they are doing there, in combat.

I implore you to carry your brains along, anytime you feel like commenting here.

On the contrary I don't think a day will pass without me viewing this thread. Just that you guys are awesome and I can't contribute anything to my Superiors.

Back to my question, the Gazelles were armed and took part in series of combact in 2014. We saw a lot of them flying over Yola, but of recent their distinctive shape and sound have disappeared. So I was thinking probably they are undergoing certain upgrades somewhere.

Did you read my comment? Did you comprehend my comment? No you did not. You just responded with a petulant insult, your butt clenched so tight you were unable to comprehend what I posted.

I did not deny they are in combat, what I said is that they are being used by S.F

How does this show that Russia cannot get armor into Syria?

Further, who does this justify Nigeria giving its regular troops soft skinned vehicles?

Causation =/= Correlation

Take your jingoistic nationalism (and weak excuses) to the other thread.

Only an Airman or a personnel based in Yola can actually confirm the status of the Gazelles. I don't want to speculate.

In my opinion, the Gazelle isn't the type of helicopter the military needs.

The Gazelles are a short term solution to a short term problem. That's how i see it.
