he is better as midfielder (I always love him when a play as 10) and good as lwf and rwf, but as false 9 it's a No No

if u have followed him closely in some of his matches, u will observe that when Sanchez is been deployed in false9 and iwobi on the left and walcot on the right.. u will observe that they sometimes switch positions.. sometimes Sanchez swaps with iwobi, thereby making iwobi the false 9, sometimes also, Walcott comes in the central position..

although u may not get the best from him in the false 9 position... but dude is versatile..

and that makes him allergic to bench..

He can play false 9, he was a striker right before he made his senior debut.

For the past 5 years it has been Victor Moses and even though Iwobi is on the come up I would still tip Victor as the best dribbler.

gr8 performance from Iwobi

I was suprised when I saw him playing the deep role. It was a great shift from him. He even brought in stability to arsenal mf and was only dispossessed once. His level of discipline in that role was top notch.

Burkina Faso 1-0 Ghana

..And once again, the azonto boys go to Accra with the Charcoal medal.

Considering how subpar their team was this AFCON, they must be given props for getting this far....

There was a time Nigerians would say "Even if we send useless team, last last, na we get bronze medal"

I think it's time Ghanaians say "Even if we send useless team, last last, we go take fourth position" grin

Congrats to the Burkinabe, they have also consistently put up good performances for AFCON tournaments, hopefully, Africa will have a worthy representative in them for the World Cup

Well, Andre did that again. undecided

TheGoodJoe, its like you dnt know these Ghanaians. If they had won this AFCON u would have seen how they would have trooped here and start insulting Nigerians, from our Government to our populace and to our players. They would want to rubbish this thread.

Ghana was my second favorite team, after Nigeria. I stopped supporting them after the prolonged battles at kick-off Nigeria and Kick-off Ghana. When the sites were closed down we trooped down to nairaland and the bashing continued grin. Although I had always been on nairaland even before joining Kickoff.
I know their monikers very well. I dnt want to give any mention here. The way that guy was throwing insults yesterday here shows they have still not grown up.

I am glad Ghana is out period.

You mudder fuggerz are pathetic! You keep saying this is a nigerian site or whatever crap you call it, yet you spend most of your miserable time talking about Ghana and Ghanaians? Do you folks have sense at all? Arrant nonsense!6

It's u that really need to be educated mister E-warrior. For the fact that we are discussing Afcon here, it's possible to mention ur country and other countries that are participating in the competition, How many camerounians, egyptians, senegalese and so on do u see here derailing this thread as u're doing? Talking rubbish without using brain?

Mister, this is a discussion thread about the progress of our dear super eagles team and its players. Ghana is not a talking point here and it can never be a talking point.

Just take it cool if u don't want to have the bashing of ur life this sunday.

Man City Watches On As Uruguay Giants Announce Signing Of Giant Nigerian Midfielder Ibeh

Uruguayan Primera Division giants Sud America have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Bruno Ibeh after a short trial.

Ibeh who was first spotted by Manchester City scouts in 2015 was announced as a player of the 8th placed team yesterday evening, bringing his stay with fellow top division side Nacional to an end.

The 21 year old Nigerian midfielder who has been likened to former France midfielder Patrick Viera joined Nacional on recommendation from scouts of Manchester City in 2015.

A meniscus injury picked up in his first months with Nacional slowed down his progress, and lead to the team sending him on loan to second division side Torque.

His move to America Sud will no doubt put him in the full view of scouts of Man City who have been keeping a close watch of his progress in view of a move to the club in the future.

Arsenal Loanee Nwakali Fails To Sparkle As Maastricht Drop Points At Home

On loan Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali and his MVV Maastricht teammates were left frustrated in front of their fans after visiting Achilles 29 held them to a 0-0 draw.

On loan from Arsenal to the second division Dutch side till the end of the season, he has grown into one of the influential players for the promotion chasing side.

However Nwakali was not as domineering in the middle like in previous games but the 18 year old still managed to fire three attempts at goal, although all were from freekicks.

He took three free kicks during the course of the game, and even though they were all on target, it failed to sufficiently trouble the goalkepper of Achilles 29.

The draw leaves them in 4th position on the table, and a whopping 11 point behind league leaders VVV-Venlo who are on 53 points after 23 games.

Oliseh’s Substitutes Inspired Dutch Side To Comeback From Two Goals Down

Former coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Sunday Oliseh showed his inspirational side by rallying his team Fortuna Sittard from two goals down to draw 2-2 away to FC Dordrecht.

Oliseh’s team went two goals down after 32 minutes with Alvin Daniels and Joris Kramer finding the back of the net for Dordrecht, a lead which they protected uptil the half-time break.

Fortuna Sittard coach Oliseh responded to his team going two goals down in the first half by introducing Finn Stokkers who reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 54th minute, eight minutes after coming on for Sjoerd Ars.

Another inspired substitution by the coach in the 52nd minutes completed the comeback, with substitute Roald van Hoult drawing them level with 18 minutes left to play after coming on for Djibril Dianessy in the 52nd minute.

Despite the moral boost of picking a point away from home, Fortuna Sittard are still in the drop zone in 17th position with 20 points from 23 games.

He had a set back due to the way his club treated him. Not his fault. If Musa Mohammed is as good as we believe, we can also support him by playing him if he will do better than the other options. That will attract other clubs to sign him.

Transfer Rebel Onyekuru Apologises To Eupen, Ready To Accept Transfer To CSKA Moscow

Belgian side Eupen have announced that their differences with wantaway Celtic target Henry Onyekuru has been resolved, and the striker could play against Waasland-Beveren.

The club in their statement also said that other details of his going on strike to force a move to Scottish side Celtic has been resolved internally.

Their statement could mean that the forward might yet leave the club with CSKA Moscow touted as his next destination, after his failure to secure a dream move to a club in the United Kingdom and Germany.

The transfer window in Russia is still open until the 26th of February and a move to CSKA Moscow, who were also linked with him might be accepted by the 19 year old, who has 10 goals in the first stanza of the league.

When majority were calling on Iheanacho to go on Loan or get his development stalled at the City because of the imminent Arrival of Gabriel Jesus, TheGoodJoe claimed GJ is not a Threat to the development of Iheanacho.

I remembered him claiming GJ would be playing on the Wing, that's he's more or less a Threat to Raheem Sterling, Nolito, Jesus Navas as well as Sane.

It's a pity it's already late for Iheanacho to secure a Loan move now, if GJ could bench Aguero back to back, who is Iheanacho to be even on the Bench?! - that's the thought of Pep Guardiola at the moment!

Sadiq Umar Reignited Italian Trust In Young Nigerian Players – Italian Agent Reveals

Nigeria Rio 2016 star Sadiq Umar has been praised for his role in making Italian teams believe in the talents young Nigerian players.

Well respected Italian agent Robert Smith made this known to Owngoalnigeria.com during a chat on why young Nigerian players are finally being sort after by Italian team.

”After Lazio’s experience with Sani Emmanuel and about six young Nigerians who failed to progress as expected at Inter and AC Milan.

Italian teams became wary of Nigerian talents”, Robert Smith
” It’s hard to believe that before the coming of Sadiq Umar, there was only one Nigerian who progressed from the youth ranks and held his own in the first team for almost ten years, and that is Eddy Onazi at Lazio.

” However the rapid progress of Sadiq Umar at Spezia in just two months changed all of that, in just seven months he was playing and scoring for Roma in the Serie A.

That changed a lot of opinion on how teams view Nigerian youngsters.

” Italian teams are no longer scared of investing in Nigerian players that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the rapid progress of Sadiq Umar.

” Now we have Orji Okonkwo at Bologna, Kingsley Michael will soon join him there, about four are doing very well at Spezia at different levels. Awua Theophilus is at Inter-Milan, I almost forgot Stanley Amuzie at Sampdoria”.

Na wa for you. I posted different quotes and links of Guardiola stating Gabriel Jesus will play as a wing forward for City. It was not me saying. It was the words of Guardiola.

I also do not think a winter transfer window is in the best interest of Iheanacho. I do not think five to six months is enough to adapt to the training routines and lifestyle Guardiola teaches.

I say Iheanacho works with Guardiola until the end of the season and then move on. Game time was never my main target of wanting Iheanacho to work with Guardiola.

Emmanuel Petit Faults Alex Iwobi For Chelsea Opening Goal in Arsenal’s Loss

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit says Alex Iwobi should be blamed for the opening goal conceded by Arsenal in their 3-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Iwobi started on the left wing for Arsenal from where the cross which lead to the first goal scored by Chelsea was delivered.

” There were so many errors that lead to the goal, but you have to look at how it all started. Arsenal were properly set up until Iwobi stepped out of his line, he got drawn to the ball quite easily.

” His movement allowed Victor Moses to sneak in behind and receive the ball, with no pressure he was able to deliver the ball which lead to the goal”. Petit said during his post match analysis of Arsenal’s loss.
