This sounds more like it. Angelb4: Than what they want us to believe : "They presented to Onnoghen the dossier the security agencies have on him to go through, showing why they delayed to confirm him. He would have to guard against some of these things when he takes full charge of the judiciary,” the source said. |

Because the people spoke up and called what it is; "Nepotism" If not, they would'nt have made this recent move to confirm him. In Nigeria, it is a crime for a southerner to head sensitive agency like the army, police, custom, NPA, Judiciary and even the presidency. |

His apparent crime is being from the south. Besides, there was keen interest by virtually everyone in the country in how his case would eventually play out - hence their hands were tied from doing any foul play. Justice Onnoghen, Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Congratulations! 2 Likes 1 Share |

The Mafiosi won't like a CJN from the south in case the president kicks the bucket. |

ivandragon: It is on record that appointment into the office of CJN is by seniority. If the government had gone ahead to take action against Justice Onnoghen, we will still shout that the reason is because they don't want him to become CJN. Well, the most important thing is they should forward his name and senate should confirm him. Smple! |

owobokiri: Rubbish. Here are the facts: Onnoghen was indicted by 1994 Justice Kayode Eso Panel as totally corrupt and unfit to be a Judge. Now that he has been shown his file, He will be monitored 24-7, to see if he returns to his corrupt ways. One more corrupt act and he will be arrested & prosecuted. |

blackpanda: its you & your ilk that constantly nurture tribalism by being hypocritical in your opinions. my position on this matter is clear... if Onnoghen had serious security/corruption issues, the FG should have been forthright from day 1. reject the nomination, heaven would not fall. people will shout & say all sorts, but the position of the FG would have been clear & the matter resolved immediately without room for unnecessary conspiracy theories. but by delaying, the FG has boxed itself into a corner, hence the present negative feedback. some of us condemn corruption in all forms, no matter who is in involved. what causes differences is the double standards, exaggeration of offences & outright lies told by this regime & its sympathizers. 1 Like 1 Share |

dman4mdmoon: there will always be controversy. but the FG should have taken action a long time ago rather than wait to be pressured. besides, nothing stops the FG from instituting corruption charges against the CJN after his confirmation. bottom line is that the FG should do the needful as at when due rather than giving room for confusion. |

Osyabj: You should first deal with the secretary to the government, Babachir wateva before dealing with the Cheif Justice.. You dont go to equity with dirty hands..Who is fooling who? |

owobokiri: Anuofia. One corrupt judge is worse than armed rubber and a terrorist combined. Eeven if Lawal was to steal 1 Trillion, if the likes of patently corrupt Onnogen are to remain as judges, Lawal can buy the CJN to stay out of jail. Get that thru your wailing skull. Wailing has degenerated to mental disorder. |
