I know most of you will say Imo state University.
Anyway IMSU can be said to be the cheapest state university in the " southern" part of Nigeria.
I emphasis on the word southern because I don't k n ow what is been charged in terms northern part.


But on the other hand when you sum up the compulsory text books you buy every semester from lecturers and the costly annual hostel fees charged by landlords,it may no longer appear cheap.

I know most Federal University pay between 30-40k every session and are not mandated to buy text books. So tuition fee wise IMSU carries it for state-owned university.

Before it used to be OAU, but I think UI as a federal still pay less tuition fee. They pay between #18,900-#25,000

as a fresher or as a returning student? to the best of my knowledge, there is No university in the North (federal ) taking more than 25k per session. there are even alot of them taking as low as 18000, 13,000. Federal University of Technology Minna, one of the leading universities in Nigeria in terms of academic quality, increased It's own fee recently from 20k to 25k.
you can't base assumptions on What you pay as a fresher, returning students are the ones to tell What the school fees looks like. and despite all these, education is still free in Nigeria. check the breakdown of your fee and you will see details of What you are charged for.
