A Nigerian arrived at JFK airport with a valid 2 year visa. She was held by US Immigration for over 12 hours and then deported with a 5 year ban. Her crime was that she flew Qatar airline. That was the red flag. The ignorant immigration officials wanted to know why she would fly from Nigeria to Qatar instead of through Europe. They wanted to know her contacts Qatar. She said it was due to cheap ticket price. They searched her phones , looked at all her contacts and even called her job in Nigeria. This all happened yesterday in our New United States. Please when traveling check your phones, your messages, your internet. Don't take unknown packages or letters for people and if you can avoid certain airlines please. I am not trying to alarm you JFK is now like a war zone with lawyers and protesters on standby. If you have a green card , you better apply for citizenship as the green card is almost worthless .

I am sorry to say this.. This is a complete fraud and lie.. it's a whatsapp post and I suspect the person in question (If she's even real) is a travel risk not just because she passed thru qatar.. it's a connecting flight and she won't step out of the airport (Unless there's a qatar visa) and every CBP officer should be aware of this.

hi house do i need to list all my duties under the briefly describe our job description or i just write e.g banker or Electrical Engineer. OR would i need to explain what i do on a day to day basis.

Also can i book my appointment before Submitting my DS-160 form online. (we have crossed - checked , just the to be one a safe side thingy)

In my opinion from the transcripts, i think majorly this is the only time you had a grasp and knew what you were going for and answered the few questions accurately. Take the 3rd interview, where you were asked how much a ticket to disney costs and you answer was you dont know. The ticket price can be found online and also how will you plan finacially for the trip if you dont know costs.Thats why its not advisable to use agents, do the research yourself and this little details will stick. Happy anniversary and enjoy your trip

I am sorry to say she didnt tell them the true situation or evidences found on her phone or luggage. How can you be coming for vacation and have with you divorce decree, Birth certificates, Original results and transcripts? This proves intent and thats a big issue once one is subjected to search at any airport in the world. Turkey is a more hostile country than Qatar( international perception) still thousands arrive with Turkish airlines.

The 3rd VO was very aggressive.From experience,if a VO is going to approve your visa,he or she will make your interview smooth and easy.You are kinda right anyway.all thanks to Nairaland.

Plz am experiencing problem with my ds 160 form..while filling d form, on reaching contact info.. I had a little delay getting d hotel info, so when it prompted a minute remaining to timing off... I just selected d next option hoping to come back n finish up... D tin prompted technical error.. N den returned to initial page...
I den opened a new application with anoda app I'd issued after filling d personal data page clicked continue.. It didn't open d next page rather it started asking app I'd and security quest den 1st five letters of surname n date of birth. When I input d answers it will tell me it didn't match.
I've gone ahead to user a different browser this morning.. I submitted passport foto, which it accepted filled personal data den clicked continue , d same old tin started.. It went back to initial page den it will ask of 1st five surname n date of birth den it will say dey don't match

No matter what u think or who got it based on their waka waka to Europe. Everyone in my family got their visas without any travel history. Visas are issued on a "case by case" basis where travel history can play a part or otherwise.
When I said "Tell ur own story" I meant say ur reasons with confidence and at the end u might be successful because no one knows the basis upon which they are issued. But to hammer on travel history I repeat is a fraud.

Yes, as much as possible describe your job in detail using as much professional language as possible. This is the only opportunity you have to prove your economic ties.

Theres is even Feb 8 date

1. Wipe you phone. Only your important contacts should be there including your contact in the US.

2. Don't carry any job-related documents.

3. Sanitise your social media accounts.

4. Carry enough money on you, and in your cards.

5. Be confident and bold.

6. Be polite and courteous regardless of the CBP's face.

7. I don't know how true this is, avoid stopovers in Arab countries and avoid Arab airlines - more scrutiny happens to them; I am not sure of this but better to be safe, than sorry.

Its no news, the Present US travel policy is having a negative effect on Nigerian travellers. According to information from two of my friends (both came back from the US recently) while on a stopover in Turkey and UAE, they came across a number of Nigerians deported from the US point of entries, based on various flimsy excuses. Now the Scrutiny is very intense and phones are being checked, if possible avoid travelling with a smart phone that might bring out unexpected details about you. Travel light and be careful with who you gist with on the plane. Like it or not, I guess Nigeria is the 8th country being affected by the travel ban. Better to be denied a visa than to be treated like a common criminal at the point of entry simply cos u are with a Nigerian passport.
