A Poem A Day For A Year by engrsoma(m): 8:34am On Jan 04, 2017 |
HOW MANY TIMES How many times have I been told to think outside the box When what they really meant Was to lock myself in a box And if they had to, they would gladly pay the rent. How many times have I been towed towards perfection But ended up just as imperfect Thoughts borne out of great obstruction When the world questions, will I ever be correct? How many times have I been toyed, that I can be all I wanna be The truth half-told can really be destructive The times I believed, I was led to see The path so strict; where art thou creatiVIty? How many times have I been stowed away Locked inside a box of rules Hoping one day, to find my way To the land, where I rule. Chukwumerije Somadina #Day1of365 #APoemADayForAYear #01/01/2017 2 Likes |

AWAKE Gifts from the gods lies therein In the heart of every man Who seeketh it, to find. For somedays I am left to ponder These secrets, which I have come to know Lies therein, but rumbles like thunder Only if we would let it grow. Gifts from the gods lies therein But here lies a man who blames the gods For that he deserves not, but is still therein But here lies a man in mud Only if He would wake that which lies therein I know two kinds of people One grows and one kills I know two kinds of people One wakes and one slumbers I know two kinds of people THE GREAT AND THE UNGRATEFUL. 12:95 It was 12:95 when the bells started ringing deep in my mind, making me feel like a rebel, cause I have been fighting sleep. It was 12:95 when my mind went blank as the paper stared back at me asking "Why are you awake?" It was 12:95 when my brain made the call to my eyes, telling it to shut it's doors, it was getting too late. It was 12:95 when I stared at page 267, all I could see were scrambled lines cause my eyes picked the call. Then I realized the eyelids were not the doors to the eyes. It was 12:95 when I bowed to page 267, rising, only to bow again. The bells kept ringing, "Why are you awake?" It was 12:95 when I bowed again, not to the page and rose again, because these push-ups could really help. It was 12:96 when I turned to page 268. Awake I must be. But why? OUR FATHER Our Father, who art in heaven Give us bread, even if it's not leaven I am the second out of seven And our oldest is just eleven. Hallowed be thy name Which though not written in any hall of fame The pains of the cross, only you overcame To set with love, the heart of man aflame. Thy kingdom come Shining with light, burning from thy wisdom Which thou will share gladly to anyone who overcomes The rules of this world, which seemeth like the right custom. Thy will be done on earth Where thou through death Gave us a rebirth That we might flourish in health, which conquers death. Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day5of365 05/01/2017 3 Likes |

SOMUADINA What is in a name? That is the question we ask Not chosen because of its fame For ahead lies a task. They said together we can go far Holding each others hands But can I ask you a question sir? What if no one takes my hand. For if I am not meant to be alone But to carry everyone along Why does the world feel like a stone? A place I don't feel among. Because I have seen enough of this world Just like it's sitting across me at dinner But despite these woes My son, your name would be SOMUADINA. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day6of365 1 Like |

JUST LIES We don't pretend when someone dies Not out of fear that they might resurrect But just to correct the lies We told, when they were still erect His story told like he was there Oh, what a wonderful guy he was Loved everyone like his dear Maybe if he knew, he wouldn't be was. Laid to rest like a king In a casket made of diamonds Wore golden rings His name was Raymond Buried like a king Lived like a poor man. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day7of365 Appreciate the living now they are alife. 2 Likes |

WHEN I SAY NO I FEEL GUILTY When I say no, I feel guilty Even if its the right thing to say Sometimes its to a friend Asking for something I cannot give. When I say no, I feel guilty It might even be to my bar Sometimes I act like I do not send. Like I an so insensitive. When I say no, I feel guilty To the guy asking why In the exam. He has me only to depend This joke is getting expensive. When I say no, I feel guilty Sometimes I ask why But if I live just to pretend And I am called sensitive When I say yes, I might feel guilty too. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day8of365 1 Like |

LIFE RULES If thou haventh loved Thy heart hasnth start beating If thou thinketh thou has all problems solved Thou haventh start reading If thou thinketh thou knoweth all Thou prepareth thy way for downfall If thou loveth with all thy heart Thou prepareth thy heart for heartbreak If thou forgiveth all that sinneth against thee Thou would have all thy sins forgiven If thou giveth to the poor Thou wouldnt lack. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day10of365 |

THE SECONDS THAT MATTER Life goes by every second. We achieve things in a second But they become history the next second So why do we strive to achieve these things That lasts only for a second ? Because of these seconds we live on For these are the seconds that really matter And if we can have enough of these seconds We would have lived. © Chukwumerije Somadina #ApoemADayForAYear #Day11of365 1 Like |

Once upon a time There lived a boy Who cared less about time And played everyday with toys. He had parents who had no dime Soon, he ran out of toys He decided it was about time He found a way to earn for his toys. He soon found out, you can toy with all but time And if he really had to buy his toys He must care more about time And quit spending time with old toys. This little boy who cared less about time Finally could afford his toys Cause he cared more for time And all day, he played with his toys. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day12of365 |

With hair well brushed And shoes well laced He ran for the bus like he was rushed With smiles all over his face I stared and wondered What was inside him that left? I had little to ponder When he came home the same way he left. My son usually was scattered Came home as dirty as ever But now, his appearance was all that mattered And he seemed to be neat, forever Then everything became new Maybe he had something to prove Then I knew, My son was in love. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day13of365 |

It all started with a truth or dare The game seemed exciting but I didn't give a care I was just playing to the rules Cause this game was supposed to make me look cool. Under the device of a game This evil is renamed When last did you have sex? List that girl sitting at your next We calk it just a game Are you sure, it is just a game? But if it truely is just a game Then let's give it a befitting name. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day14of365 |

A FANS PRAYER lord I ask one thing today That Manchester united wins They play Liverpool this day And we really need to win We have won six games in a row And we still in the sixth position Make this the seventh in a row Let's see if we could change position I pray to not lose I also pray we win with a big margin Cause Everton just gave city a lose And we need to close down the margin This I pray with all my heart Don't be angry with me lord I pray not for Liverpool to lose I only pray for united to win. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day15of365 |

In this economic recession All we need is financial precision To make decisive decisions That will save us from extinction. Though we elected a president Whose country he is non-resident It has become quite evident That we are victims of an electoral accident. Lest I forget We have an economic team whose only target Is to stop trade in the black market While sweeping everything else under the carpet. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day16of365 |

Sometimes we find that one person
That has all we desire
But something would be missing Somedays, all that could go wrong Actually go wrong Somedays, all that could go right Actually go right Somedays we achieve all we set out to achieve Somedays we get all we planned to get Somedays we fail despite the preparation. What is in this life That guides its motions? What makes somedays good? What makes somedays cursed? © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day17of365 |

We only hear about it When someone prominent dies from it Then we throw our face away from it After all the money he has eaten, he deserves it But there is a sick poor man dying from it He heads to the traditionalist to find a cure from it After so much dangling of head over a bucket He finally kicks the bucket Yearly 7.6 million people die from it Though we haven't found a cure for it We don't even know the main cause of it But we are working heard to defeat it Its rare to find survivors of it But one day we will find a cure for it And finally defeat it We must defeat cancer. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day18of365 |

There is no systematic way Depends on the situation You can kneel or you can sit You can cry or you can laugh There is no systematic way To this powerful gift Through this we shift our problems To the one who truly cares There is no systematic way To talk to God You can give thanks, you can lament You can blame then ask for forgiveness There is no systematic way For him to reply. © Chukwumerije Somadina #APoemADayForAYear #Day19of365 |
