Religion Is Against The Poor And Their Plight by akintom(m): 3:02pm On Feb 27, 2017 |
Written by Fela Gbado Between me and my student this morning after our discussion in a course titled "theory and practice of Marxism". Student: Sir, you said religion was against the poor and and their plight? Me: yes it is. Student: Explain why it is that the poor tend to be more religious in society. Me: what else can they do when all they've been brought up to think is "prayer is the key, prayer is the master key"? Religion sells them hope, it tells them how much of an ultimate solution prayer is. It tells them to ask and they'll receive, seek and they'll find, knock and the door will be open for the love of the Lord has no end. When their prayers go unanswered, they are told to wait for God's appointed time. They go ahead to tell about Sarah who bore at 90. By the way, it is practically impossible for a female human to bear at 90. Women are born with all the eggs they'll ever have. From puberty, they start releasing them 1 by 1. By middle ages, the eggs must have been exhausted so how possible is it for Sarah to conceive at 90 without eggs? A man with sufficient knowledge of biology won't contemplate writing this anywhere. But that's religion, they tell the poor this nonsense and threaten them with hell should they challenge the ideas. That's why I talked about the scientific method earlier. Religion creates a false reality, force it down on people and immune it from scientific scrutiny. So, in all societies, the ruling class jettison standard scientific methods, create a reality that fits a thinking that's beneficial to them then force others to take them. Such realities force people to take inequality as natural and part of a bigger plan from the owner(s) of the universe. Also, religion offers some form of hope to the poor. Think about words like "it's easier for the camel to pass... Blessed are the poor in spirit for they shall..." etc etc. Why would you not expect the poor to be more religious besides, they are in general more poorly educated? Any objections? Student: silence Me: class? Class: silence. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hi Sir, I don't mean any harm, but may I ask what happened in your life for you to have such a cynical view of spirituality? |
Re: Religion Is Against The Poor And Their Plight by akintom(m): 1:15pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
MZLady39:I just hope you asked based on honest and intelligent curiosity. I was a Christian (climax of which was been a President of TACSFON - student fellowship on campus). All together, i had over 20yrs Christian religion experience (got born again at age 12 and counting from then). I rejected believe in god idea and religion about 2yrs ago. This decision was informed by honest and intelligent reading of many books and viewing videos (majorly neuroscientific and biopsychology). Reading these books and videos without religious lens, inspires what i write about god and religion today. And mind you, am not cynical in my views about god idea, am been honest and rational in my thinking. 1 Like |

akintom: Then you've not met God yet. If you've there are things you would have witnessed that science cannot explain. There are things you would have seen that you will never get to see in any book. There are things you would would have done that will seem be so foolish to others. The years you've spent in church doesn't matter. It's the years God has spent in your life that matter. 1 Like |

luvmijeje:You are so filled with spiritual insight! I bless God for he still has people in this generation with so much wisdom to bluntly and plainly show the world the poverty of the rich, folly of the wise, madness of the sane.. A President of The Apostolic Church Student Fellowship of Nigeria, a Xtian of over 20years searching for spiritual insight in evil literature! How can a man who has been washed, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost submit to the devil? Most of them never really went far with God! When you taste God, you can only want more!! Amen. May God deliver him! Ild be praying for you if by chance God Grace can move the extra mile to save you. |

enshy: Stop been patronizing. You sound wimpy and sorrowful now, the very character of the Holier than thou(s). The very character of them, who assume things that bear no intelligent thinking and bereft of sense in eliciting enquiry. Who told you that i was searching "spiritual insights" in the books that i read? I was doing my academic literature review with the books and videos that i mentioned. The deductions that i came out with, was what helped me know and understand god idea and religion for what it is. Has your god been able to answer your own prayers? When your voice cracks, you will be forced to abandon your soliloquy. 1 Like |

akintom: Sir Akintom, Thanks for responding. By no means would I ask a question based on anything but an honest and intellectual curiosity. I know you don't know me, but I'm not shy when it comes to asking questions (although I hope I'm not over-stepping any boundaries). I sincerely am curious and I'm not asking in order to ridicule or mock you....I'm too old for childish things. Instead of me holding in something...and suffering...I ask. I ask questions a lot. Now it becomes the other person's choice if he/she wants to answer. I have come to realize that most atheists were not born that way. Something happens in their life that causes the change. I really have never been "around" so many atheists as this (here in NL). I had one Caucasian male in my college days who was one. I didn't even know...others told me and then one day he started speaking about it in a class discussion. |

akintom:Get this: I dont pray to a god but God...I guess thats where u had issues. You never really had a relationship with God..Your case might be synonymous to the greek scholars of Pauls days who had the inscription 'to an unknown god'.. They didnt know whom they served. I know whom I serve and if he chooses not to hear my prayers (though he hears me), I love my Master, I wont go out free. Im sold out! The wicked one cometh and 'findeth nothing in me' Im soo enjoying this folly called Christianity! If you think Im lost, then, may I be lost forever in Christ! My God, whom I serve in spirit and truth will hear every word of my prayers! I dont pray meat, money, heal me: I search to know His Will and pray it down in Faith, the rains come down! Amen!! I am not in Christ for personal gains, Im in to know His Will and do it faithfully thats why the devil is frurstrated and cant lure me! I dont want food, I want Jesus! 1 Like |

MZLady39:Are you of the view that religious beliefs are genetically bestowed? MZLady39:It's an erroneous and religious imposed stereotype, to think been an atheist, one must have been disillusioned. A Google search will better enlighten the apologists, on the behavioral metamorphosis that culminate in becoming an atheist. |

enshy:Now your case is fixed. You're either new on this section or you're just not familiar with my writings. Atheists don't differentiate deities, with case type. I particularly refer to the Christian God, with any of the following: * god * Jewish Idol * Jewish doG * Yahweh So, stop fooling around mere case type. |

Re: Religion Is Against The Poor And Their Plight by enshy: 10:52pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
CatfishBilly:Bro, since it means nothing, does it cost much to type big case? Thats the proper convention regardless of whether anyone believes in Him or not cos I know you dont too. The insults you hurl at Him dont even move Him, it doesnt even get at Him neither does it make Him lesser than who He is, you hurt your emotions and put yourself in danger of judgment talk less of spelling His name with lower case. |

But, I want to ask you a question that pulls up your past. Did you at any point in those days of your presidency as the fellowship president in any sense get anyone filled with the Holy Ghost or saw anyone got filled with the Holy Ghost during your term in office, and what explanation do you have for that? |

Re: Religion Is Against The Poor And Their Plight by GodsMopol: 1:34am On Mar 01, 2017 |
avaa: I would like to remind you of this facts Firstly, God is not in anyway in charge of the earth, it might take a long of explanations, but I would try all my possible best to make it short. Lets start by the question of the coming of Jesus Why did Jesus come, Jesus came, because man died, that's the summary, God wanted a perfect earth, but what happened was Man that was put in charge of all, could not exercise his authority over what he was put in charge of, it's as if I give you a phone to hold from me, and when I came back, you could not find the phone, so Jesus has to come and give Man the phone, but this time, instead of going to the man to use the phone that was originally given to man, the phone is with Jesus, and we can use the phone only if we go to Jesus, the reason is, Man,if given the total right to the phone would necessitate that Jesus comes again to die, I believe you understand my mystery. Now, in Gen 1:26 spoke about overall the earth, and psalms 115v16 said sth like that too. Lemme add a little info you might also need. After man could lost the phone to the devil, the devil told Jesus and some demons questioned Jesus saying, have you come to torment us before the time, another place in Luke 4:6, the devil expressly told Jesus about the phone that man lost, now lemme go back to how all this problem started. The problem started, I really don't want this post to be long, to be sincere, but, I just have to explain this things so you could know a few things. God made a prophecy in Gen 3:15, Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. The Woman's seed was Jesus, and it was in hell this prophecy would be fulfilled, because it was in hell, spirit can come in contact with spirit, flesh lost it, so flesh had to claim it back, it was a divine principle, God had the choice of destroying the earth, and lemme say this, God has destroyed so many times, accounting for dinosaurs years, I will NO MORE DESTROY THE EARTH WITH FLOOD Gen9:15, be fruitful multiply and REPLENISH the earth. Gen 1:28. But what am actually trying to paint is, the devil did all he could to get or make a fool of the prophecy, that's why we have wickedness in high place of authorities. The devil started polluting everything on earth, he went as far as transforming his fallen angels to beings who slept with women and the gave birth to half devil, half humans-genetics, and that resulted in giants, God never created gaints like Goliath and the likes, and this angels became wicked men because the angels in them directed them to achieve the fact that that prophecy does not come to pass. Now, you question is, why was God quiet, if you notice, God wanted to destroy the earth like he has been doing before, but a man found grace in the sight of God, Noah, I believe God saw a seed of purity within Noah and his household and he saw a possibility of His prophecy come to pass Lemme close, God would not force man to do anything, man has his will, also, man has the right to earth, now that, lemme use a different scenario, probably the phone scenerio, as long as man does not have the phone anymore, anyone who would use the phone must in one way or the other, collect an approval to get the phone or assess the phone, the phone was the whole world, Gods plan of doing things was, man would pray to God, and God in turn would use the prayers of man to achieve what man needed, but to possess full ownership of the phone, a spiritual being has to go to hell, where Satan dwells and through death, Jesus overcame the devil who have power over death, and then was the phone collected and boomerang |

GodsMopol: Facts? There must be a new definition of that word. Or maybe there is a theistic version of the word. FYI, I don't take the bible serious, why? Because its alleged divine inspiration can never be authenticated and therefore should be doubted on the basis of its many internal contradictions and outrageous claims. Moreover, why should I take your holy book more serious when there are tens, if not hundreds of others in circulation, and better written too? 1 Like |

avaa: Looool, contradiction you say, actually probably you take them out of contest, if you must understand a verse of the Bible, I would advise that you don't lift verses, but rather, try to understand the vain of thought, probably, you might later come to understand that, the more you look and study, the less you see until it all vanishes away, there are no contradiction in the Bible except that you engage in lifting verse without understanding the light that verse was used. Many muslims claim that too, n I have exam some n |

GodsMopol: Context is usually the escape button whenever you (Christians) are being called out on the many contradictions of the bible. Pray tell, how do you know when a verse is to be taken literally and when it should be understood in context? Gen 1&2 is an embarrassment to the bible authors, how can you make such errors just two chapters into a book you intend to sell to the whole world? What about the inconsistencies with the characters of Yahweh? How about the despicable many characters of his, vengeful, jealousy, murderer, racist, hateful, anger etc. Sounds like a real scum to me. At least gods are supposed to be better than the humans they created, but your Yahweh is made to look like some insecure puny human with self-esteem issues. Doesn't it bother you? Google 'bible contradictions' and you will be embarrassed by the results. This is a book supposedly inspired by the maker of the universe. Very poor job. 1 Like |

Lemme first start by saying, sometime ago, I ran into a muslim Lady who came to pass the night in our house, and I never knew she was a muslim, she sings all our Christian song, but I was shocked to later know she was a Christian. She went to a school where you must attend the church and the mosque, I think she started seeing somethings better explained in the muslim path that she was not really clear about in the Christian line. I believe many Christians sit in church everyday without knowing for a bit the reason they were there, and we see it as a pain when we are told to attend weekly services, whereas, the muslim parents would force their children to attend seminars and teaching classes everyday, to know the quran, but the Christian aspect, we want our children back home. Among the atheist, they are majorly Christians who does not understand and were never willing to understand, the Bible said, if the foundation be destroyed, what shall the righteous do. I would just be proving points to you, and it won't make any sense to you, because you had a bad foundation. A foundation I believe God is working on, I so much believe on that, as per your questions, it still boils down to foundation. If you have been thought and you committed yourself to knowing the Bible at your tender age, you won't be swept easily with the wind of doctrine all over the place, you would stand your ground, so I think I would just back out, because if I say anything, it sure would fall on deaf ears. Here is what Paul said about Timothy 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. From a child, bye avaa: |
