The Nigerian Police has stated why the force cannot arrest operators of Ponzi scheme MMM.

Police said it does not have any directive from the government to arrest operators or participants of the MMM.

It also explained that it would not go after operators or participants in the scheme because no one had complained about being swindled by the programme.

“We are not going after the operators because there is no complaint from anyone that he was swindled by them, (1)” Force Public Relations Officer, Donald Awunah told Punch.

“No one has complained against them, so we have no reason to go after them. There is no directive from the government to arrest the operators or shut them down,(2)” he added.

I guess nairaland are been paid by federal government to discredit mmm from the heart of people. If to say they are posting mmm topics for traffic they will post both the good and bad news about it cos all of them will generate traffic for them . yesterday there is good news all over that mmm has started merging people for payment but to my greatest surprise non of these topics make front fage.

its because people will be more empowered less customers will beg nairaland to show adverts in other to sell nairaland will lose sales, they hate mmm for this at the expense of the people for their own selfiesh benefits.

banks and stock brokers too will sponsors nairaland modes. bc with mmm they have an unstable deposites customer dont lev their money in the bank for long for them to do their own personal business with it anymore

so you see life itself is selfish

everyone applies selfishnes in other to survive

Even if MMM scams anybody there is nothing the NPF can do. MMM stated clearly their policy and disclaimer on their site which 99% of Nigerians did not read.

if you take them to court you would look stupid and lose woefully

MMM participants should go on and enjoy their oshofree while it lasts. If it stops, there's no one to arrest.

When MMM 2011 (one of the earlier mmm schemes) crashed in 2012, Mr Sergei said he didn't dupe anyone because he told them from the beginning, and they signed to it, that they can lose EVERYTHING! He said it is a pyramid scheme and that it comes with all the risks of a typical pyramid scheme.

It's just so sad that youths dont research before venturing into schemes.

samdeyking01:

on this same blog, i read an article about uniosun vc complaining about mmm owning 2bn. haven't this come to the police attention too? or are they paid to ignore the complains, or are u guys paid to feed us with lies like media does?

Nairaland is not a blog!! undecided. Users posts things and the mods move to frontpage.

waveskaaya:
its only beefers that says shits like this

Like someone said sometime ago on this forum, if I pray for MMM not to crash and pay you, I'd also pray for the person that would also pay you, and then the person who will pay the person that pays you and the circle continues ad infinitum. When it eventually becomes unsustainable as it eventually will, there'd then be a long trail of victims.

Nairaland is not anti-MMM. One of the functions of any media outfit is to warn people of the possible dangers of questionable schemes. MMM defies all logic and conventions of banking and investments. It is antithetical to the economy and hence it is the job of the media to present objective facts to the world. If objective facts don't appeal to you, you may choose to ignore it and move on. The picture below is for you and your ilk.
