Sergey Brin is a co-founder of Google - now called Alphabet. The basic foundation of Google is mathematical in nature; what I'm trying to say is this, if not for mathematics, there would probably be no Google. Go online and search for 'PageRank algorithm' and you'll see what I'm talking about. Maths is actually very important. I really do not want to list more of its importance, it will cloud the entire thread.

Mathematics is one hell of an abstract subject. This is its major problem. We rely too much on formal education. Creativity built and rules the world, but formal education presently is designed to recycle ideas which helped ancient socities to solve their problem, while discouraging creative thinking. Formal education produces educated and productive citizens while creative thinkers whether they are educated or not, are the billionaires, the inventors, and people who advance civilizations.

Elementary mathematics is a tool you need all through life, in fact, x & y built this world & everything we see & use today. For example, I would never have understood complex Engineering mathematics if i didn't first search for x & y in my youthful days. The x & y were the bedrock of the complex 'useful' mathematical applications i now use today.

If you think looking for x & y or learning mathematics is useless, do not enrol your child in a school or enrol them and exempt mathematics from their subjects and observe what will become of their analytical reasoning.

If you think knowledge is useless, try ignorance.

You're taking things too far - we all know the importance of mathematics and DON'T need you to remind us mr two goody shoes angry

Let me enlighten you a bit.
Real life application maths in our day to day activities

1. You bought rice 50N, meat 50N gave mama risi 200N. How much change would you collect? Let X be the change. Then 50+50+X =200 this implies X= 100. Thus your change is 100N

2. Suppose you go to an atm post and there are 3 queues. Queue 1 has 7 people waiting in line, Queue 2 has 5, Queue 3 has 10. All things be equal and it takes an average of 1 min for a person to be done. Then you know you'll spend 7 means in Queue 1 , 5 in 2 and 10 in 3. What do you do? you go to Queue where you'll spend less time. You've minimised your time already.

The list goes on and on. We all apply maths in one way or the other without even realising it. Unless you are a real dumb ass
