In fact he was the Editor In Chief for long years. He has been erudite, brilliant and of course ageless with his writings. I was always looking forward to his writings at the law library. university of Ilorin..
His writing is always a masterpiece and am a good fan
Kindred spirits!
There we have it!

He's a University of Ilorin Alumni?
I'm just knowing this.

Oh wow!
I must have been a kid in days of yore when he wrote in the Guardian. It breaks my heart now knowing that I missed such crucial part of his writing career when it was unadulterated.

I've always sensed that there must be more to his skill than meet the eye. His writing is deep and only deep readers can draw from his depth. Oh my Reuben! Organize a writing workshop and I'll be the first to grace the seminar.

If he still writes for the Guardian newspaper, I'll love to know. Somehow, for a very long time, I haven't done prints sha.

On a jolly mood grin, I dey fine o. Stressed out a little but fine. How about you? How you dey?
I respect your love for Abati's writing but to my mind there's nothing deep, absolutely nothing deep in this write up. If you call this deep then I wonder how deep your readings are.

Lol.

Brother, cool your temper!
A little background check on me here on NL would have helped save you this misjudgment and frown lines I see on your virtual forehead.

This isn't his first work I'm coming across and if you had done your homework well, you would have noticed that on almost all of the threads created about him, I made this similar comment. He writes well and only those who appreciate good writing can attest to that. It's not up for debate as I don't know what you read yourself.

This particular write-up is simple and fraught with no problem. He's only shared a story/telephone conversation as it's obvious, he had with a friend after his last article that raised so much dust (All his writings has same effect anyway). It's easy to see. You don't need to jump into a well to check for depth or height.

So stop hating and appreciate the man's writing skill.

Oh! That works perfectly fine. I have him to look forward to whenever I see 'The Guardian'. You've been seeing him more frequently here while I only started knowing him on e-space. Times and seasons really are different for everyone cheesy

Deep thoughts! Deep, deep. And I think that's why I love writers. Good writers give readers a sense of ownership as well as discretion to understand however they choose to.
Abati is one.

I should do this. I really should. Thanks for suggesting it.

Lol. This part got me laughing. Actually, sleep does it for me. After resting through the night, I feel better this morning and ready to take on the activities of today. It's going to be a long day sha but I should be fine.

Good morning.

THERE IS A SAYING IN YORUBA, that "the person that spit saliva on the floor, and quickly rob it off with is feet, must have remember what he did with others people saliva" WHEN JONATHAN WAS LEADING THE COUNTRY THE CORE NORTHERNAS WERE CAUSING, SWEARING AND RAINING ABUSES ON HIM, NOW THERE OWN PERSON IS NOW ON THE SAME SEAT, THEY ARE SCARE TO THE MARROW, THEY ARE NOW BEGGING EVERYBODY TO PRAY FOR BUHARI! they should remember that GOD is not god of hypocrite, WHAT YOU WISH YOUR FELLOW HUMAN WILL SURELY BECOMES YOUR LOT, YOU POINTING ONE EVIL FINGER TO YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEING, THE REMAINING FOUR ARE POINTING TOWARDS YOU. They don't want buhari to die, THEY'VE WISH JONATHAN DEATH, HAD BEEN THEY GATHER TO PRAY FOR JONATHAN THE WAY THEY ARE GATHERING TO PRAY FOR BUHARI, PROBABLY NIGERIA WOULD HAVE BECOME PARADISE. beware of what you wish your fellow human being, for goes around comes around. mr Rueben when you go to church on sunday and raised your hand up in the air to praise God, don't you see an old men beside you whom are old enough to be you parents still praising God and even more aggressive than you in their supplication? They should be the ones to ask you , are you competing with them in prayer?

Nigerians do this a lot@the bolded. Once you criticise a man they shoot you with this spiteful arrow saying you hating on the man. I don't know Abati. I do not hate him. I started by respecting your love for Abati's writing and doubled up with my own impression at least on this particular article. Every writing is a well-deep or shallow. In fact words are vessels of meaning, experience and history. Ever wondered why most of the books that charmed you as a child lose their magical grip on your soul as you grow older? It's all a matter of depth. I raised no issues as regards his writing style. You were singing hymns to the depth of his writing and truly I frowned and scratched my head wondering what is deep here. There's no water to drink here, none to slake my thirst. This is my opinion.

I would have ignored this mention but I realized it will be absolutely wrong not to let you know that your last statement to me in your first mention was insulting and a slap to my face.

It just isn't about Abati as you would have quietly sang his criticism without quoting me and I would not have seen it and not bothered too except in cases where I feel I should disagree with a comment.

But when you said you wonder how deep my readings are, I began to wonder how highly you think of yourself and your reading. We are what we read. I have no clue as to what makes up your library, neither do you have any as to mine.

Every writer has his audience. Fortunately, Abati has me! cheesy There's no going back on that stand. I'm loyal like that. Next time when you are tempted to come after me like this, ask yourself, 'have I ever offered this lady one of my DEEP collections?'. Until you do, don't question what I read. Thanks.

See ehn leave those who wants to jump into water wells to measure your reading depth alone and let us organize a global prayer convention for Buhari. Fantastic ideas are already flying over themselves and each fighting to be picked on how this great event would play out. You are going to be the Supreme coordinator because I no go fit trust another person especially all those yahoo boys speaking smooth English posing as Diasporan Nigeria with the proceeds from our effort at praying for country's number 1 leader.
Atiku is going to declare the event open in London and CNN,BBC,NTA, al Jazeera, Fox ,TVC, major newspapers ,and radio stations are going to be there while you will organize all those your youths to handle the live social media posts abi naa tweets with Google AdSense or something per click so that as millions of people all over the world click to see the live videos we shall upload, Google pays us some dollars per click!
Relax, I chose Atiku because more people and the international community would see him as a central figure and influence - a cynosure of some sorts an ambitious politician like him has never experienced before. Imagine your photos going viral among 200million people globally with different languages like French,Spanish, Chinese, Arab,Kswahili, Dutch and Russian talking about you at the same time globally.... and the guy can be generous about financing such laudable image laundering projects. Maganin kudi!

haa ,I was in Chinese embassy yesterday and they have shown a great interest in this project than I even thought ........let me know if you interested in this noble adventure asap pls.

Would you want to read Dostoevsky? Or Tolstoy? (they say he is arguably the greatest novelist. Tolstoy and I are birthday mates: September 9) I'd suggest you read Anna Karenina. You can download free pdf copy of it online. Other books written by Tolstoy which I love are War and Peace(it's quite a tome, a period novel with more than 900 hundred characters, also available online. Tolstoy writes sweetly with a hard to pin lightheartedness and exuberance). Dostoevsky is the author of crime and punishment( A psychological thriller) Available online. He is the opposite of Tolstoy in that he likes to probe into the dark side of human nature. Is your plate full or you'd want some more serving? I trust I got the pass to keep on our conversation. Cheers

You got the pass!

Actually, when you mentioned Russia, my mind went to Mavrodi. With what you've just done, you've wet my appetite and I'll look for these books as soon as I submit this post. Recently, in the last two weeks I should stress, I have been reading a lot of management books by American authors. I have been combining it with 'The Richest Man in Babylon' by George Clason and so far I've enjoyed myself with the company of books.

I still have a little free time I can use for Tolstoy, I must have a feel of his work this weekend or next week at most. I see you both share the same date of birth cheesy, that's Providence at work right? I attribute it to that. Does that make you feel special sometimes? grin

Yes it does @the bolded. Okay, you doing some bit of non fictional readings. That's great. Have you read any of the chicken soup for the teenage soul series. Don't mind the teenage part oo cos they make for quite an enjoyable read.
