My MIL Is Driving Me Craazzy. Help! by airminem(f): 3:12pm On Jan 28, 2017
Well, I am going back to work and my Mother-in-law is here to babysit. Ever since she came I am fed up with my mother-in-law. Everything she does annoys me: The way she refers to my child as 'our' little bundle of joy. My husband is the one that warned me on his mom. She was TOO excited when I got pregnant and did the typical mama stuff, telling me how to raise the child. I know she's excited about her first grandchild, but she's frying too much chin-chin in my head..lol. She has to constantly be reminded that I am in charge of my baby I've told my husband how I feel, but he doesn't agree. My Mother-in-law is the nicest person to my face but will talk about me behind my back. She argue my parenting and makes up stories. It's just frustrating to me now knowing i am going to be dealing with a lot.
Anyway, because she is my mother in law doesn't mean she has the right to hurt me.

Is anyone else this annoyed by their mother-in-law? Anyone with any advice please tell me what to do?

Your mother in law don't sound like a bad person to me. She is just happy and enthusiastic about the child, allow her to enjoy the euphoria. Try to make her your friend and be a little accommodating.

You have not jam worse mother in law.

You're even lucky. Just be free with her, ignore her negative side remarks about you.

Just thank God she's not the "Patience Ozokwor" type.

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with her referring to your child, her (first)grand child as 'our little bundle of joy'.

And from your story, I can perceive she's not as bad you're thinking.

She is being nice and you're still here complaining. You wish she doesn't help you with baby-sitting so you can work yourself out abi? She even calls the child 'our' bundle of joy and you still feel irritated.
Some women sef....Kuku kill your MIL then, so you don't get irritated again undecided

You sound like a typical Nigerian lady who sees her MIL as a rival rather than a mother figure.

Its not compulsory your mother in law baby sits for you.

She's doing you guys a favor, and if you don't appreciate it ,then cough out money for a good creche around your place, and be ready to continue your mummy duties with your husband after coming back from work.

Or get a nanny that will not kidnap your baby and steal all the valuables in your house.

Be a bit accommodating.Your MIL is not perfect but I don't think she's too bad to accommodate.
It's her first grandchild so she might be overdoing some things, just overlook some.

Don't get me wrong.
She is over-excited, it's always like that when they see their first grandchild. Subsequent ones, na you go dey find their help.

About questioning your parenting skills, it's most times like that with first kids too. They feel you don't know what you're doing...it's worse if you're young. With time she would trust your judgement and parenting.
You just have to relax ,enjoy her services and ignore side talks...

My MIL is just like yours... She treats my baby like she gave birth to him and sometimes does not listen to my ideas but you know what, I just look at the bright side of life. It's not like she stays with my baby 24/7 so I allow her do whatever she wants then when she leaves I do me. if not you will just be bitter and believe me there are horrible MIL out there so thank God for the one you have
