@bolded Is your sense of understanding distorted because of Dalung? What does "proving a point" got to do with me posting news unrelated to discussions most times?

I post news.... That's a fact. Or you wanna water it down too??
...................
@second bolded.... Hahahahahaha... So this is what it's all about... Looollll Oga... Last time, you were fed a humble pie.... You missed it on why Jordan was termed "Air Jordan". All over the internet, answers and history agree with mine. It was always about his "air-time" wrt his dunking prowess. Always about Michael's AIR-TIME. smiley so eat that... wink

................
@third bolded.... Yeah... That's because you've exhausted your laughable defence of Dalung. I ask again... Did you or did you not bother to check on one of the links you asked me to give you? Or the truth is that hard to swallow in your blind defence of a two-faced monster?

I believe in saying things as it is. You believe in defending a man and according him respect just because he's sports minister. How funny.

Blah blah blah! On this thread? Who doesn't post to prove their point? Chai the lenghts people go to be right. I have proved u wrong before and i didn't get a single naira from it so i don't care if i prove u wrong. Now i'm simply replying ur post there isn't anything else to talk about.

Hello gentlemen and ladies on this thread! Your patriotism, I mean all the regular writers, give me positive goosebumps daily. I doff my hat to you all.

You've all earned my respect. Please permit me to cup in something.

A few people here might know me outside Nairaland. I really ask a out of questions directly from the administrators of our football and our country's sports. My reasons are fueled by the belief that Sports and Football, if allowed to thrive optimally, would not only feed our people as a collective source of National income, but would contribute as much as 20-30% of our GDP.

Bosco, I'm sorry if some of my contribution bursts your argument, as I really appreciate your sturdy defence of your position; but in truth, the Super Falcons didn't return to Nigeria in the same flight as Minister Dalung and President Pinnick.

I have spoken directly with these men at the helm of our football affairs. There was a chartered flight - but it didn't cost 42 million anything. It was a private plane of a friend of the Chief. All he paid was operational costs - that's some money to the pilot and for aviation fuel - which in his exact words, was less than $4000. Now was this done with federation/NFF money? No. NFF hasn't received cash from the government since June anyway. In this period, they have played - and financed super eagles games as well as the Papua + Cameroun tournaments. Rohr's $43,500 salary has also been regularly paid. So ask how these men in charge of our football have gone about it.

Wait a minute, sponsorships have dried out as of today. Recession is hitting hard and companies who are indeed downsizing daily, have less cash for sponsorships. So you can imagine how these men are raising this cash.

Questions have been asked about the $80,000 AWC win largesse from CAF. As of today, that money is yet to be received by the NFF. Let's call to mind however, that it would first go into the FG's TSA before routing to the Federation.

In relating with the NFF communications department, I found out that the return of the AWC winning team is handled and funded by CAF - and not the federation.

You all know however, that the federation president, Mr Pinnick was on hand to receive them in Lagos on arrival and had sufficiently related with one of NFF sponsors, in this case, EMZOR Pharmaceuticals, to organise a brief reception for the ladies and they also received N50,000 per person.

Now, this is in addition to N500,000 received by each player just before the semi final game against South Africa.

Permit me to stop writing here friends.

pls I had an argument with a friend on why Kanu Nwankwo was one of d best striker to have come out of Nigeria that w always be on my S/E xi but my friend disagreed that cannot w never make his S/E xi,citing his reasons like 87 appearances wit 12 goal,5 Afcon,3 W/C without a goal.

He said i should do my research and i did thorough research on d past and present S/E attacking players with Rasheed Yekini 58 app/37 goals,Segun Odegbami 46 app/23goals,Yakubu Aiyegbeni 57/21 goals,Obafemi Martins 41 app/18,Samson siasia 51 app/16 goals,Aghaowa 32 app/14 goals,Daniel Amokachie 44 app/13 goals,Ahmed Musa 60 app/11 goals,Osase Odewengie app 63/10 goals,Amuneke 27 app/9 goals,Victor Moses 27 app/9 goals,Emenike 37 app/9 goals,Victor Ikpeba 31 app/7 goals,Ideye 27 app/6 goals,Finidi 62 app/6 goals,Agali 12 app/5 goals,Babaginda 36 app/5 goals.

After this,i told him Kanu has more assists than any Nigeria player which he disagreed, citing Amokachie, Siasia and Finidi as d best in assists in super eagle history.

I told him look this guy won Africa footballer of d year twice,he said Ikpeba won it also,is Ikpeba rated than Okocha or Amokachie when w talk of super eagles.

Pls house what really make Kanu so special that he was so valuable to super eagle during his playing career coz i respect his talent than any other Nigeria striker.
Kanu assisted a lot of goals and won so many penalties someone like Okocha scored. If it was now, stat softwares would have picked on his chances created, build up to goals started, etc. All these were not available then.

Kanu was a great player.

So becos of ur dislike for him u are willing to overlook clear facts? I am not into politics boss at all so fall back with the Buhari apoligist talk. The world cup comment was not so bad it just should not have come from the minister but u can't tell me Nigerians are not hungry or that u know for a fact that the world cup has not been rigged in the past. Everytime someone disagrees on this thread it is straight to personal bashing why na? Why can't we just agree to disagree? Well i know that u guys know i'm right that's wat counts. I had been willing to drop this topic if not for the lies people are spreading, i just can't stand fake news or mischievious understanding of the news.

Don't you remember when England scored a goal against Germany that was ruled out? Does that mean that Germany has a higher hand in the affairs of FIFA than England? Gbam!!! Lie spotted!!

You said it was about his dunks!!! And only his dunks!!!! I initially mentioned his primary and different dynamic positions on-court to enable him get into his scoring/dunking positions to buttress my point about his air-jordan tag based on his position(s) on the court (when in action).

Then when you pressed and thought you've humbled me by telling me the reason for his air-jordan tag being "just his dunking prowess"... I laughed and said, "actually it's not specifically about his dunks BUT HIS AIR-TIME showcased in executing his dunks and leaps from the freethrow line area when going for the basket."

Then you went on to disprove what I said by mentioning other dunkers who "slept in the air".... You even brought in Vince Carter all in attempt to disprove my "Air-time" answer.... Loooolllll

Oga... Haba.... Why you too dey lie like this? smiley

So calling me a Buhari apologist is pet talk? We all know FIFA at least was crooked and when u r found guilty people always accuse u of other things. It was an attack on FIFA i don't see why u should get worked up over that. If he said the eagles were not good enough to win a world cup i would be part of the mob but i can't defend FIFA. U talk Germany but they already have been found guilty of buying their world cup. Look at the Russian olympic situation, these things have been going on for year. U can't tell me that u are 100 percent sure the world cup has never been rigged before.

Nwankwo "Papillo" Kanu....... smiley

Some of the big ogas in the house have answered you. Would have loved to hear Elder Icon4s' view shaa before I talk but your question don tey so make I drop my own, no matter how little.

We all know Kanu is Nigeria's most decorated and most successful footballer of all time. He even sits behind Eto'o in the all-time list of Africa's most decorated footballers.

But we speak on what made him so invaluable and so special. What made Kanu "King" smiley
..................................

Kanu did not score a lot of goals in the Green and White of the Super Eagles BUT MOST-TIMES, WHENEVER HE DID SCORE, IT WAS ALWAYS MAGICAL AND "EARTH-SHAKING". smiley

@Atlanta 96, Kanu's goals in the semifinals against Reigning World Champions at the time, Brazil sent ripples through out Africa and the rest of the world. His goals that day have gone on to be one of the top 5 greatest moments in our football history.

@Afcon 2004 in Tunisia, Kanu's ingenious assist from deep in midfield to John Utaka "the attacker" brought about the downfall of an eternal enemy in the indomitable lions of Cameroun.

Prior to that game The Super Eagles have NEVER BEATEN CAMEROUN IN AN AFCON MATCH THAT REALLY MATTERED.

We had beaten Cameroun only once before 2004 in Afcon meetings but that came in the game for third-place at the Senegal '92 Afcon.

We had suffered heartbreaks against Cameroun en-route to the trophy in 1984, 1988 and 2000.

Cameroun became known as our bogey-men of the Afcon but on that day in 2004, something grand happened.

The Ever magical Genius of Okocha brought us level from that beautifully taken free-kick after Eto'o had put Cameroun ahead. First half finished 1-1 and it seemed only a moment of absolute brilliance will win this..... THEN CAME THAT MOMENT smiley

Kanu got the ball from Okocha (I think?), then with his Eagle Vision, which some didn't think he had for a forward, he spotted the positioning of Utaka and the space ahead of him. With that, he sent a sweet long ball into Utaka's path and the rest was history. CAMEROUN FELL THAT DAY AND IT WAS DOWN TO KANU'S GENIUS IN THAT ONE MOMENT THAT WON US THAT GAME. Utaka's finishing did the Job but Kanu's genius from a position that is naturally not his habitat, made that job easy for the finisher.

I recall celebrations on the streets of lagos that day. I remembered how Obasanjo himself put a call through after such earth-shaking victory and to the rest of Africa, Nigeria were champions-in-waiting because we had just knocked out the best team in Africa and then, defending champions. We ended that Camerounian golden generation. We buried our worst nightmare at the Afcon..... Cameroun. And Kanu again was at the center of that remarkable story.

@Port-harcourt.... 2006 WCQ vs Gabon(?).... I don't know who remembers this game but I will always remember it. smiley

It was a game that I believe (I'm not too sure officially) set the record for the shortest time spent on the pitch to produce a MOTM PERFORMANCE.

Only one man could have achieved such... Yep... His name is KANU. smiley

Nigeria badly needed a win and the Gabonese proved a hard nut to crack. It stayed goalless till late in the minutes of the 80s until MAGIC HAPPENED.

Kanu was brought into the fray with 8mins remaining (added time included I think) and PRODUCED A MASTERCLASS PERFORMANCE THAT BROUGHT DOWN THE WALL OF THE GABONESE. He first worked his way from the right wing and played in a tempting ball which found Julius Aghahowa and it was 1-0 all of a sudden. Tension died away, Nigeria finally had a goal.

Just when you thought it will stay that way, Kanu popped up again but this time he became the goal-scorer himself. What a goal he scored. He placed his shot to the left of the goalkeeper as calmly as you please. 2-0 and final whistle blew a couple of seconds later.

In just 8mins, Kanu came in and brought Nigeria back from a deathly situation. HE NAMED OFFICIAL MAN OF THE MATCH WITH A GOAL AND AN ASSIST IN JUST 8MINS OF FOOTBALL. IT COULD ONLY BE KANU. smiley

He was a master of the assists (always giving assists or second-assists» the pass before the pass that leads to goals).

He was a conjurer of magic on the pitch and a leader who struck fear in the heart of opponents because you never knew when "THE KANU MAGIC" could kick in... Loollll

...........................

I can go on and on and even make mention of his performance against Chelsea. A video I have watched countless times. A performance which saw him score a hattrick in fifteen mins.

Or is it his heroics for a modest side like Portsmouth which saw him score the vital goals in both the semis and the final itself to help them lift the English F.A. Cup.

In finality, Sir Elder Kog45.... KANU WAS JUST CLASS... WORLD CLASS.... He was really special.... He was indeed King. smiley

I cannot cease from saying the truth Safarigirl.... He wanna act tough and dignified while defending incompetence and lies.

DrTee1's post just destroyed his arguments but will he back down? Lord knows.

Is it a crime to say someone is lying when actually one is? It's annoying that he stood up for Dalung and his foolishness and went on and on about defending something he's absolutely ignorant about. Really not cool hence a need to set the records straight.

This is not about being right or agreement.... It is about Truth (some people on here cannot wait to catch me off-guard one day. They seem annoyed that I always seem to be in the right. It's not my fault. I always strive to be true about issues but in matters of keen opinion, there will always be different views. That's acceptable. But in Yes/No issues, This-is-how-it-is issues, etc, There must be Truth and there always must be a lie).

About pettiness, He is the one bringing in "You always think you're never wrong" comments..... Isn't that petty of him? What do those comments got to do with anything about Dalung... He resorted to subtle petty remarks coz he knew he was on the wrong side of things. His Ego and pride didn't let him see things right and he started getting petty and all worked up.

In finality, It's never foolishness when standing up for what you know is so true.

NIGERIAN PLAYERS WRAP: Mikel Show Class,
Top Marks For Ndidi,Onazi, Akpoguma Booked Again, Agbo Subbed

The weekend games in various European Leagues started yesterday with some Nigerian players in action for their respective teams.

Owngoalnigeria.com bring to you, a review of how they fare for their respective teams as we
continue to track the performance of Super
Eagles players abroad.

Kingsley Madu (Zulte-Waregem, Belgium)

The Super Eagles deputy left back was once
again an unused substitute for Belgian high fliers Zulte-Waregem, who maintained their top spot with a 1-1 draw against Lokeren. Since joining the team in the summer from Slovakian side Trencin, he has only made two appearances, one in the league and one in the cup as well.

Mikel Agu ( Vitoria de Setubal, Portugal)

FC Porto loanee Mikel Agu was once again the
catalyst in the middle for his loan side Vitoria
Setubal. The 23 year old bossed the midfield for
his team in their 2-0 win over Estoril in the
Portuguese League.

So far he has made 10 appearances with two
more appearances in the cup taking his total
appearance to 12 for the season. His highest ever total in a top flight league in a single season.

Wilfred Ndidi ( Genk, Belgium)

Leicester City bound Ndidi showed why he is so
highly rated and respected by football watchers,
with a top class performance for Genk in their 2-0 win away to Italian side Sassuolo in the Europa League.

He was top among all players in terms of tackles with a success rate of 92%, little wonder Alex Mcleish said he is a prototype of Chelsea star N’golo Kante. He will surely be missed when he moved to Leicester City in January.

Ogenyi Onazi ( Trabzonspor, Turkey)

The former Lazio man put up a performance to
remember, by far his best since joining the
Turkish side in January. He covered almost every
blade of the pitch for his team as they got back to winning ways with a 4-1 win over 10 man
Adanaspor.

Onazi who have been in and out of the starting
line up, was at his best in breaking up the
opposition play and initiating attacks for his team, in what was his 13th game with two goals already to his name this season.

Kevin Akpoguma ( Fortuna Dusseldorf, Germany)

Another week and another booking for the 21
year old German Nigerian, who has earned a bad boy reputation in the 2. Bundesliga, no thanks to the rate at which he is picking up caution.

He has already been sent off this season and
yesterday as his team crumbled to a 0-2 loss to
Nuremburg. He was yellow carded in the 72nd
minute. His sixth for the season.

Uche Agbo (Granada, Spain)

Super Eagles fringe star Uche Agbo maintained
his spot in the starting line up of Spanish side
Granada, and lasted an hour in their 1-1 draw
against Malaga, he however picked up a booking
in the 48th minute before leaving the pitch.
The Watford loanee has been one of the stand out performers for La-Liga strugglers Granada with 13 appearances to his name from a possible 15 for the 19th placed Spanish side.

@bolded..... We now know (as some were vehemently in doubt) that there was indeed a chartered plane. The only snag in the whole story is how much was "really" spent. What was the total cost of the expenditure? DrTee1's post says it is not in the 42million region but less than $4,000.... Who is saying the truth now? I will post the link to Africanfootball.com's claim of 42million at the end of this write-up.... So many casala indeed. sad #JustSaying #Enoughsaid #MovingOn THIS IS WHY I ALWAYS PREFER KEEPING FOCUS ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THE COIN AS REGARDS OUR FOOTBALL.... THE RISE OF OUR NEW GOLDEN GENERATION. The other side which is the NFF, sports ministry, and the likes is full of dirt and chaos.

OPINION: CAF BID - YET ANOTHER NEEDLESS
EGO TRIP BY MR PINNICK

Pinnick (far left) gets his photo op with FIFA boss Infantino and Nigerian President Buhari. It was always part of the plan for his CAF executive seat ambitions

written by Samm Audu

At a time when Nigeria football is in comatose,
president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has embarked on yet another needless ego trip by his vaulting ambition to be on the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

It was not long ago that Pinnick staged at a
reported cost of over 50 million Naira another
huge ego trip when he hosted FIFA president
Gianni Infantino and 18 federation presidents
from across Africa.

We now all know why this grandstanding.
In September 2014, Mr Pinnick was elected
president of the NFF under rather very
controversial circumstances.

He said he sought to lead the country’s football
by attracting corporate Nigeria to a sector that
has continued to be financially dependent on the government.

He took immense pride in how he had got several top companies to partner with Delta Football Association while he was chairman.

But halfway through his four-year tenure at the
NFF, major sponsors have pulled out, new
sponsors have not been signed up, the federation have been crippled by mounting debts and now going cap in hand to government for more funds.

As we speak, Ten-time African champions Super Falcons are holed up in an Abuja hotel over pay.

Despite assurances and reassurances from the
sports minister, the Falcons insist they be paid
their entitlements before they will call off this
scandalous sit-in protest.

Nigeria’s biggest football brand, the Super Eagles, the Flying Eagles, the Flamingoes, the Falconets as well as an experimental Nigeria U19s have not been spared the desperate financial hardship that has overtaken the NFF.

Most national team coaches have not been paid
this year and it needed a special 100 million Naira bailout from the government before the Super Eagles could honour a World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

Yet, he could charter a plane “through private arrangements” at 42 million Naira to fly in and out of Cameroon for the women’s AFCON final the previous weekend.

Also, results under Mr Pinnick have been most
disastrous - Nigeria have failed to qualify for the
AFCON on two straight occasions and both the
Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets have failed to
qualify for their respective AFCONS for the first
time in a long time.

It is against this gloomy backdrop that Pinnick
now wishes to embark on his selfish quest to sit
on the highest decision-making body of African
football even against wiser counsel.

And he has gone about this by not carrying along even his most immediate constituency, the NFF executive committee, as his colleague Chris Green has been bold to reveal.

This clearly shows that Mr Pinnick has been
managing Nigeria football by his whims and
caprices and so the sorry state of the game
today.

The NFF congress must now rise above their own selfish interests to vote out Pinnick at the
severally postponed Annual General Assembly on December 18 in Lagos.

They were all willing tools in the conspiracy and
fraud that brought Pinnick to office two years
ago. But they now have a unique opportunity to
redress that mistake so that history could still be kind to them.

Very nice information shared and your contribution is priceless. I hope the NFF officials treat these young ladies with dignity and respect. The threats to ban the ladies and officials will not make things better. As the head, Pinnick should reduce the fire than fuel it.

Please, do me a favor. Tell your NFF homies to please reward Amunike's U17 Victorious team.

I'll prefer "Please tell our Federation authorities, if you have the opportunity, to reward...

I am as ordinary as every private citizen.

Meanwhile, I can duly tell you this: Rewarding a team is the responsibility of the federal government, and not the football federation.

What the federation owes its teams are bonuses and allowances - in preparing them for competitions as well as during the tournaments.

That's why Buhari hosted and redeemed his pledged to the China 85 team in 2015 - and not the Football Federation, for example.

P.S: Rohr's salary is $47000, not 43,500Usd as I earlier wrote in error.

Either way, thanks for your assistance.

However, Pinnick should contact he Federal Government with an official memo asking for the reward of Amunike's boys. It makes me boil every time I think of those boys achieving such feat with nothing to show.

What makes it annoying is that President Buhari remembered to reward the 85 set but left out these ones. Why not reward them together?

It pisses me off big time.

The president rewarded Amunike's boys with 1.2 million each. Their wahala is with NFF who didn't pay wat they owed them.

Pep – Iheanacho Is The Only Striker I have
Now, He Has Good Sense Of Goal, He Will Deliver

Manager of Manchester City Pep Guardiola has
backed Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho to
make up for the absence of star forward Sergio
Kun Aguero, who is suspended for the next four
domestic games.

Iheanacho according to the manager is the only
striker he has in his team right now, and he is
confident that the 20 year old will embark on a
goal scoring run, after getting off the mark with a goal in Aguero’s absence in the 1-1 draw against Celtic in the UEFA Champions League.

“Yeah. He (Iheanacho) is our striker – the only one I have” , he said at the pre match conference ahead of their weekend game.

“Always, he has a good sense of the goal. Of
course, we need it – but we can also play other
players in that position.

“He is a player that should play but we have other options in the way we can play,” Guardiola said.

Meanwhile, Iheanacho says he is ready to fill
Aguero’s big boots.

“I have the responsibility now to be the main
striker for the team.

“I have to replace Sergio now that he is
suspended.

“I have to prove myself, work hard and give my
best for the team.

“I have to also make sure I do what I can to help us win,” he said.

Iheanacho has scored three goals in nine league appearances for City this season.
