I would like to disagree that there is no academic progression, it all depends on the course that you are going for in my opinion, courses like law and medicine are courses that are usually advised to be done as second degrees therefore someone with a criminology undergrad going for law undergrad is a progression, please be certain of the qualifications before stating that there is no academic progression, as long as your second undergrad is a professional course and the previous one is somehow, somewhere related it may be seen as a progression

Bro i get ur point but in this context I won't agree with u, there is no way b.sc Agriculture is related to nursing, pls go through d poster's post b4 concluding on my point. Thanks for ur view.

Please I'm new to this platform but my friend was greatly helped and I hope I will be favoured too...I want to apply for graduate studies in Canada and I need guidelines and the schools to apply too
Thank you

honestly you may not be able to get as much help as you require because the burden of application for schools should fall squarely on your shoulders, no one will tell you what schools to apply to, and you are the one that knows what course you studied and that is what you will definitely use to apply, all in all what course are you applying for and when you know the course you can just google the course+ canadian universities, atleast start your journey from there, but on this thread people tend to jump requests that are not detailed or requests that can easily be done by the poster with just a little work.

all the best.

From the context @Eraytee made his submissions, he had a good point. The moniker had Bsc already and without stating his/her previous program as a pre-requisite to achieving the intended, It is NOT an academic progression.
Whereas, he may have a valid reasons for going for a second Bsc and can convience the VO owing to prior activities(work, study, certifications etc) in the area that may warrant such change, it still isn't a progression as no degree at the same level is higher than the other. Each is relevant for the purpose it exist for.
With the examples you gave, it may be but concerning the subject(Context) matter, there is no academic progression.

agreed.
but then if in the example i gave you agree that it may be a progression, then saying having one B.Sc and going for another is NOT a progression is also not totally correct...... Progression is seen by different ways.... I have a problem with the 'NOT' of it all...

thanks either ways, i stand corrected nobody knows it all.........

I also agree with you bro regarding the instance you pointed out but CONTEXTUALLY and regarding this situation, it really isn't. I'm only staying within the confines of the subject matter and besides, a VO may think otherwise but based on past 'GCMS' file inferential analysis, Most VO usually don't see bsc to bsc as academic progression but sometimes consider an applicant on compelling reasons for a switch.

This is also not just for both of us but also to guide folks that are considering opting for same to choose rightly as it usually tends to a reg flag under 'purpose of visit' when there are no substantiable reasons.

Hi everyone,
I have been reading through this thread currently on page 200nsomething and I must say kudos to everyone that has contributed. I have learnt so much and am now reassured an agent cannot do more dn I will do.
Now jus applied to U of S currently uploading the required docs and awaiting one of my reference letter, studied Microbiology as an undergrad, finished 2012, nysc 2013/14, got a job in finance from 2014 till date. My question is in my SOP how do i justify the GAP from nysc till date cos employment history does not tally with education, n I want to continue with my line of study i.e. Microbiology.
Gurus in the house please help me fill in the gap

Hello Guru,

I need your candid advise as usual.

My sponsor l which is my mum name documentation is not all uniform.

In her int. passport, she didn't include her husband name she used her own surname

On my birth certificate, her husbands name is with her name and her own surname is not dere.

On some other document, the two surnames are used together.

But at least one of the surnames (hers or her husband own) is always used.

So am scared will CIC not think it's fraud that they r different people..how can I handle this without it having issues.

Thanks.
my dad's name in my birth cert was totally diff in his company documents and some other documents, only his surname was the same nd thr was no query buh ur mum shld prolly do a new birth cert. If that solves it or d affidavit route

Hello guys,
i intend applying to universities in Canada for an undergraduate program in aeronautic/aerospace engineering in fall 2017 or winter 2018 with the sole aim of becoming a pilot, kindly advise on good universities that are reasonable in tuition fees that i can apply to. Also do you think i should go for any of these programs first before proceeding to flight school or should i just go to the aviation/flight schools directly .
I will appreciate good suggestions from the gurus in the house or anyone that is currently taking these programs
thanks all.

Nice write up from you all. You are correct in the sense that the VO might see BSc in agriculture to BSc nursing as no progression in academics and hence the issue of "purpose of visit". In fact the VO might not need to look deep to raise the red flag that the student might not be genuine.

But if there is anyway she can substantially point out with the reason for this rapid switch. Maybe a work environment (op knows better) that had triggered her love for this field and her inability to grow in her new found field without a degree and being a professional, she just might scale through.

Some pages back thesoj helped a guy with a BSc package his docs and get TRV with a diploma admission. That should have been a "purpose of visit" red flag but the meticulous nature of arranging the documents helped the applicant scale. I read the post and saw every detail in the SOP was backed with a proof.

But yet again it is a risky part to thread on without enough proof to back your SOP on the switch.

Anything is possible with GOD and it is still worth giving a shot.

It all depends on you bruh. If your aim is becoming a pilot, then go for piloting. You don't need a first degree to put in for piloting course, so why waste your cash and time. Aerospace is wide so if you wanna seek knowledge cool. About universities with reasonable tuition lol, I think the cheapest is U of Manitoba also check out Concordia, Carleton, Toronto and Ryerson uni. Can't really tell what UG tuition is like... I only know of masters tuitions. All the best.

I'd like to get an opinion on how feasible chances are that one can get an admission to a research based masters program (especially in Computer Science/Engineering).

I've tried contacting a few professors to no relevant avail.

I've come to the understanding that unless you have a real concrete research proposal, efforts to directly contact potential supervisors will most likely be futile.

Has there been anyone in the forum who was successful in MSc. application without contacting a potential supervisor prior to applying (particularly in comp sci/eng)?

@michV @thesoj @yemdogg @Genius000 @QuantumMove01 your inputs will be appreciated.

@megziflips, you can search for @jengbetiele, he is currently undergoing his MSc in computer science in U of Saskatchewan. Also, you can go through his previous posts, he has a thread that he detailed his admission journey. You will find it helpful.

Hello gurus in the house, I did medical upfront last week and completed my VISA application this week Monday. I want to know how I will be contacted concerning my medical result. Will CIC send a mail to me? Or do I keep logging into my CIC account to know if the status of d medical result has been uploaded.
Also how long does it take for CIC to upload d result.
Thank you all for your kind response

Good evening house! Please,
1....Now,another friend told me to apply for Masters of Nursing For Sept '17 intake ,that it pays more than a year course that I intend to go for.
2....My own intention is to finish d specialized course first, then go for Masters straight ( if dem give me admission) before applying for work permit but
3....she advised me to get to Canada first, then tell the school to give me back my money after being given admission for MN.
4....Now pls,is it advisable to get to Canada and get back my money without been reported to CIC by d school?
5.... the Specialized course,is it gonna help me in any way as a nurse ( Community Mental Health, make person nor come waste money)?I think whether person do am or not, exam will still be written to be qualified as a Registered Canadian nurse Or I should kuku go straight for Masters)
I need to plan everything cos school do call me to know if I've been given VISA.Please, advice a confused student ooo

My advice is this
1....my research into masters in nursing admission states that you have to be licensed to practice in that state and country for you to gain admission (that's the reason most Bsn go for certificate courses in nursing)
2......like I said above the only way you would get master admission is if within the time u are studied your specialty you get registered.
3........if you collect your money without transferring to another school that means you not in fulfilment of the conditions of your visa and u can face deportation.
4.......you can change institutions as long as u notify CIC. It's no big deal and completely legal
5......community mental health is more relevant to those with mental health nursing. However you can still choose to specialise here cos you have your BSN already...but this is a question you should ask ur self. "Do I like psychiatry?"
My general advice now is that if u don't like mental health find a school that has the programme you want or defer your critical care to sept 2017 if the school allows. Then while you have your trv and await travel time start the process of getting licensed to practice by starting credential evaluation. Also start reading...This is so that by sept you would have been prepared to take nclex RN and after passing it you can secure masters addmission, better job etc.
Best of luck

If you have submitted and have linked your application, you should keep checking your status online. Nobody knows when CIC will update your medical status to passed.

They are not suppose to contact you if you do upfront medical, but some people, even me, got contacted after upfront medical. If you find yourself in this situation, all you need do is to go to the hospital with the medical form sent by CIC and let the hospital forward your result to them. You can as well scan and send your upfront medical slip to CIC via the email you were contacted. Remember to quote your application number and UCI.
