sir there's good wisdom in what she has done as long as it isnt her final stop. Should she go ahead to use that money for say a project she knows about or a business she is informed about wont she make more monies there? Can u start a building project with 1000naira??..say buy nails 1000naira today tomao 200naira to buy sand den next tomao buy wood 400naira or start a biz with a thousand bucks n keep puttin 200naira into d biz dependin on d kind of biz dat is...you all shud reason dat d info given out aint complete cos for all we may knw she prolly had a biz doin dat was allowin put aside certain amts dat prior ended bein spent or unaccounted for..as for me i commend her effort..its worth implementing.
It doesn't make sense saving money or putting money into a safe box just like that without the money yielding interest. Have you heard of "time value of money"? The saying that money earned today is worth more than money earned at a given date forward. Mostly due to inflation. For example: If I had N100 in hand today, the N100 will be equivalent of a lesser amount going forward. The N100 I had is called the "Present Value" and the worth of that money say 12 months from today would be lesser depending on the inflation rate and this is referred to as the "Future Value".
A generator I bought N30,000 sixmonths ago is now N56,000 (sumec fireman 1.4kva).
I hope you understand my message now.
She didn't have to invest it a building project. as you can see, I also mentioned that it could also be a side business. The message is to make the money work for you by yielding interest. Let the money appreciates.

I get your drift sincerely but considering how she came about the lump sum would be able what investments one can get into today wit the amt she started off with n be yielding daily for u to get, that amt.? Point is she has been able to discipline herself to raise such an amt goin about it the way she did...again i say its commendable n trust me with proper planning analysis n all d rest she can now put dat money to work for her and in anoda 6mths,a year or same time she took saving d amt, doubled or trippled d investment. You can only talk of inflation analysis on this when she now takes d almost 500k n put in a bank doin nothing for say a year or so n besides if she would she can approach her bank to help put dat money in d money mkt for her wyl she plans on what to do with it. She has done well for herself..its a good start.leave all these inflation talk n analysis abeg

Anyone who sees my account balamce would think I'm broke as fvck. I don't keep money in the bank. Every penny I earn goes into a project (building or a side business ). Only uninformed people still keep money in the bank.

And someone who is earning 30k or 50k per month will put their money in a project or side business without saving for at least some months. Una go just dey do ITK...mukpas!!!

You have a comprehenion disease. An intelligent person should be able to deduce somethings. You don't expect me to spill everything out here. There are some commonsensical things to do but your Pentium M brain can't just decode that.
Yes, someone earning 50k can get a printer and do printing job if the person is close to an institution of learning. You should have emergency savings of course - common sense 101.

You don't have to get angry. You know you didn't make any sense and as usual you resort to insult. You are still not making any sense anyways and you are nothing but a typical ITK

Liars...

From the post, the highest she saved was #1000. Multiply that by 11 months, even 1 year:

1000 x 365 days= 365000

Where's the supposed #130000. Even the box looks small
I thought the same thing but I realised that they meant the denominations she was putting in the piggybox and not about how much per day.

If she had been a participant of MMM she would have gotten over a million by now. Saving isn't wise, Yes i said it. Unless you are saving for something big, Like getting a land or car(Even a car is a liability). But just keeping money in banks or elsewhere isn't wise. After reading The Richest Man in Babylon and other books by Robert Kuyosaki your mentality will change(Although the first book advice you always save 1/10th of your earnings but only for the purpose of investment, of making even more money). Your money should work for you, It should be your slave not the other way. Take risk, Fail, Take risk again, Invest, Invest, Learn and you shall make it. Most people don't really wants money just the assurance that they have money, that's why they engaged in pointless savings.
She could have lost everything by now.

So? It would be unfrozen and life continues. Isn't it savings she intended, so she wouldn't mind if her Mavro froze for one month while even growing unlike in her piggy bank. Besides she would have made twice the amount even before December 14th when MMM froze mavro. But forget MMM for now, They are a million and one things she can do to make money instead of just putting it in piggy banks. Focus on my point.
You people simply don't get it. Putting the money in the piggybox was what make the money to reach that amount. She didn't put 400k in the piggybox at once. It is now that the money has accumulated she can use it for anything she has in mind, be it investment, spending or saving in the bank.

Then it woulda been 200, 500 and 1000. The statement "In a day from 200 - 1000" totally referred to the amount.

Besides, look at that piggy box. If you've seen 489500, you'd agree that ain't close.

It seems the piggy box is even better than the normal commercial banks because there won't be anything like debit alert at the end of the month. These days your money gets decreased in banks instead of increasing.
Secondly, if you save in a commercial bank, you can't get all your money, there must be at least, one thousand naira in your account but you don't need to keep anything in your piggy bank, you have access to everything.
Thirdly, you can't go to a bank if you want to save #500 or #1000.You'll feel reluctant to do so coupled with the fact that you will queue up for hours to do so. These are not applicable to piggy bank
