What we are saying is related to Igbo women, so far we are talking about Igbo/Yoruba I'm gonna mention them, thanks for understanding.

You seem obtuse so I'll refrain from mentioning you any more. There was no need for you to call out Igbo women as no Igbo woman came here to insult you and/or Yoruba women in general and I'm sure that you're quite aware of that. The fact that you did highlights your inferiority complex quite clearly undecided. I don't want to go into it as it's pretty conspicuous and there is no argument to be had here.

Under wat juristiction and powers recognised by the Nigerian constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, religious law or customary law.

The Deji acted with criminal intent and commited battery on a community representative that he had invited to his palace.

This is similar to the Lagos Oba inviting community leaders to his palace only to threaten their lives.

The only example i can point to internationally is the invitation given to the Russian Ambassador in Turkey only for a Turkish police officer to shot him in the back screaming like a coward.

U dont invite people on diplomatic mission and then sieze the opportunity to ttack and inflict injury on them.

That is cowardly.

You have deliberately chosen to ignore the truth, because of your biased mind. sad In every country there are state laws and communal laws. In many places, there are customary laws and other regulations used to nurture and maintain cultural relations, communal peace and proper conduct. Please do some research. sad

Again, kindly go back and read about what transpired in the palace of the Oba of Lagos, when he invited the community leaders to meet with him during the 2015 elections. He did not attack or inflict injury on them, so your attempt to cast his actions in the mold of what the Turkish police officer did to the late Russian Ambassador is misleading, deceitful and totally untenable. undecided

From the reports that were made available about the meeting, 37 other Eze Nd'Igbo chiefs were present when the Oba of Lagos made his speech. Did they report that he attacked them or inflicted injury on them, like you implied? No! Instead, they clapped for the Oba and eagerly promised to do his bidding after he gave his speech about the lagoon. Now why are you still belly-aching over this matter?

@hammerT: Please do your research now, before you start talking like this. Oya, read the article posted here. The whole report was published by ThisDay Newspapers.

Vote for Ambode or Perish Inside the Lagoon, Oba akiolu Tells Igbos | ThisDay Newspapers | April 6th 2015 |

....“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi (Agbaje) is my blood relation and I told him that he cannot be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here.

“If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you. If you go against my wish, you will perish in the water.”

The monarch said anybody against Ambode did not wish the state well, adding, “I am for the progress, growth and development of Lagos. Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years....

In his response, the Eze-Ndigbo of Amuwo-Oriade, Dr. Gordian Dimojiaku, promised Akiolu that the Igbos in the state would support Ambode.

“The mistake of last Saturday was caused by everybody, not only the Igbos. It is not only the Igbos that were responsible for the votes. But we have learnt our lesson. Saturday’s election is going to be a different thing and Ambode is going to win.

“Everybody knows that when you fail the first time, you cannot afford to fail again. We are going to tell our people that Ezes from the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas are here and that we have sworn with the Oba that we are going to make sure that Ambode wins next Saturday’s election,” he said.

Hope you can see the reaction of your Ezes that were in attendance when the Oba made his threat. None of them objected to his remarks or even expressed any displeasure at what he said, o! shocked

Here is another view of the same incident: cheesy

Oba Akiolu’s statement was jocularly to his Igbo friendsOba Akiolu’s ‘Death Threat’ Against Igbos Was An Honest Joke – Atueyi’ ON APRIL 10, 2015 | 3:44 AM

A Lagos-based lawyer Chukwudi Atueyi, who was present at the meeting between the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu and some Igbos where he made the infamous ‘death threat’, yesterday, gave an account of what transpired at the meeting.

According to Atueyi, the uproar was uncalled for as the Oba’s statement was not directed at the whole Igbos in Lagos but he spoke jokingly to his Igbo friends that visited him.

“All the Eze Ndi Igbo honorary in Lagos went to pay HRM solidarity visit on Sunday and I was fortunate to be among those present at the said meeting. What the Oba said was fully and simply directed to only the Igbos present at the meeting who his majesty considers to be very close to him and should understand him well enough.

“You know when one talks to his very close friends and subjects, he tends to be very free with them, so he was being very free with those present at the meeting and wanted us to realize how serious and close he takes us and our votes, because he cannot imagine us giving him our words only to turn back and do the very opposite.

“He did not force us to the meeting, we were the ones that went to him on solidarity visit, so it would be very evil of us to only go and deceive him there. He only jokingly (at least as it appeared to me then) warned the people present at the meeting who he considers his own people. The said warning that we are supposed to be very conversant with since we have all the “Ëze Ndi Igbo” present there, as that was not the first time we visited him. We are all already aware of the Yoruba culture and understood perfectly what he meant. There was no specific place he referred to all the Igbos in Lagos.

“He was only addressing the Igbos with him present there whom he considers his own people and he simply observed his culture which we all quite understood and this explains why there was applause and laughter at the end of his speech. We were expected to, thereafter, talk to our people in civilized manner to convince them and canvass for their votes if we truly believe we are capable of doing so.

“The tradition of lagoon water threat was directed only to those present at the meeting as culture demands. Though he appeared serious but we all understood it as a joke, that was why we all applauded him and made fun of it there.

The problem we have in this country is lawlessness and people choosing to apply the law wen it suits them.

Further, we have wat is known as the principle of separation of power, is the Deji encompassing both the Judicial/Executive and Legislative function?

Do we have customary courts in this country?

There are no justification for the mannerism in which both the Deji and Oba conducted themselves.

There behaviour is more of a street thug than royal. This begs the question of wat are the criteria applied to select Deji and Oba?

In the aforementioned scenario, it is apparent that the Deji is criminally culpable for an indictable offence, in comparision to the Oba of Lagos who could face charges for a summary offence.

I further learnt that his predecessor murdered his wife via inflicting mortal wounds on her.

The only reason u are here justifying the action of the Deji is becos Nigeria is under an unannounced Martial law.

IPOB were right to refer to Nigeria as a Zoo. Do u see the corpses from Southern Kaduna murders by Fulani?

Has anybody said anything on that including the President? I guess it is justified too. Yet u want One Nigeria to continue inspite of calamity it holds.

If Nigeria is a zoo, then aren't you one of the animals living in it? You keep digressing and jumping from pillar to post clutching at straws by trying to link unrelated incidents together, in an illogical manner. Wake up bro'. shocked

If you need to split hairs about the kind of laws that govern Nigeria, I suggest that you enrol for a law degree in any of the universities around here. I am not ready to school you on the law and their different applications, and the jurisdictions where they can be applied. undecided

Secondly, this nation is not under martial law. There is nothing like Marshal law as you put it, so kindly go online and check for the correct terminology of words and their meaning, before you start throwing them around.

Now back to the facts of the case. Your Eze Nd'Igbo of Akure erred by committing a grievous offence against the cultural/traditional laws of the host community, where he resided. Any wise man would back track, rescind his actions and offer an apology, when confronted with the error of his ways. Instead, he chose to be headstrong and confrontational. And punishment was meted out to him accordingly. Kindly deal with it, instead of writing another long epistle full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. sad

See how you love jumping to conclusions. First, I do not have any hatred for the Igbo. I have some of my family members married to people from that ethnic group and they are quite nice. But I have zero tolerance for bigots and those who play the tribalistic, ethnic card to score cheap points against other tribes, like you do. sad

You asked if I missed the front page about the carnage in Kaduna. Really? There are over 64 topics on the front page, so I have not got round to reading every single article on the FP. It would help if you could post the link here, so I can go and check it out. However, since you brought it to my attention, it means you must have read it. So have you directed the appropriate authorities to investigate and bring the perpetrators of the crime to book? sad

Your problem is that you keep jumping from pillar to post, like a puppet being pulled on a string. That is why your posts do not make much sense. This thread started with a man who was encountering challenges in his inter-tribal marriage, but you have managed to turn it into a thread about the Deji of Akure, the Oba of Lagos, Nigeria and martial laws. Now, you have added the mayhem in Southern Kaduna to the mix. undecided

If you want to talk about Southern Kaduna issues, kindly open a different thread for it, and I will be glad to address your concerns there. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. Now, kindly get back to the topic.
