FAQ 6

Hello,
My name is *** and I really need your assistance, please help a brother. How much can sustain me in a month in sk before I get a factory job that can cover my accommodation, feeding, and transport because I read from previous thread on nairaland from acadollar that only factory jobs are available for Africans who can't speak the language and one can work in sk without waiting for the 6months rule? Can one apply for Master's program by December to resume by March/April? how many days a week does Master's students have lectures? And lastly can the salary from the factory job be enough to pay my tuition fees and living expenses for the next semester till I round up the program.my sponsor really want to know all these to avoid any risk of being deported back and I believe you would know better than I, I always like to make proper research before traveling to a white man country to avoid problems. Please kindly help me with your reply. Thanks.i intend starting the process by 2017.

Hi ***,
Your monthly expenditure depends on some varying factors which includes: your location in SK, your Institution and your lifestyle.
Some location such as Seoul, Deajon, Suwon etc are pretty more expensive than a few others like Gumi and Deagu. Also, your institution could offer you dormitory which could be a little more expensive than other dormitories of other Universities. So it all depends.
That been said, i guess u would require a minimum monthly average of about $600 USD (for housing & feeding), if you intend staying in rented apartments in SK.

About the factory Jobs, well, i cannot comment on that 'cos the information did not come from me neither am I gonna be speaking for Bros. Acadollar. But yes, there are sustainable jobs here for foreign students.

About Classes, again it depends on your institution's calendar and your department's Time Table.

Finally, about December applications, pls make your research on some institutions programs and application deadlines...that should guide you as per when to apply.
For KIT, IT IS CLOSED for the Spring Semester admissions (March/April), unless your are coming for ONLY Korean language study.

Cheers

FAQ 7

Good day, *** is my name from Lagos Nigeria. I got your email address from nairaland. please i plan to apply for korea study visa in a month time at their embassy in Lagos and i want to ask few questions from you regarding the requirement. I will be grateful if you can please answer my questions.
1) What other document do i need to get from my sponsor apart from his Bank statement, affidavit and sponsorship letter? because some people said the sponsor should have tax clearance, memorandum and company document but i was confused when i saw the document u named on nairaland that you submitted to the embassy. pls shed more light on this.
2) How much money is expected of my sponsor to have in his account ? I have certified my Credentials from MFA and Ministry of Education since 2014. Will it be acceptable for submission at the embassy. waiting for your reply. Thanks

Hello ***,

Thank you for writing me.

First, it would be great for me to know what program you are coming-in for(Language/UG/PG/PhD) and who really your sponsor is(Nigerian, foreigner or South Korean), 'cos that would further help me to answer you well enough.
There are procedures for a foreign-sponsor but for a Nigerian sponsor, all you require is his/her bank statement, a supporting letter duly signed and attested by him/her and by the notary public. Additional docs would just be a plus.

For the bank acct current figures, you may have to seek direct info from the SK Embassy, but as at the time of my own applications, it was minimum of $10,000 USD.(sponsors acct).
You really do not need to have your docs certified by the MFA and the ME in case you are applying through Lagos Embassy 'cos its not required, but since you have done that already, it sure would be a plus on you.

Finally, i would rather suggest you find time to visit the SK Embassy and get concrete/genuine information before sending-in your applications. At-least it wont hurt to do so right? I did that twice before finally sending-in my own applications. Wish you the very best at it.

Kindest regards

NB: Sender coming-in for a Master Degree Program.

Compliments to you too.
For you to come to SK for study, you would require a whole lot which includes huge finances and lots of documentation works and all of that cannot be achieved if you are not well prepared or have a willing sponsor(like parents) to foot the bills.

If truly you are 17, i suggest you take your time to sit for JAMB/PCE and try-out the Nigerian Universities first and see what life offers afterwards. You are way too young and fresh to fight your way through the Nigerian Education system. Why the rush for SK Education?

Cheers

Hi Raph,

First major and basic step is to check your documentations.
Do you have the necessary and required docs such as an English test score, clean and impressive O-Level result, ETC
Securing ADM here isn't that a rocket science if only you satisfy their basic ADM conditions.

I encourage you to start with that first and possibly consider the next ADM intake which opens up from May/June this year.

Cheers

1. All disciplines in Engineering are a huge hit here after studies.
2. Language is exactly not a barrier to getting a professional job here after studies, but it is a huge plus factor which must be considered in case of long term stay here in Korea.
3. ...And don't worry about the pay package, cos they are huge.

1. Age is exactly not a barrier to getting ADM here in Korea, but yes, some Top notch Univ. may raise a red flag esp'ly when you have huge redundant/unfilled gaps after your high school till now. Hence, i suggest you to dust up all the docs you have(after high school) and have them tendered, they sure would play a huge role in getting you ADM.

2. Also start with a not too competitive University and Program.

As i know quite well, all schools would sure accept the prescribed base limit required by the SK Embassy. Hence, your major focus should be the academic fees and ways you could get scholarships(or fee reductions), rather than their required SOA.

I believe we have all stressed the need for you all to have the required docs before sending-in your applications in order not to waste ur hard-earned resources and time too. If Schools easily waives-off English Tests scores, i am sure someone like me would not have attached it also in my Application(cos i have studied in English medium all through my life). You must face the reality(correct documentations) if you must conquer your fears(ADMISSION).

....And for SOA, i suggest you take it step by step by starting with securing ADM first before VISA Application requirements.

Thanks so much bro, my elder sister wants to sponsor me, but she is married and now bears another surname. So I'm wondering if the SK embassy will agree she is my sister. I ask this because I will be presenting her statement of account as my sponsor and also my personal account which has about a million naira. Please bro, what's my chances?
NB I'm going for my masters program.
Thanks
