Thought the project was slated to be completed by 2018. At least that was what he said during GEJ era. Nice development though. 2019 is still not long for a project sitting on 2000+ hectares of land. Lagos state takes it all. Am jealous. 2 Likes 1 Share |

onatisi: I hope most of them are put to shame and learn their lessons by this project of Dangote. Dangote's hands are dirty and we all know it, but he uses his dirty hands to make Nigeria better, not those filthy govt thieves who will cart away all our money to Dubai, Switzerland e.t.c to invest. 6 Likes |

Ayhomes: What is the volume of electricity to be generated by the Refinery? Will the firm be consuming the entire power generated without giving a part to the society? If no, how many MW are we expecting to be injected into the national grid by Dangote Refinery? 3 Likes 1 Share |

"The plant has an export value of $6 billion per annum, meaning Dangote’s efforts will increase the amount of foreign exchange in Nigeria’s foreign reserves by at least 40% of current value on a yearly basis" This is almost too good to be true God bless Dangote 1 Like |

Nowenuse:That is why I like atiku,he also has invested heavily in the Nigeria economy and he was even names the single individual employer of labour in Nigeria. But what actually amazes me is that with just 14 billion naira invested in this project over a period of 5 years Nigeria could have saved trillions of naira in oil subsidy payments and oil importation.so if obj had started this project then in collaboration with private investors ,it would have been completed over 10 years ago!!! 2 Likes |

Strategic, ambitious and critical to national interest and development. This is the type of project any serious minded and progressive government embarks on rather than playing foolish political/religious/ethnic games that eventually cost everyone. |

That's Olusegun Mimiko. A governor who turned a blind eye to the opportunities inherent in having the project sited in Olokola free trade zone as intended by Dangote initially. He stopped the N10 billion Naira road project former governor late Olusegun Agagu awarded to Setraco to connect the riverine areas of Ondo state, a pivotal project to the accessibility of Olokola. Fashola was smart enough to lure Dangote to Lagos. Go to Olokola today, the planned gas complex, ports and other intended industries have been stalled. The generation unborn of Ondo South will not forgive that man. Fifthcolumnist: 8 Likes 2 Shares |

datola: It's not that simple Chief. $2million per MW is about right for building single power plants. It depends on when you actually place the orders for the main equipment (the gas turbine supply market goes through it's own 'boom' and 'bust' cycle in response to demand/supply forces). I can tell you for a fact that the Obasanjo multi-turbine NIPP deal with GE was extremely good value for the country at the time of ordering. Sadly, we messed up the implementation by not having the other necessary components (eg, gas supply, site readiness/community issues) ready in time for the individual projects. With this Dangote refinery and petrochem project, the power producing unit is just a single part of the overall complex and shares many common facilities with the rest of the complex. I'm not even sure it is easy to separate its own cost this way from an accounting perspective to get the figure bandied. 5 Likes |

16.Dangote said when this project comes on line, his friend Femi Otedola will save at least N26 per litre on millions of litres of diesel and petrol which his companies import annually. This savings will be passed on to the consumers and it will take a lot of pressure off the banks Commendable project but the companies in question will simply pocket the difference. Consumers won't feel the effect of any savings unless government or competition compels them to lower their prices. 1 Like |
