Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and his Ministry of Interior counterpart, Abdulrahaman Dambazzau, are presently in South Africa to hold talks with the South African president, Jacob Zuma, following the recent xenophobic attacks that led to the loss of some businesses owned by Nigerians in South Africa.

According to a statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks with Jacob Zuma and the South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maite Nkoana Mashabane, will center on the xenophobic attacks and how possible solutions can be proferred to address the situation.

The Ministers will also meet with the Nigerian community in South Africa.

Nigeria is a weak country that doesn't value the lives of her citizens, this country needs spiritual and physical cleansing... In saner countries the primary aim of Government is the provision of welfare and protecting the lives of her citizens, but in Nigeria the primary aim of government is very vague because even now, the government has not and will not react in equal propensity to the south African aggression, we play politics with everything in this country. Hopefully someday God will give us reasonable leaders. Ameen

This is mature diplomacy displayed by Onyeama and his team, not the hyperactive glory seeking reactions of Abike Dabiri. We should learn to follow constituted authority in this country.

If Tribalism will allow us to develop Nigeria, what will a Nigerian be doing in South Africa.
Tribalism is our No.1 Problem in this country.

Have you ever stepped out of Nigeria before? Do you have any idea of what your countrymen do outside the country to make ends meet by all means?

See this guy Oh! The Foreign minister is just wasting his time, how many times has several countries sent envoys to South Africa to talk to Zuma on the Xenophobic attack in the past what did he do about it? The attacks never stops.

I know you are a tribalist as regards Abike Dabiri but her approach is the best way when she said " The attacks are unacceptable " If our government take this issue with kids glove it will continue to repeat itself year in year out.

Abike Dabiri Erewa suggested a more robust diplomatic response, but of course,I percieve that Mr Oyeama is being very relunctant and downright incompetent.
How many times does Nigeria want to send diplomatic missions to SA?,this same problem occured in 2008 and 2015,and we could only make noise and send diplomats who ended up achieving nothing.
Look at how Nigeria responded to the yellow fever deportation saga in 2014,we immediately deported over 130 South Africans for "incomplete documentation" in a reciprocal diplomatic move that quickly sent signals to Pretoria, forcing them to apologize to us very publicly. That was a strong and coherent diplomatic response.
Perhaps, when a high profile Nigerian official is murdered on the streets of Durban, then our government will learn to value an aggressive response. It is indeed a pity.

So they should be murdered in the gutters without fair trial?
If you have watched any of the videos depicting xenophobic assaults, then you'd appreciate how criminally insane some South Africans are.
I think Mexico will respond if american citizens start to pounce on mexicans accused of selling drugs in the US.I think China will respond if her citizens are murdered for bribery, theft and smuggling by a kenyan riot.Russia will surely respond if it citizens are smashed to death for cyber-crime by an european mob.
If they are guilty, try them in court and jail them like any civilized country will do,not gun them down in the gutters.
Human life is sacred, please, try not to make careless statements about such sensitive matters.

I know Geoffrey Onyeama. He's an introvert. Hope he can deliver our words to Jacob Zuma in high key?

Introvert are great people though.

Yeye ALways PAD! you behaved exactly as expected. He was there to save the asses of your drug cartel members, instead to thank him you're here posting shits. No sensible human being will ever like to associate himself with your animalistic race that thinks with their ANUS instead of brain.

Is that what this is all about, high profile? Is that why your country didn't go on a nation-wide mourning period over the Ile-Ife massacre? South Africa values the life of its citizens. We mourned the Marikana killings, mourned the people who died in that church in Nigeria & we still commemorate past events where people lost their lives. Until you learn to value the life of your fellow man, don't expect South Africa to treat you any differently. We didn't adopt you! I don't condone the xenophobic attacks, but don't be surprised when they happen again & you're given something to really mourn & talk shit about next time. Because we see how you carelessly disregard the deaths of your people, in your own backyard.
