Ooooh, thank you so much for clearing all the doubt, God bless you, I think soonest when my passport is ready for collection I will have the tracking updated

Your case is quite confusing but as much as i can understand, your agent has access to you online account with CIC while you have your tracking details for VFS site.

Thing is, i don't think online application can be tracked on VFS website(stand to be corrected) but if you insist it was an online app, i really don't know what to think.

Also, if you are tracking on VFS site to see medical update, it is impossible. You won't see that. You only see movement of your application from VFS to the canadian embassy and when it starts being processed.
You only see real time update of your app through MYCIC account and not VFS website.

You agent apparently has more information and control over your application than you. So meet your agent, tell him or her to show you your account with CIC and ask questions. You have a RIGHT to that. Nobody here can know what has transpired all through your application. Let the agent know your worries and take control of your application. You paid for God sake! Unless it is a free something..Lol.

Congrats! I personally think your app have been approved.
Thank you brother, God bless you. I will get across to him

Wow, congrats dear. I don't think CIC will request for new admission letter now that der have requested for ur passport. But u will need to present a new admission letter at port of entry. Please when did u apply for this application?

Sorry bro some of these info are misleading.

Your answer to question number 1 is not all true.

Using someone in Canada as sponsor is not generally a good idea especially if such person will be bearing your full responsibility. Canadian govt want inflow of money into their system. Once your sponsor is already based in Canada, you're deemed an economy burden to Canada. More particularly since the person is a very close relative. This means you'd really need to work hard regarding your hometie. Am not saying this is not possible. Buh you should be very strategic about this. Ensure to get all relevant documents from him. how many dependents does he have ? I hope he's very buoyant financially? Cos the visa officer will be extremely unforgiving if he/she finds any discrepancy in your sponsor's documents.

Your answer to question number 2 is extremely far-fetched and entirely not apposite in the circumstance. Use of representative form is applicable to someone who wants his personal information as regards his visa application released to a specific individual or third party or if his brother is submitting his visa application on his behalf. The op has not indicated any of these, therefore there is no need for him to submit use of representative form since he would be applying himself. Furthermore, he risks the chances that cic would only communicate with his brother and not him and as such he may not be fully updated with respect the status of his application.

Your answer to question 3 is not true also. We've said repeatedly on this thread that the easiest way a sponsor can show commitment to support you financially is for the sponsor to roll some funds into your personal account. Leave the funds for a while before printing your soa. Your sponsor should indicate in his sponsorship letter that in furtherance of his commitment to sponsor you, he has transferred some funds to your account on a mentioned date. He should oblige you with his soa, so that the VO attending to your application can see for himself that indeed the funds in your account are from your sponsor. Your soa and that of your sponsor would reflect the said transaction. More so if you have your personal funds, you should indicate it somewhere.

Answer to question number 4 is very true.

Answer to question 5: Nobody can categorically state the timeline for a visa application. Each application is peculiar. Some go as far as 20 weeks, 17 weeks, 30 weeks and in the same vein some get decision from cic within 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 7 weeks etc. It all depends on the VO.

Answer to question 6 and 7 are correct.

@frankrobbn1 please be properly guided.

Thank you so much for your advice

Hello everyone...

I graduated with a low GPA (about a 2.83/4.00 Canadian scale). I know my chances of getting a masters admission is low, at the same time PGC/D refusal rate is scary.
Now I'm considering taking the GRE to kind of compensate for my low grades but so far all the schools I checked want minimum of 3.0.

I'm a Statistics and Demography major, finished from OAU, will be done with NYSC by April.

I want to do Data Science or something related to Analytics , even Trent and UofWesternOntario want 3.0.. I just don't know what to do.
I think I have a shot at getting admission at University of Fraser Valley Data Analysis PGD program but na trv refusal Dey scare me.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of schools that might accept my low gpa coupled with GRE.

PS: I'm only asking cos I've exhausted all the list of schools I found online not like I've been idle to do research.

Thanks.

You will just waste money on GRE if it is not needed. When it is not required, they won't consider it, even if you have perfect GRE score. Don't waste your money! That GRE cost can pay 2-3 application fee in Canadian schools

Oh thanks so much. Thanks for been very explicit

But I need clarity. Do colleges give PGD and which one is PGC by the way. Would you suggest a PGD?

Thanks once again
toluine56:

Yes you can apply but keep the following in mind:

1. There are some questions you should direct to your school cos only they can give you accurate answers.

2. You have a masters degree and a masters degree is generally considered higher than a college diploma (assuming youre going for a PGD or PGC) by the visa officers (those that'll screen your visa application). many have been refused visa for this sole reason.

3. Your best bet will be going for another masters degree.

Note that some have been successful going for PGD, PGCs, albeit with a low succession rate.

Cheers

Yes, Concordia requires your proof of English proficiency.

First, I will love to find out if concordia university, Montreal, requires proof of English proficiency for Nigerians to study Info systems sec. If yes can I do that after the application deadline or after the admission?

you have a very good chance with pgd/pgc, if you have good and well presented app who says u wont get ur trv approved? have said this quite a number of time on this thread. CIC never said they wont give any1 with pgd/pgc trv if they deserve it.

the issue is we the applicants. imagine an applicant who studied agriculture in UG and now gets a pgc admission for nursing without no experience and u expect that to fly, it will not. the choice of course is what makes it looks as if pgd/pgc dont get approval easily, a friend of mine was approved just 5wks of submitting his app last year, he was a pgd applicant, i think his approval is one of the fastest av seen for pgd so far.

so not to bore u with all this, if you have a good choice of course and a well detailed SOP, pointing out the reasons while u chose the course and stating the prospect of the course on your return from study. i think you do have a good chance. make your application convincing in all aspect and with a good financial power u should be good to go.

like someone said earlier, ur GRE cant take the place of CGPA, these two are two different parameters used by any admission committee in rolling out admission to applicants, they play different roles. i'll even say its better to have a low GRE and av perfect CGPA for admission cox ur low GRE performance can be explained in your SOP but CGPA is a long history of ur academic performance over years, GRE is just few hours exam so any good explanation would fly for the low score in the SOP. all the best.

Guys, he said to the best of his knowledge. That some of the suggestions he made is incorrect isn't enough to say "brother I tire o". Haba, is it not the prerogative of the person asking the question to collect as much info as he can and then do his own research? Don't discourage someone that opted to provide advice by making him look like he is dumb or dubious. Make corrections but don't be condescending or insensitive about it. It is not like your advice is 100% guaranteed to result in a success. Besides he never suggested anything shifty or criminal

Hello, are you sure that grade is correct? I once mailed a university asking for Nigeria CGPA equivalence and I got to know that 3.7 ( Canada) =4.2(Nigeria).

If your class if degree is 2:1, I think your chance ain't that slim.

Lol bro...take am easy. No need to come at me.

I didn't insult him and I think the guy in question and I are cool. I am only stating for the record that we should endeavour to answer questions only when and if we're almost certain of our answers so as not to mislead others. We're all here to help each other. If your proposed program is relevant to academic history...then I think your sop was not convincing enough. Sorry bro for the refusal. Draft a new and compelling sop with detailed study plan and career objectives.

Your sop should state the situation of the ict sector in Nigeria and how lucrative it is. Put Nigeria population into perspective. Paint your proposed program as extremely demanding in Nigeria.

What are your career prospects and goal ? Professional development? Previous experience in your proposed program? Any project or portfolio in your proposed program? Etc. Your sop should do the trick anyway. Buh if your program is in consistent with your previous academic history, you should consider lookin for another program or gunning for a masters degree in a related field.
