Sorry to digress a little. Did anyone attempt to transfer funds to zenith bank from another bank over the weekend? was it successful? I tried one from stanbic, I was debited by stanbic, but zenith didn't credit me, so I want to know if it's due to the network troubles zenith had recently. I've contacted the customer service of both banks. The stanbic guys are saying very confidently that they've pushed the funds to zenith, the zenith guys on the other hand are claiming that they could not have received the funds without crediting my account. please I need peeps here who are in the know to come to my aid as per what to do. Thanks.
P.S The transfer was done through quicktellar on an ATM. The money would have been enough for me to place a bid for tomorrow's auction.

They reportedly had issues over the weekend. Even ATMs were not left out

I understand your concerns but please refrain from alarmist rhetoric.

It's pretty obvious that the fall in the assets under management (what you referred to as fund size) fell because of the prevailing economic issues. Even the stock market with the exception of a few stocks performed woefully. The last GDP figures showed that real estate activities have also fallen. That's what happens when disposable income falls. People are finding it difficult to save not to mention invest.

Please note that MMFs have TBs, tenured deposits and commercial papers as their underlying assets which generate cash-flows. So the higher the rates on TBs, the higher the MMF yields and vice versa. The 16% you mentioned is as a result of the high yields on TBs. Also, TBs and tenured deposits are assets that can be turned into cash fairly quickly ie TB can be sold on the secondary market and fixed deposits can be liquidated within a few days. They do not need constant inflows as they are not Ponzi schemes.
yes I am aware of the assets under the disposition of Fbn MMF, however it still doesn't change the fact that thier fund size has been shrinking. despite the fact that the rates on t bills has been relatively stable, the rates on MMF has been increasing. the reason which I have said is to lure investors back.
I am waiting for thier January report to monitor the fund size. if the fund size drops further, maybe by a huge difference of 7bn, then caution will need to be applied. I am not saying FBN MMF is in trouble yet, I am just drawing investors attention both old, and new to the drying liquidity in the system, that's all

I am new here. Please guild me. I placed a request with gtb for today's bid at their rate. I also sent the acct officer mandate to part liquidate my fixed deposit to fund the purchase. Will there be time frame to provide fund to service purchase after the result of the bid. I am asking because the fd has not been liquidated.

They will liquidate if your bid was successful. This should be done tomorrow.

Just received a call from my account officer at Stanbic that the rate for 364 days is 18.47%. If true, it means the stop rate is lower than the rate of the last auction.

Chei!!! Stanbic has played me wayo o. to think they actually called me to inform me that my bid of 18.5% for 364 days was unsuccessful when the stop rate was 18.54%. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, they are about to receive an angry customer at their office. To all the wonderful people on this forum who keep us well informed, I say a big "thank you" to you.

Thanks Boss. With the dwindling TB rates for 364days(18.54) and inflation rate at 18.55, are we really making any profits?

And anyone with any other useful secured investment vehicle that offers higher than inflation rates?

Great stuff. I did 17% for 182 days so I should be fine

At least inflation will not sink you. What other safer investment do you have out there that gives you way above inflation? NTB is the best safest investment during high inflation like this.

.

If you were debited yesterday, it means your request will be included in the next auction in a fortnight. Always, ensure that request comes on or before close of business on the Monday preceding the auction.

lucky me, i took the risk @18.50 %, i hope it pulls through at skyebank. they were very reluctant taking my bid......

i should be debited today or tomorrow....

that's not the way first bank operates. if you submit your request to first bank, you will be debited fully. if the transaction is successful u will get an alert of the interest paid upfront, that's if you didnt click reinvest interest. if you receive your whole capital back, it means your bid didn't pull through.
so to the pal asking about info from fbn, wait for the next alert. if its your interest then the bid was successful , if its your capital thats given to you as credit alert, then it was unsuccesful

Any idea of GTB's bidding rates please? (especially for the 364-day tenor)
