How To Commence Your IT Now That Portal Is Inaccessible

By Idada Precious (Repota Atlarge)

BENIN-STUDY CENTER : The management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has improvised a method which enables students due for Industrial Training (IT) commence the training pending on when the school's new website, www.nouonline.com is fully accessible.

Recall that in the previous semesters, for one to Commence his or her IT, first, the individual must register it on the portal, printout the course registration slip, generate a Remita number, pay N1,000 into the SIWES account for logbook , pay another N400 for IT letters then staple all the necessary payment receipts coupled with the address of where the student will do the IT.

But now, due to the inaccessibility of the school website, the procedures improvised are :

1. Go to the department in charge of IT in your study center (For Benin, it's the account or counselors office), pay N200 to generate Remita number.

NOTE : Don't generate remita number BY yourself .

2. Take the Remita Number, ask for SIWES account where money for Logbooks are paid in, (PS : Last semester, logbook was free) then pay the sum of N1,000 to the account.

3. After payment, return to the the the IT department, show them the payment teller then request for your IT letter. It would be filled, stamped and given to you.

You are expected to write the address of where you intend doing your IT in a piece of paper. That is what will be used to fill your letter.

4. Go to the organization you intend doing the IT and submit the letter.

However, when the portal is finally accessible, register the IT(Course and exam), if not, you won't be graded after the IT.

Note : THIS IS THE PROCEDURE IN BENIN-STUDY CENTER. IT MAY NOT BE APPLICABLE TO OTHER CENTERS, BUT IF IT IS NOT, ENCOURAGE THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES TO ADOPT THE METHOD.
Thanks. Please i will like to know the cost of siwes registration on the portal since it is 6 credit unit because i heard they have reduce it.

How do I do my tma am a new students
Since you are a new student, please listen to this very well.

[b/]1. Tma is now different from previous semesters
2. Your no 1 question might be another's no 16. So you can't copy answers directly from your course mate.
3. Numbering of questions change with each login. Meaning, if you log in now and see your questions, when you log out and then log in, your former no 1 might now be in no 10. So be careful.[/b]

How do you now answer Tma questions.

[.b]1. Print out all your Tma.
2. Answer them on the printed Tma using your materials (hard or soft copy)
3. When answering, don't write A, or B or C. Write the answers in full. In fact, you may write short note of a question along with it's answer because sometimes there are same answers for different questions.
4. Go back to your portal and check each question with its answers (now the numbering would have been changed).
5. Chose the right option and submit. Submit might take long but keep trying. [/b]

Hello friends is it possible for NOUN to suddenly increase total credit units from the normal 38 to 40 for M. Ed science education. Total credit units for that programme as always shown on the portal is 38 units required for graduating and some of my colleagues have graduated with that number of units. I was however taken aback when recently on checking my results I saw that both my project and seminar results (6 and 2 units) are yet to reflect. But my surprise is that instead of showing deficit of 8 units for the yet to be released project and seminar I am seeing 10 units deficit - addition of two. I hope that the abnormality would be rectified, by the time I check my results again, but meanwhile is there anyone who has experienced same or has idea of how to go about this, kindly drop your comments here.

INTERVIEW : Mass-communication, Accounting, Others, Were Not Suspended - - NOUN Media and Publicity Chairman

Ibrahim Sheme is the media and publicity chairman of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). In this exclusive phone interview with Trust IMPACTTRUSTPRINTSINFO. he speaks on students' challenges and NOUN Management's efforts towards resolving them.

ITF: Sir, formerly, in the old portal, there was a provision for students to drop wrongly registered courses, but in this new portal, www.nouonline.com, it's not so. Is the management making efforts towards resolving this issue?

SHEME : Yes! But currently, study centers do not have the access to do that. The developers of the new website are at the headquarters and are making provisions for it. So, based on what they told me, in subsequent batches, dropping of courses would be possible and the link available to study centers.

ITF : Two weeks ago, a news went viral that some courses like Mass-communication, business administration, Accounting, etc have been suspended. How true is this information?

SHEME : I am not aware of that. The only course that was suspended is law.

ITF : Does that mean there's no official suspension of any course aside law?

SHEME : Yes. There's no official embargo on any other course. It's only law that was suspended because of their issue with legal Council registration. So based on my knowledge, no other course as we speak, was suspended.

ITF : What of the examination date for PEN-ON-PAPER examination this semester. Is it still going to Commence on March 20th or WILL it be post-poned because of the transition still going on, on the new website?

SHEME : Actually, I don't have information on that. What I know is that the school management is making developments in this new portal, and it has delayed some students. So, they are putting that into consideration while deciding when to begin the exam.

ITF: You said the developers of the new website undertake in resolving the challenges of most students and that the developers reside in Abuja. Is there any channel to contact them?

SHEME : For now, there's no channel. Most times they ask students to come to Abuja. But I will find out more and get back to you if any such link is created.
