I applied online
I knowI can't summit without CIC request.
I am just asking if its possible to do it under a week
Thanks

Nobody can really tell you how long it takes for passport request after medical call. It's a matter of different individuals with different processing time.
Some people get medical call and wait an extra month or two for passport request and approval
Some get medical call and get passport request almost same period.

Please house, I jus started following this thread and am happy at all the information am being privy to right on this forum.

I hav the intention of schooling in canada but ultimate at the top of dat is to settle there at the end of my program (MSC), I want to believe that is most peoples aim considering what Nigeria is like right now. However my fear is if it will be possible considering all the stringent rules that CIC has about overstaying ones visa and all the rest of it.

I sure do know about the Post graduation work permit and the rest of it all. My reservation however is after it expires and one hasnt been able to secure a job or ur employer does not apply for an open work permit for you. What happens?

I really do not have anybody in canada and I plan on sponsoring myself with the little money that I have.

Your advice and contributions will be really appreciated.

From the context @Eraytee made his submissions, he had a good point. The moniker had Bsc already and without stating his/her previous program as a pre-requisite to achieving the intended, It is NOT an academic progression.
Whereas, he may have a valid reasons for going for a second Bsc and can convience the VO owing to prior activities(work, study, certifications etc) in the area that may warrant such change, it still isn't a progression as no degree at the same level is higher than the other. Each is relevant for the purpose it exist for.
With the examples you gave, it may be but concerning the subject(Context) matter, there is no academic progression.
Thank you 4 all ur contributions on this thread. Pls with a Bsc marketing (4.40) n a diploma / prof certificate in HR (CIPM), can TRV favour me if am going 4 masters in HR?

There is progression in your study. Marketing is in line with HR and you also have a diploma/professional certificate in HR. So going for Masters in HR would and should favour you. It should not raise a red flag.
You might also need to construct a very good SOP just to cement your points and also tackle the funding part with other supporting documents of your application well and by God's Grace you should be good to go.

Again I believe your academic progression is in order. Just try and look for any other possible loop hole to mend and cover up.

Have you gotten an admission yet? A 4.40CGPA is very good in applying for Masters admission.

Other members can say something about this too.

Account Statement Inquiry

I have a few questions regarding statement of account that I would like someone to help me with.

1. My bro applied to UWindsor for masters in management program, and the fees is CAD$15,000.
How much should my dad have as account statement? If he has account statement of ₦5million and landed properties yielding a total of ₦8million per year, would that be enough?

2. I also applied to some schools for research based MSc with hope of full funding for my program. Assuming I'm granted full funding, will I still need to provide statement of account from a sponsor (my dad)? Or would the funding be sufficient proof of funds?
And if I'm still required to provide a sponsor, will the balance stated in question 1 suffice? Will the embassy somehow link our profiles and know that we're brothers with the same sponsor?

@michV @thesoj @yemdogg @Genius000 @justwise @QuantumMove01 @iamlimitless @CannyZionist @Eraytee and any others with knowledge on this, your inputs will be appreciated.

Let me first answer number two question before I answer number 1. If you get funding for your MSc program, it actually is a plus to your application. But it is imperative you provide a sponsor's statement of account if you are not sponsoring yourself. Most funding are dependent on the students satisfactory performance in their graduate programs and the VO's know this. I read in many pages back where people with funding applied with very little money in their sponsor's account and got their TRV. But they still had to provide their sponsor statement of account.

My two cents: even if you having funding, try as much as possible not to make it look to the VO that the funding is your only hope of survival, make it look like yes you have funding from school and funding from home too.
The question on embassy knowing you are brothers based on using same statement of account, hmm someone should help with that question.

To the number one question.
1)How many other dependent children does your father have? If there are other children, the VO would not expect him to empty his account for one child (even if it can be done), the VO would look at the number of dependents too.

2) 15,000dollars is just the school fees and one has not added living expenses of another 10,000-15,000dollars for a year.
If you do your conversion yourself, you would see that the 5,000,000naira is not relatively enough.

3)Does he have any form of funding?

I think if he can get a co-sponsor for him it'll be better. A co-sponsor that has a good balance in his statement of account and good inflow(to avoid case of lodgement).
Applying with one sponsor with that balance to me is very risky. Again you intend to apply with that statement too.
If you both intend to use that statement then you should both use different co-sponsors to be on the safer side.

Other members can add to this and criticize any incorrect statement I may have made. Just advising based on what I believe I know.

1. the above stated 5M naira, is it the inflow, outflow or balance on the account. in my opinion the inflow of SOA is one of the key note of an acc statement for visa app. the account must have a trajectory display of good source of money over time. using ur dad as sponsor is very good, you need to consider the number of Dependants of your dad, thats the way the VO usually view all these acc statements. they have to be convinced their is steady flow of cash and that the sponsor would be able to cater for subsequent yrs of study of the applicant. if your dad could pay the sum stated above, i think its a cover of financial aspect of your brothers application.

2 If your msc is funded the above should fly.

this is solely my opinion about your post.

What do you mean by inflow and out flow. 5million is current balance and a yearly income of 8million from renting of houses.

What he is meant is the sum of the money flowing in/out of the account 5million or the balance in the account 5million?
So I think you have answered the question in that regard.

He has only one dependent currently in secondary school.
And does the fact that he generates yearly income of 8million from rent of properties offer any value ?

Also at what exchange rate does the embassy do their conversion?

This means he has 3dependants in total since he is sponsoring 3 of you.
So when your brother fills the family information form, it will be seen that apart from your brother, the sponsor has two other dependents.
I think add a co-sponsor is better. And if the sponsor and co-sponsor can commit themselves by paying some amount into your brother's account will also be a good idea.

E.g If main sponsor pays 2.5million into your brother's account and co-sponsor pays 2million into his account. Your brother would have to submit his statement of account and that of his sponsor and co-sponsor. So that the issue of having other dependants is cleared off.

They do their conversion at the current official exchange rate. You fill the forms based on the current official exchange rate.

@ all I hail una oh, please I have some questions;
A family friend of mine submitted his study permit application last year October, and got a medical call/mail today. What is the time line after medicals please?
His passport is still with CIC. And as per the medical mail from CIC he was given 14 days to complete the medical. He is yet to pay school fees though, can CIC ask him to pay fees after medicals?
Thank you all.

P.S: I reside in Canada, and I am happy to help others with any questions you may have about settlement/PR after school. All questions will be answered on this forum. Thanks

so sorry for the earlier post if you have read it, i dont know why i kept on going back to accounting in my head and answering based on that since there is a relationship between marketing and HR, you may apply, but then whether or not it is a progression is what i do not know,so i can not advise based on that... majorly it is a relationship between the previous degree and the aspiring degree they need or in place of the relationship, a superbly worded SOP that gives the VO a vivid and undersandable reason as to the change of interest.....

all the very best...

please note i may be wrong, as i am also learning on here everyday, been reading from part 7

As a lecturer, you must have PhD, except if you assistant lecturer which means PhD in progress. Your case is best with express entry. I am sure you will meet up. Don't waste your money on study and study visa

@Adonai
As you have stated that he was givien 14 days to complete the medical , so let him do the medicals fast. The timeline after medicals is not known but may not be beyond 2 weeks provided the test is passed.
I haven't heard of any case where CIC mandates payment of school fees, if its not required by the school.

I have a very weird question, which I have researching on lately, for you and others with knowledge and or experience as regard PR while studying.

Without following the marriage option, Is it possible to have PR while studying?

Ever heard of Vanier scholarship? If yes, how does it work especially in its "recruiting the best minds" statement. Does winners have to wait till end of study to be "recruited"?

Can someone be doing masters study as well as apply for express entry?

INFLOW means the amount that entered the acc over a specific period of time (eg 6months) and OUTFLOW is the amount that left the acc over same period, this give a full description of how buoyant an acc is over time.

Yes you can!!!
the two are different programs entirely. Applying for express entry shows you're interested in migrating to Canada while studying in Canada does not necessarily mean that.
The only thing i may not be able to say is that you may not be able to apply for two visas at the same time i.e When you get ITA and also you're trying to apply for study permit.

It is possible to have PR while studying. But this is dependent on your past skills set, education, age and work experience before coming to Canada. You are able to apply for federal skilled worker via express entry within Canada, if you meet the criteria. The advantage there is that you have an application for Permanent resident in process, while still in school. But if you don't meet the criteria for Federal Skilled worker, then you have to wait till you graduate.
Another option is if your spouse came here to join you, he/she will be given an open work permit, and once he/she works in Canada for one year, he/she is able to apply for Permanent residence under Canadian Experience Class, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp with you the student been his/her dependent. This way you can become a PR before you leave school.

As per the Vanier Scholarship, I don't have any info about it.

You don't have to get married because of papers, you can sort yourself out if you follow the rules. Many of us did it. You too can do it!

Well I don't have a co-sponsor and I don't really get the concept either.
So what are the options? What would be an ideal balance for my dad to have? And even if I'm funded I still count as a dependant?

A co-sponsor is another person (uncle, Aunty, cousin, family friend) etc that has the ability (financially) to support your desire to further your studies in Canada. Many people use a co-sponsor in order to prove to the VO that the burden on the main sponsor (e.g your dad) can be made lighter.
Please I don't want to sound rude or anything but if you go just take time out to go through previous threads, you will see how applicants have used a sponsor and a co-sponsor to package their documents.
Just search nairaland with the keyword co-sponsor.
