Who is Alonso's competition in our team at the moment? NOBODY!!!

Look.. Alonso is our player and I wish him the best, but it won't stop me from calling him the weakest link which is very obvious. I've always been vocal about my apprehension with his weaknesses - lack of pace and strength.

I like me a wingback that can run, defend and still contribute in attack. A wingback that can take on defenders. Alonso fails woefully here. His game seems predictable. Once he's with the ball in the opponent's half, his next move is to bring the ball back and give to the nearest team mate.. even when there may be a little space to exploit and run into the box and deliver something dangerous.

His work on the flank is just to be the person that Hazard gives the ball and collect it back again in order to deceive defenders.

Even the sweet crosses he specialises on comes once in a blue moon. Players like Felipe Luiz and kennedy woulda always take on defenders and create the opportunity to cross the ball.. unlike Alonso that waits for space.

In defensive duties, he has Matic and cahill to thank.

Alonso is an intelligent player, no doubt.. but we need an upgrade.

I tire ooo, they think he is wack and conte wouldn't have sent his ass to the bench.. Kennedy can't offer what Alonso is offering at the moment

What make a player good is technicality and positioning which Alonso has and Kennedy lack. People are carried away by kennedys exciting play. Conte might make him great though.

Any proof that Kennedy lacks positioning?? Cos our 5 man defence is covering Alonso,when he played in a normal system we saw how Okasaki embarrassed his positioning

Alonso is excellent with his deliveries into the oppositions box whenever the opportunity presents itself. He has a great shot accuracy on him too however, that is about it.

Dude can't get pass his marker with pace or dribbles. He gets easily run over or bullied. Dude is ntelligent, Yes! but, mata was also intelligent still,most people called him a passenger.

I have serious doubts about Alonso and wouldn't mind seeing if Kennedy can be an upgrade or not.

I think we should all calm down and still give kudos to Alonso, the guy is trying. is there room for improvement? YES. does he needs competition? YES. is Kennedy an upgrade? WE DON'T KNOW YET.
Every Chelsea fan av discussed with all believed that Kennedy, Ake, DaSilva are good alternatives to have on that role but non knows the role (wing back ) better than Alonso. he has played in the system before.
why teams attack Chelsea from the left is because in terms of the personnel that is the weakest and not necessarily down to Alonso, Cesar is doing a great job mopping every loose ball and helping out Moses add to the equation Kante, then you see why the side is formidable unlike the left side of Cahill (right footed and lacks pace), Matic and Alonso. Without being a coach by comparison I know where to exploit.
Alonso also brings That aerial presence upfield. if it's not broken don't fix

the only reason the left wing is targeted is because Cahill is the weakest of the back three that's all it has nothing to do with the wing back.

OK....choose whatever you want statistically e no concern me. There is no way in this life Alonso is better than moses defensively. Except I haven't been seeing our games which is not the case here.

Abeg before we digress from the discourse entirely, no one is saying we should right off Alonso or he Alonso hasn't done a job or cant still do a job, all I am saying is, i want a direct competition or someone better. If Kennedy can prove to be enough competition or even a better player that I hope for but,we are yet to see.

everybody know that an elite club needs squad depth and with squad depth comes competition I agree. But the one I will never agree to is when someone says Kennedy will offer better to what Alonso is offering us that I will not agree..
