wow great explanation. Sir, I tried checking schools with funding I couldnt. Maybe I dont know how to use google well. I will be glad if you can put me through. Either US or Canada. As for GRE and TOEFL, please where can I enroll in Akure? Many thanks.
You couldn't? All schools will have information about that on there grad school website or the department website. It also your responsibility to start mailing the Graduate coordinator of each school and specifically asking about the various opportunities for funding be it TA or RA or GA. You really need to be proactive about it, send emails when things are not clear. The grad coordinator is the best person to develop a rapport with. That was part of what got me funding, i was always in his mail asking one question or the other (Not stupid questions though). For GRE, i don't know where you can register for GRE lecture in Akure, you can try Alagbaka (I spent most of my childhood there), If you ask me, you don't need any lecture to ace GRE,all you need is to dedicate time and study hard then register online at www.ets.org. Going for lecture for TOEFL is even more shameful because TOEFL is just ordinarry English, just like WAEC. All you need to really study hard for is the speaking session and Writing. Check the following link for GRE materials and TOEFL speaking video. If you have any question, come back here and ask.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t9ot6d07hp1lkm7/AADL_dTihjEvNBRCBsmAcoXja?dl=0 GRE

In the link above, you will find more than enough materials there but it will be waste of time if you use all, head to this gre thread https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre/44#39955826 and read the thread to know how best to use the materials. If you cant read that thread, then i am sorry..you need to re-evaluate your decision for graduates study.

For TOEFL, all you need are the speaking noteful videos, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the Toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/45tvc3ifi8wh8sh/AACXR5j6l3nsWK8vZx5P28TVa?dl=0 TOEFL

I dont know why i am trying to explain in details to you, ideally you are supposed to read this thread but then, guess i am in a good mood today or God is really on your side. Cheers

@Time2smile Please I need past questions of GRE and TOEFL. Thanks
Please go through the thread https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre You can read from page 100, although I would really advise you to read from the first page to the last. Go to ETS website https://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/prepare/ and download official materials for GRE.
Check Notefull videos on YouTube for TOEFL and get official guide and practice questions from https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/prepare Free materials are towards then end of the page. The links to other materials and tips can be found on the thread I mentioned earlier.

Hello everyone. I need suggestions please

*I was unable to write the january SAT for some reasons but i want to write the next SAT for march 11 with the aim of having a high score for scholarship purpose but someone told me TOEFL is better. How true is this cos i felt TOEFL Is only meant for knowing an applicant's English ability/proficiency.

*Also, i need ideas from those who have written SAT on how to ace it (I've downloaded study materials and started studying vigorously. I'm also following the thread for TOEFL but there seems to be none for SAT on nairaland).

I can't write the 2 exams due to financial reasons hence my post. I would really appreciate everyone's suggestion.

Thanks.

From my little experience, the easier one between the two is dependent upon your personal strengths and weaknesses. Get prepared to solve some math on the SAT. So, if you're the type who doesn't enjoy math much, be prepared to work a little harder. Also, there is a SAT critical reading section which, from my personal studies, appears slightly tougher than the TOEFL reading section. Also, the registration costs for both exams differ.

I have also observed that most people who ace the SAT spend at least three months studying for it, with many of them attending expensive tutorials. But you can actually study for the TOEFL within two weeks, all by yourself. Just get relevant materials, including videos.

Now, talking about which is better; this is dependent upon the school you are applying to. Some schools require a very high score on the SAT for generous funding, while some schools just ask for the TOEFL. Some don't even ask for any, while some say the SAT is optional, but the TOEFL is compulsory. You need to critically study the application requirements of your school of choice, especially the financial aid requirements for international students.

I would have suggested that you take your time to study for both exams to be on the safest side; but since you can't afford to, here's my humble suggestion: get past questions/mock questions on both exams. In a day, you would have studied the structures and concepts enough to be able to ascertain where your strength lies.

Success!

The only thing you read from it, is the escape route right? I might be wrong but thats what it looks like when people say suggest schools when you can actually search online, even present student cant give you 100% info about the situation of there school, only the grad cord can, and thats who you should make your friend..I am sorry if you find that to be an insult or judging you..BTW If you don't make any post here, your account balance wont increase nor decrease neither will it increase anybody's own too

Some set of people here who are lovers of this thread have come together and decided to give back to this our great thread by given discount to intending student that are willing to write GRE or TOEFL or SAT in order to use it and get funding or assistant-ship from the schools they are applying to.

Only 10 people will benefit from this initiative and with genuine reasons. You can book down any slot at all and this offer will last in the middle of February 2017 which is Valentine's day..

Do not PM or send me private message because it going to be an open offer right inside this thread, also do no ask me who are these people because they wish to be anonymous.

Concerning the offer, it's 50% discount for any of the test and please do not be offended if you didn't make the list and we should try understand as well because population is more than the available slot or space

Thanks Lagosismyhome. I understand your point, but I believe you learn new things each time you fail. My GRE story is not a good one to tell cos of the financial and mental implication. It's the first exam I have ever written twice. Nevertheless, I will not allow a 'GRE challenge' hinder my bigger dream ahead. I will take to your advice since you can't do the same thing over and over, expecting different result.
Thanks again.
His voice I have some GRE videos I can give you that would help plus materials. On a flash.

Anyway, your (Lagosismyhome) advice sometimes worth more than this.

Hello there, i am Cameroonian and i am new here.
i have applied for an admin review last month coz my application was refused because they said im not a genuine student .i have received an email two weeks ago saying:

".....Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.
....
We will write to you again if there is any change to this. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been advised that your application has been decided and that your passport is ready for collection."

Now yesterday i have received this email:
"Good Afternoon.
Further to your overseas application for a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) we have been advised that you have not entered the United Kingdom. (UK).
Your 30 day vignette visa has now expired and as you have failed to collect your BRP, it has now been cancelled.
If you wish to travel to the UK, you will need to make a new application for ‘Leave to Enter the UK’.
For further information please consult the guidance on our website at https://www.gov.uk/visas-immigration.
"

what does that mean? has anyone here received this kind of email before?
thanks in advance

I had a very good CGPA, but GRE seems hit me when I was already rotten book wise. I told myself GRE is leading and I must retaliate. Thanks for your benevolence act.
