Who do you think is the more creative and versatile between the two.

If I am to be honest it is not clear cut, these things can be quite subjective.

However, when I see how Aluko has had to adapt his game to accommodate carpenters, guts and effort players. My opinion is Aluko may be more versatile and better than Iwobi who has only played in that Arsenal clean, technically based passing set up.

However, let Rohr invite both to camp and decide what suits the team best.

just as Taiwo was more of an LM than LB.
Echiejile has not gotten better over the years. Still can't dislodge the LB in Gijon.

I have always seen the guy as more of a winger than a LB.

I would say for close to 3 decades this is the lowest point in our LB position. Starting from Algiers 90 when we had Ben Iroha to Celestine Babayaro to Taiye Taiwo to Elderson Echiejile. Echiejile is the worst but he is still our best choice for now. undecided

My brother, Ive noticed owgoal likes to post fake news.
Let me correct one of your posts.

1. Madu was fielded as a left back not a winger in their 4-1 win over St. Truiden
2. #1 above was only achieved with the absence of regular left back Hamalainen Brian on the match-day squad.

As regards your list, its just based on owngoalnigeria's fantasy. No credible source.

I agree. Which is why we need to forget back 4, at least for now. prefarably, 3-5-2, or 3-4-3. And no it's not creating a problem by trying to solve a problem. It is having a better problem. We can find another solid CB, but the chances of us finding a solid LB is very slim.

Playing that 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation for our national team is like trying to stand on a 4 sided table that has only 3 legs. It would surely collapse. I am sure u watched the last AFCON where some team were almost playing 5 defenders. Conditions are different between clubs and national teams especially here in Africa were teams play with so much intensity. We have to make do with the LB options we have for now & hope dtone day a LB in the class of Iroha, Babayaro or Taiwo is reborn undecided

The problem is some of us don't understand the dynamics of those formations. let me try to explain.
Playing without dedicated full back does not mean absence of players in that position. Let me adapt the situation to our Super Eagles team. Let me just add this before I do that. For your information 3-4-3 is Rohr's second choice after 4-2-3-1.

Now consider this formation FOR EXAMPLE:

Ndidi----Agu----Mikel----Moses

--Ekong----Omeruo--Balogun--

--------------Ikeme-------------

this is how it looks when the team is in attack. we have 3 dedicated CBs.

1. Balogun has RB defensive tendencies though fielded as a CB here. meaning he plays both roles, while Moses falls back to support when we are defending.
2. Same applies in the Left, as it has to do with Ndidi and Ekong.

Ndidi, like Moses can cover lots of miles during a game. meaning they have stamina and are full with lots of running. very important qualities if u must run to fall back and support when needed, and advance as well. These two players have the qualities to carry that weight, and thats a big plus for a team who has such kind of players. We need to take advantage of these strengths in them to reduce our deficiency in the full back position.

Permit me to add. Phillipe Trousier played 3-5-2 in our best World Cup Qualifying journey since 94. Many African teams have not embraced the science in football. The just stick to one formation almost all the time.

Nice analysis on the 3-5-2 formation. The back 3 quickly disolves into a back five when defending. However, I will choose Aluko or Kingsley Madu in place of Ndidi at LWB.
Although Aluko will be my first choice. In the wing back position, you need fast runners who can fall back when defending and quickly push up to support the attack.

The closest we have to Danny Rose and Alonso are Aluko and Kingsley Madu. If you watch the Ngr Vs Tanzania game in Daresalam, Kingsley Madu showed a lot of promise in that LwB role. He was named the man of the match.
Aluko have the speed and grit to defend and speed to run deep from the wings.

Icon4s, I think Egypt and Morocco used this formation at the Just concluded Afcon.

See, I understand the dynamics of those 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formations.

As I always say club conditions and national team conditions are always different especially here in Africa.

1. The pitch and weather conditions at Stamford bridge for eg is not same as what we have in Uyo. The 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 formation requires a high work rate from the wing backs. If u expect Moses to run for 90mins on that Uyo pitch the same way he does at Stamford bridge or any other stadium in Europe then u are in for a long thing.

2. The level of discipline exhibited by our players at club level is far different from what they exhibit when they wear our colors. That formation requires serious discipline, team cohesion and understanding. The national players do not have enough time to master the formation.

You are putting Ndidi as a wing back while u forgot his near catastrophic outing in Ndola.

If you read my post carefully, you will notice, "FOR EXAMPLE".

My main purpose was to analyze the formation.

And by saying 3-4-3 is Rohr's second choice formation, that already tells you the players are most likely already familiar with that formation in training. Just as I think it was in Chelsea's situation. They didn't just wake up to change formation one day.

Mine was just an example. Madu is just now starting to play. but let's see what happens when preferred LB returns in Waregem. Aluko cannot defend. correct me if i'm wrong.

I suggest, Moses can play left wing back as well.
Can't Ndidi play Right wing back?

These are countries that have most of their players in the same league. They spend more time camp to perfect strategies while waiting for a handful of their foreign pros. Also u can't compare the level of tactical discipline exhibited by the North African countries with those of the sub-Saharan countries.

BTW, I never noticed what u just stated as their style of play. I dnt know most of their players one-on-one. So it is difficult to say who was playing where or what. Or which style they adopted.

Some of these players mentioned I do not know and it is impossible for me to comment. Why are they not in better teams as opposed to lowly Belgium and Dutch league's.

A multitude of reasons agent arrangements, club valuation issues, work permit issues, etc. A player may have the opportunity to play in the EPL but not the opportunity to gain access.

However, for those players that do not have that restriction like our somewhat over rated increasingly mixed parentage centre backs. I ask why are they struggling to hold down regular game time in thier respective clubs and lowly leagues at that.

Can we not do better. I can see the clamour for Ilori to be invited because let's be honest if these guys were in the EPL can we confidently say they would be able to cut it in the EPL

I wonder are things this baad is this the best we can do l. Compared to the quite recent past we seem to have regressed. I fear we could be open for a rude awakening.

Omeruah is far from top quality before anybody mentions him. I had big expectations on Obabona but after last AFCON he's fizzled out even Sunday Mba. What is going on

I mentioned Kingsley Madu because I believe in his talent, having watched him closely on his debut against Tanzania away. Bagging man of the match award on your debut in a high pressure Afcon qualifier away from home says a lot about his abilities.
Aluko on the wings defends well. I believe he can cope just like Moses is doing at the right these days.

Ndidi should be the last person to be considered on the wing back position. For some reasons, I see Ndidi dropping back to the Centre back in the near future.
I honestly see him metamorphysing into a world class CB after horning his skills as a DM.

Havre Rennard played a dedicated 3-5-2 all tournament.

You're not entirely correct about the north Africans playing with an entire home based team. The Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisians have evolved, especially having so many of their foreign born players switching nationality to hook up with them.

Ex-Everton Star Yakubu : I Found It Difficult To Return To Form After 2010 AFCON

Out-of-favour Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni has revealed that he found it difficult to adjust to the Premier League whenever he returned to England from the African Cup of Nations.

The Coventry City number 22 does not have a good view about the pitches in Africa, adding that it took him up to two weeks to get back to form.

“It is quite difficult to come back from an Africa Cup of Nations in the middle of the season. It’s a different kind of football and you have to change your mentality for the tournament, ” Yakubu told evertonfc.com

“It can be difficult in Africa - a lot of the pitches aren’t great which makes it tough.

“I found it took two or three weeks to get back up to full speed after returning, which I think is the case for a lot of players.”

Yakubu was part of the Super Eagles squad at four African Cup of Nations tournaments, with his last appearance being the 2010 edition in Angola.

Super Eagles Striker Scouted By Chelsea In FA Cup Clash Against Tottenham Hotspur

Former CSKA Moscow coach Leonid Slutsky was one of the distinguished guests at Craven Cottage, where Fulham took on Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday.

It has been reported that the ex-Russia manager, who was sitting next to Alan Pardew, was in the stands to run the rule over the players from both teams.

English journalist Jonathan Wilson has claimed that Slutsky is close to Roman Abramovich and has been doing some scouting for Chelsea.

However, the Head of CSKA, Mikhail Baryshev, has stressed that their former manager is only undergoing training at the Academy of Sport in the UK.

Three players of Nigerian heritage featured in the game, Sone Aluko for Fulham plus Dele Alli and Josh Onomah for Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte also attended the match between the two London teams which finished 3-0 in favour of Spurs.

Man City Reply Nigerian : We Can Beat Barcelona Not Huddersfield, Football Is Amazing

English Premier League side Manchester City have replied a Nigerian supporter, who was bothered that they could not beat Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

During the group stage of the Champions League, City registered a 3-1 victory over mighty Barcelona but could only battle to a goalless draw against second-tier Huddersfield Town at The John Smith’s Stadium.

Shola Ogunbajo tweeted to Man City : “We can defeat Barcelona but can’t beat Huddersfield!!! Football is cruel”.

The Citizens backed him, replying :“And also amazing! ”
Pep Guardiola’s side will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Monaco in theChampions League Round of 16,Game 1 on Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium.

Leicester Star Musa Writes Off Millwall : They Scored With Their Only Chance

Ahmed Musa was disappointed in the wake of Leicester City’selimination from the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, and has stressed that the Premier League champions controlled large spells in the game but were unlucky to lose.

The Nigeria international has admitted that his teammates and manager Claudio Ranieri cut forlorn figures as they stepped into the dressing room at the end of the contest at The Den.

“Everybody in the team, we are so angry, we are so upset. We had the confidence that we are going to win the game because we played very well,” Musa told LCFC TV.

“But at the end of the ninety minutes they just had only one chance and scored a goal.

“It was a very difficult game for us and everybody- the manager, the boys - is upset in the dressing room.”

Musa was one of the most impressive Leicester City players, especially in the first half, but was unfortunate not to add to his tally in the FA Cup.

“We are unlucky today. In the first half we could have scored almost 3-0. We are unlucky today, that is football,” the Leicester City number seven concluded.

Next up for Ahmed Musa and his Leicester City teammates is a trip to Spain, where they face Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Nigerians Urge Rohr To Call Up Millwall Young Sensation Fred Onyedinma

Millwall exciting winger Fred Onyedinma caught the eye of followers of the beautiful game back in his homeland after his imperious display against Leicester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

And they have urged Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to invite him to the national team as soon as possible before he joins a big team, with the likes of Watford, Hull City and Queens Park Rangers monitoring his progress.

Folarin tweeted : “Millwall’s Fred onyedinma has been impressive against Leicester, bright future ahead..might be a future super eagle too @ColinUdoh”.

sambambam09 commented via Twitter :“Millwall’s Onyedinma seems a hot prospect for Nigeria. I think it will be nice to cap him for our national team b4 his big move”.

London-born Fred Onyedinma is not entirely an unknown quantity in these parts as Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia attempted to include him in the squad for the 2016 Olympic Games but he failed to attend the get-together in Abuja.

If the 20-year-old decides to play for Nigeria, the NFF will skip red tape since he has not played for England at any level.

Do we have people who follow NPFFL consistently on this thread?

If we do then it should provide some solutions to some hands that are lacking in the national team.

It's crazy to believe our league can't produce quality defenders or the Super Eagles.

We need to also as a matter of urgency spread our search light to unearth the likes of Stephen Odeh, Nwobodo, etc.

Some of these guys as raw as they may seem to be might provide solution to some areas in the national team.

Who says some homebased players can not top strike for Super Eagles sef.

Enough of this over dependence on foreign based.

If Stephen Odeh was playing in any of the average leagues in Europe, person 4 no hear word again.

Lagos State government has expressed its willingness to renovate the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode made the state’s intent known when he paid a condolence and courtesy visit to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, at his residence in Abuja at the weekend.

“I will like to bring the National Stadium to life. The last time a game was played there was in 2005.

There is also the employment aspect of football and hosting of matches at the stadium. That includes the jerseys, branding, mama put, the sign writers, the supporters, merchandising, and so on. We want to bring back the football culture of Lagos State to the National Stadium after its renovation,” Ambode said.

Dalung thanked the governor for his visit and praised Lagos for its successful hosting of the second Lagos City Marathon. He called on the state government to add more entertainment and culture to the event in subsequent editions to get more youths involved and to ensure that Nigerians benefit more from the whooping prize money.

On the renovation of the National Stadium, the minister said
he would go through their proposal and work on it.“It is only fair that we hand over the stadium to Lagos State for renovation since we’ve given to Enugu, Bauchi and Kaduna states. ‘’

Yes, that is what matters most.
Nawa o Iwobi vs Aluko Is the new Deal now.

They are both good at starting and finishing counter attacks, their hold on the ball is almost similar.

Vision and passes, I'll give it to Aluko

Aluko would pass to you to set him up for a direct attack, Iwobi would rather give the passing to set you up.

Defending, I give iwobi,

But definite eye for goal, I'll give Aluko

Which means that if Ideye is on, Aluko would team better with him Based on his style of play

Overall Iwobi would thrive in a starter, and Aluko as a super sub.
