Did Azubuike start at the olympics? I didn't see much of him really. Maybe it's just because I did not watch the olympic qualifiers. Where does he play? In the Turkish 2nd tier? Icon79: |

Nigeria sef! What a useless country?! Why haven't they issued him a passport since he was shortlisted for the match? How long does it take to get a naija passport? I got mine in 3 days, if I am not mistaken. O pari terzurum5: |

Onyekuru should be in the SE. All sentiments aside. Nobody is saying he must start. And who should we drop? Let the training determine.. I believe he can battle both Musa and Simon. tbaba1234: |

Joebie: Oh yes, he was our best player actually, IMHO. In fact, I still believe that the reason why we lost to Germany was because of the silly yellow card he got in the dying minute of quarter finals game. I think that was his 3rd yellow in the tournament so he had to miss the semi finals crash with Germany. And in my opinion, that's what cost us the match. |

wow.. I have to go watch the olympic matches.. because all I was hearing was Mikel Mikel Mikel. Although Etebo impressed me the most before his injury. Icon79: |

maidaboi: Omo, believe me, the guy had started clearly - more than once - that he's happy playing for England. He "thanked Nigeria for considering him" but made it clear that he's happy playing for England. That's when I wrote him off. I used to be one of his biggest fans. O pari |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon79(m): 6:12pm On Mar 06, 2017 |
Joebie: Yeah, Etebo was massive against Japan. But in the other games, Azubuike was the dude running things in the middle. The man in the middle, that's what we nicknamed him during that tourney. In fact, based on his performance during the tournament, I rated him our best DM since Sunday Oliseh. Let's hope he could reproduce that in the Super Eagles when he's given a chance. O pari |

Icon79: Azubuike did excellently well at Rio. But, truth be told Onazi and Ndidi are ahead of him. What if Ndidi and Onazi were at Rio dnt u think they would probably had done better than Azubuike did? |

tbaba1234: Did you not watch matches of Ezekiel, Nwofor and Ujah? How have they ended up? My take is the young man is doing great at the moment. But let him continue doing great by also moving to a more competitive league and then we re-assess him. Onyekuru is young and he will surely get his turn of call up in our subsequent games if he continues doing well. |

Icon4s: I did not recommend or talk about Ezekiel, Nwofor and Ujah. When i talk about them, then you can bring them up. I was never a fan of Ujah and Nwofor. Ezekiel went to the Gulf for money. I recommended Onyekuru based on what i have seen of his present form. Not youtube clips, actual games. |

BascoVanVeli: Chikatara was reported to have been sidelined due to inability to cope with Siasia's rigorous drills. That story was posted on this forum, though the previous Super Eagles thread. |

TheGoodJoe: Taraabt is one if the most gifted players I have seen, I didn't see him at Tottenham but seen him in Fulham. Unfortunately, talent without discipline, focus and the right attitude will result in limited progression. My opinion is his attitude is totally not right, otherwise he should have been one of the top performing players in Europe. His failings at Tottenham were of his own making. Just like Adebayor attitude problem. |

tbaba1234: I can bet that if those displays by Ezekiel, Nwofor and Ujah occurred this year, u still would have been pushing for them the same way u are pushing for Onyekuru now. Nothing wrong in pushing for players or player who is in form but u need to understand that there are a lot of things to consider in players selection. It is not as easy as u guys think it is. Besides, most of these young players end up as a flash in the pan. Yes u take a gamble by inviting them but u dnt invite all at the same time. Onyekuru will get his turn if he continues doing well. |

BascoVanVeli: You really need to be specific and not general. You cannot just malign the whole club because of one player. It's from this club Wanyama, Virgil, etc moved on to bigger clubs and currently the big clubs are courting Dembele possibly one of the best young strikers in Europe. If Efe didn't get along with Brendan Rogers that's not the fault of Celtic as a club. This is just the harsh reality if football one manager likes you another doesn't. It's just how Football is. |

Icon4s: I would like to add that's it's highly unlikely not impossible if you are not playing well or cutting it in your team. You will not all of a sudden become a Maradona when you start playing for the Eagles. |

Icon4s: It's possible. But don't you think that Azubuike should be in the midst as well? I am surprised that they didn't consider inviting him to these series of friendlies, especially considering that we don't know what the form of Mikel is gonna look like in the next one year. O pari |
