Winterburn – Iheanacho Would Have Scored The Goals Jesus Scored, Nothing Special In Them

Manchester City rave of the moment Gabriel Jesus got both goals for Manchester City to hand them a 2-1 win over Swansea City, further cementing his reputation in the heart of City fans.

However respected football writer Chris Winterburn who writes for Spanish newspaper Marca, and covers Manchester United for Metro Sport says there was nothing special in his brace.

Winterburn went as far as saying the praises he is getting for his goals were not as loud as the ones given to Kelechi Iheanacho when he was scoring similar kind of goals.

” Really like Gabriel Jesus but seems odd to me that Kelechi Iheanacho is rarely given the credit for doing exact same thing as today’s goal scored by Gabriel Jesus”, he posted on twitter.

Guardiola Provides Answer On Iheanacho’s Absence From Man City Matchday Squad

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has replied fans of the club who are keen on knowing why Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is no longer in the team.

Iheanacho has not been listed in the last three matchday squad of the club, and he appears to have lost his spot since the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian scored both goals against Swansea City, his third goals in as many games. A form that has also kept star forward Sergio Aguero on the bench.

Shortly after the Swansea City game Guardiola spoke on the difficulties of leaving some players out of the team including Kelechi Iheanacho.

“It has not been easy for Sergio, but there are five guys in this position and he remains one of the most important players in our squad.

“He’s going to play with and without Gabriel, but today I decided to stick with the three guys up front because they played so well against Palace and West Ham

“His reaction to not starting today was perfect. Don’t worry about that. It is difficult to leave players like Bravo, Fernando, Otamendi and Kelechi out because they all deserve to play.”

Eagles Watch – Esiti Shines, Simon Dazzles, Troost-Ekong Benched Again, Kalu & Rabiu Ibrahim Missing

A late minute goal from Henrik Dalsgaard helped Zulte-Waregem share the spoils with Gent in a Belgium Pro League game which ended 1-1.

As many as six Nigerian players were expected to be on show for both sides, with four on the books on Gent while two are with Zulte-Waregem but at the end only four got to feature in the game.

Anderson Esiti and Moses Simon where on from the start for Gent, and while Esiti lasted the entire duration of the game and gave a good impression of himself, Simon who also did very well was substituted in the 83rd minute.

Meanwhile for the second game running William Troost-Ekong was an unused substitute as the trio of Samuel Gigot, Rami Gershon and Stefan Mitrovic were preferred to him.

However Rabiu Ibrahim is still missing apparently due to the injury he sustained during their mid season camping in Spain, while Samuel Kalu who has been very impressive in his first two games for the club was also not listed for action.

For Zulte-Waregem, winter signing Aliko Bala was left on the bench for the entire duration of the game, while Kingsley Madu was introduced in the 77th minute, 13 minutes before they leveled the tie.

Actually, the way the indomitable lions played yesterday, I see them as a threat to the super eagles. We seriously need cohesion in our time to over power these lions.
bros, August is five months away.

The only reason they played that way was because they had achieved cohesion after playing together through six games. That cohesion will not be there by August after the different fragments are re-aligned

Kasper Schmeichel & Wilfred Ndidi Earn Praises From Leicester City Fans, Musa Booed

Fans of Leicester City who are disappointed in their team 0-3 loss to Manchester United have singled out goalkepper Kasper Schmeichel and Wilfred Ndidi as two players who did very well in the loss.

Summer signing Ndidi bossed the midfield but his efforts and that of goalkepper Scheimechel was rendered useless by some dire defending, which gave Man United all three goals.

The fans of the team took to social media during and after the game to post their disappointments in their players bar Ndidi and Schmeichel.

See post below.

If Iheanacho can embrace his lessons at City, develop his work ethic and lifestyle, he can make that departure to a good league for playing time. I hope one season under Guardiola is enough for Iheanacho to venture on another football journey. How the season plays out will determine if Nacho will stay or leave.
Nacho is a very good player who can suit in any league provided he is given time to play. I wonder why he is been sidelined when he was giving results I mean goals and assists.

Man City Star Lifts The Lid On Why Kelechi Iheanacho Is No Longer Making The Bench

The continual absence of Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City matchday squad has generated lot of talks in the media in Nigeria and the world at large.

Iheanacho was for the third premier league game missing from the match day squad of the Etihad outfit when they left secured a late 2-1 win over Swansea City.

Gabriel Jesus scored both goals for Manchester City, and it has been widely speculated that the January signing is the reason why the Nigerian is now in the cooler at the Etihad.

However Fernandinho believes the team needed a lift following a string of results, which forced the manager to ring changes and Jesus has taken his chance with both hands.

” A new signing always lift the mood of the other players, especially a talented one like Gabriel Jesus. He came at a time when the manager was searching for solutions and he took his chance”, Fernandinho said.

” He is doing very well at the moment, not for himself but also for the team, we are all happy for him even those who are out of the team are backing him. We are united as one for the good of the team.”

Iheanacho did not get sidelined but Guardiola changed the attacking set up to one upfront. Unlike Pellegrini who had two strikers. With that, it is difficult for Iheanacho to secure games. Gabriel Jesus' playing pattern made it even more difficult for Iheanacho. Let us see how the second half of the season goes before a final verdict.

Ndidi Beats Zlatan, Mata & Mkhitaryan To BBC Man Of The Match Award, Dedicates Award To Cancer Awareness

Wilfred Ndidi has once again won the BBC man of the match award for his performances in Leicester City 0-3 loss to Manchester United in yesterday’s English Premier League clash.

Ndidi first won the award when he made his Leicester City debut in the 2-1 win over Everton in the FA Cup, and this time around despite his team poor performance he was once again honoured with the award.

BBC Matt Elliot gave him the Man of the Match award ahead of the likes of Manchester United trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlantan Ibrahimovic and Juan Mata.

Elliot credited the Nigerian for never giving up, and playing like his team have all to play for even when they were 3 goals down.

He also lauded Ndidi for coming up top in the midfield where he was up against the world most expensive signing Paul Pogba, who even picked up a booking for a foul on the 19 year old.

Ndidi who was also voted the Leicester City Man of the Match by Stuart Birtwistle dedicated the award as support for World Cancer Day.

Stats Reveal Moses And Azpilicueta Gelled On The Pitch Against Arsenal

According to the statisticians at Chelsea, Nigeria international Victor Moses and central defenderCésar Azpilicueta gelled perfectly in their 3-1 win against Arsenal on Saturday.

The most frequent pass combinations were Hazard to Pedro and Victor Moses to Azpilicueta.

Moses, 26, supported Pedro on the right wing and launched attacks from his fullback position whenever he had the opportunity.

The matchday 24 fixture against the Gunners was his 18th consecutive start for Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

Exclusive: Ighalo Handed Number Nine Jersey He Wore At Udinese By Changchun Yatai

Nigeria’s highest paid player and most expensive signing ever, Odion Ighalo, has been handed the number nine jersey at Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.

The number nine jersey is usually reserved for the top striker on a team, a clear indication that Changchun Yatai expect their new Nigerian star to lead the frontline in the new season.

At past club Watford, Ighalo played with the number 24 kit, while he suited up with the number seven kit in his final season at Granada.

He was handed the number nine and sixteen jersey at Udinese and Cesena respectively.

The Super Eagles star participated in his first training session with Changchun Yatai on Monday morning.

I don't think we are there yet o, allow Rohr build his team and hope for the best. Everyone that is saying Egypt were lucky, I disagree. They simply met a better side. A team that stopped us from qualifying Only thing I think you need against this Cameroonian side is possession football and quick short passes. Oh least I forget. Take ur chances!!!

The team will be almost well built before our game against them after series of friendly games and Afcon qualifier(s).

Yes, the pharaoh met the better side, Egypt outplayed and won Ghana, Ghana possessed the indomitable but they were unlucky, Egypt was overran and beaten by the indomitable. Indeed football is about mathematics, it's about the technical and tactical approach.

The egyptians played a one way traffic though out the tournament hence the bashing and the overrun they got from our neighbor, hector should have done better. Regardless how good they are and how better they will be, they will meet their waterloo against a well built eagles on 28/8 and :/9.

I think Rohr should work with his tools at his disposal first. With time, he can spread his net to accommodate more youngsters from other regions.

Do you really believe that? He should use the tools at his disposal. His tools are inadequate they are not comprehensive in thier coverage.

That by implication puts us at a disadvantag not advantage. He should be looking for the best available talents. Not the best most convenient talents available to him in Germany and the Netherlands.

I am disappointed that you with your understanding can give credence to such an inadequate approach.

It's beyond doubt that the UK has the largest pool of Nigerian origin footballers outside of Nigeria in the world.

And if he really knows his stuff he should be unearthing talents that have been overlooked in the lower English leagues.

U guys still don't get it. Form has nothing to do with Cameroon. They have found their spirit I don't care what tactics we bring, if we are not ready to give it all for our shirt then they beat us and go to the world cup. I am sure we can beat them but its not by mouth we have to want it badly, them winning should pain us into wanting our own laurels.
Exactly and well put. Truly on Match day I feel it's the team that adds more desire, more hunger, more energy to its tactical approach that would carry the day. We have to be really pent up about going to the world cup than Cameroun. In fact we should take it that we have nothing in the bag as per points and play them heart and soul like we played Cote d'Ivoire at AFCON 2013.

You are talking so much sense.

Recall after Nigeria featured at 2014 WC with all the cohesion we thought we had achieved we got thrashed by Congo PR in Uyo in our very first AFCON qualifiers game.

What would matter more in that August clash is the form of players of both teams at that time.

Zambia had never lost in Ndola till the Super Eagles landed, so?

That something has never happened only means the right person or people are yet to get on that stand, it doesn't mean it can't happen.

Like I said, you don't know SE, cuz if you did, you'd know, we must concede. I say 2:1
Hmmm... Zambia is Zambia, Cameroun is Cameroun.

We have a comparative head to head advantage against Zambia. Its easier winning them in Ndola than beating Cameroun who have a better head to head record, been to more world cups, won more Afcon and virtually they have bettered whatever we can boast of as an achievement in men's football.

If we approach that game with a wrong mindset. A mindset that we are the favourites, bullish and normal naija arrogance, we will have our azzez handed to us.

Rohr has a big history working with youths in Germany. He has a high network there to get details and comprehensive study of German talents. He will use what he has to scout talents. Or do you want him selecting talents he does not have in depth knowledge?

If someone asks you to provide talents, will you start looking for talents in Germany and Ukraine? You will work with those you have precise knowledge on. Rohr has deep network in Germany. He can contact the coaches of these young players with one call. Some of the coaches, he knows and trained them. He has watched lots of German youth games and seen these players.

Unless you want him manufacturing names from his head.

Rohr is not long with the National team and he is few games in. It takes years to build a National team. Rohr will unearth more talents but he has to start where he has deep knowledge.

Yup. It was this goalkeeper who saved them at home against Zambia during the World Cup qualifiers. If not for this goalkeeper, Cameroun would have lost the match by more than 2 goals, even with the shady penalty that the referee gifted to them.

It will be a mistake if we polish our player's ego so much they start believing they have already qualified.

lol....goodjoe, eez like you're forgetting that Kelechi will be turning 21 this year, not 19

You are also forgetting that Kelechi is a forward, not a goalkeeper

You are also forgetting that Kelechi is currently a regular for the Super Eagles who are gunning for a WC and AFCON ticket, not a bench player of a regular for Jamaica

Because if you are remembering these things, you wee not be yarning us host about "learning under good equipment and world class tutors"

There are many 20 year old graduates that have joined work force, many 20-year old apprentices that have been discharged to open their own shop. So please, what exactly is he learning as old as he is that he haff not reach to enter field? undecided

Very well said, Safari. At 21, Kelechi should be close to his peak not aspiring to be a back up to anybody. He should definitely ask for a loan move and find another club where he can play asap.

He's good enough to play for most club sides in the world, hence, if he isn't good enough for Pep then he should request a transfer. He cannot become world class by sitting on the bench....even if he's being benched by Messi. Our players should have better ambitions than that.

Tega would probably say yes is he ready for Eagles I don't know.

But I think Aino (Chelsea) as a wing back is, there should be consideration for the other Tega at Tottenham in midfield. I am more impressed with Ololomola at Southampton, but saying that Solanke at Chelsea (Striker) is a good prospect too.

Ibe at Bournemouth seems to be non starter he is disengaged from the Nigerian situation.

A welcome addition if the said reports are true. I've watched him closely more than a couple of times.
From my observations, he has a lovely first touch. Infact his first touch is a stuff of dreams. He has decent skills, just enough to get past his marker(s), good close control, surprisingly decent pace for a big man and decent with headers. He reminds me of Kluivert.
However, the down side of his game is his shooting and positioning. His shooting could be a little bit way ward at times, his strength and conditioning needs to improve as well, although that's not a flip side because those little details will improve as he comes of age.
One for the future.
