Yes, the tuition in Law school (and other graduate programs in the US) is too high. On average, one would spend over $135,000 in 3 years for tuition in the top law schools in my county. At Harvard, their tuition is $59,500 per year shocked

So, my mom will spend almost 80 million naira on tuition alone to study at Harvard?

Nawa oh.

There's so much that money can do.

But, there's too much money in this US though.

If you are a permanent resident you would be qualified to apply for a scholarship and/or loan.

Maybe you can try some other less expensive school

Harvard certificate is highly rated. Not just that, you are assumed to have acquired skills to be the best. You should expect rigorous screening. So if your faith can carry it, go for it. All things are possible with God.

Not many people would want to take out a $150,000 student loan anymore. With that type of loan, you will be a virtual indentured servant, who may not even be eligible t take out a mortgage.

So, studying professional courses is for the rich alone?

That's pretty high. Are there no scholarships one can access?

Scholarships are available to those who score high on the LSAT, and have good undergrad/graduate CGPAs (generally 3.0 or higher out of a mx of 4.0)

The sad part is that some of you that venture out in search of greener pasture keep comparing your new lifestyles to that of the poor in Nigeria. Let's assume that you really stepped up the game, now look back and figure out who should be comparing yourself with.
I have seen unbelievable poverty in Nigeria and US. Poverty is poverty. There is poverty among professionals and non-professionals alike. If by providence you make it, thank God for providing you with the opportunities. It has nothing to do with your invincibility. There are people who make more money than you but live far worse because they lack understanding of money management. So numbers do not mean much.

I am not trying to knock anyone down but each individual has a different definition of success. $10k a month may be big money for some whereas some folks will file for Chapter 7 on such income. Such is life.

\
I love this comment. Though I am not in support of the average living condition in Nigeria, but whether in naija or in US, people make choices and these determine the standard of living. Someone in naija can buy a 50k picture frame and another can save it as living expenses for 2 months. Key word there is financial management.

grin

Whenever your friends are hosting a birthday dinner at a restaurant, better bring your own money. No one will pay for your meal, except if it's your sibling's birthday dinner.

Even if your friend invites you to hangout at a restaurant, you will also need to bring your own money.

That's how this society works

You are very right. But note that this my church member is a 'correct' Nigerian oh, bred and buttered in Lagos. She just decided to take advantage of the 'system' in my opinion. angry

I mean, I was just ordering smoothie and snacks, left and right. I also noticed I ordered the most among all of us while we all played card games. I didn't know ignorance was worrying me. Thank God it didn't result into stories that touch.grin
