@michv I agree with you. It's such a stressful and unforgettable experience. I was once refused a us visa years ago but later reapplied and got the visa and now all I do is renew whenever it expires but I can never forget the experience and stress involved so how on earth will I forget to put that in an application? Please let's do better. |

ensolo:I really do not understand your urge for studies while your wife is currently on studies.. red flag!! I rarely see SOWP rejections.... The best you could have done was to apply for GCMS to sort the delay. If your spouse is actually in Canada i doubt you would venture into applying as a student after SOWP refusals! Without a GCMS note i can tell you the likely reasons; Note that the application is basically for "WORK" and it seems you have not provided proof of current employment.... You know what that implies already. Allow me to take you through a bitter truth that.... "EMPLOYMENT" is a primary tie to home country, it is a direct proof of funding, a guarantee of employability, also a determinant to proposed program for students and as such if missing in your profile might be a lot difficult in securing the kind of application you are requesting (SOWP). Pls abandon that study permit idea effective immediately!!!!..... ask your wife to request GCMS note and kindly seek required guidance in your reapplication. Good luck Sir. 3 Likes |

For those asking about the program they should apply to. I think its best you google first. You know what you studied or good at, as such you should know what to search for. Coming here to ask for advice on what to study aint too responsible. In as much as the "gurus" here are out to help, you should atleast help yourselves first. You wear the shoes, you know where the pains are. Search for your courses based on your previous studies (and /or strength +weaknesses). Then contact the schools if you have any issues or need clarifications. My one kobo... Peace 5 Likes 1 Share |

michV:Why trouble yourself!?... If there's anyone who enters the VAC office now and still claims he/she did not see the bold notice on 'truthful declaration of visa refusals' then i give up!!!!! Before now, CIC gives 15 days window to defend your case but now it is 5 days.... that is if you don't bag the ban at an instance. It is well.... Nigeria!!!!... 1 Like |

Guys, I am Hamid by name. I applied to the University of Saskatchewan and my offer letter is here(PhD Biomedical Engineering), I await funding. Could you please let me know how long it takes for the Canadian embassy to process study permits? In addition, what documents do you think will be necessary for the application process? |

ensolo: What is your ultimate goal? Immigrate/Join your wife? Why not get your GCMS NOTES to understand the real reason for refusal. Address the concerns of the VO afterwards. Cos, from the look of things, you may be faced with the same issues (family ties) even when you apply for study visa. So I think you should thoroughly and strategically address all the concerns raised by the VO. Regards. |

johnwick2:If there are no physical and obvious changes on your face from then till now, you can. It is only used to identify your documents and match your biometric photo. The biometric photo is your main identifier. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by yemdogg: 5:57pm On Mar 17, 2017 |
Folaroyal: To even make matter worse, the VO may be inclined to think that it won't make any sense for an employer to give you a leave of absence for no cogent reason...The op in question is not pursuing an academic or professional program that would invariably make him an asset to his employer..so why would any employer give a leave of absence. so in the scenario, it may be interpreted that his job/employment might be terminated soon enough. His best bet...is to consolidate his family, socio-economic and financial ties to Nigeria. Like you rightly suggested, Study Visa won't savage his situation. 1 Like |

Ejaloni123:Congratulation on your offer. Firstly, if you intend to use the school funding as evidence of available funds, you will have to wait for it before you can ascertain if it will be sufficient or not. The proceesing time for a canadian study permit for nigerian applicants as of today is 17 weeks. However, this is just a window period, it could be less or more. Aside sufficient funds, you will have to show strong hometie(s) in nigeria(family, business, employment, assets, etc) that will propel you to return upon completion of your program. I believe with a PhD admission, your previous activities would have been in your intended field. Officers MAY also want to know what your PLAN with a PhD degree would be, so you should consider writting a brief one page statement of purpose to elaborate on this. 1 Like |

Evening here. Had a Third Class in Applied Geophysics. Worked in a GIS firm for a couple of years, though in a lesser role, and currently out of work for over 18 months except if online hustling counts as work. What is the best route for studies in Canada, preferably a course in GIS and Remote sensing? Let me am self-sponsoring. |

Hello house, my question is this: I'm a little confused about scholarship availability for MSc in Canada, I noticed they just state vaguely that applications before a certain date are considered for scholarships without stating specifically what scholarships are available and their worth (at least that's the case for the school I applied to, carleton university to be specific) so I need to know what exactly the chances are of getting a scholarship or ease of getting job to support. I have some money, say up to 50% what I'll need for the whole program which I won't mind spending if there is scholarship to support or guarantee of getting a job to support me so I don't squander my money and get stranded. I really need specific/first hand advice cos ppl just say go to Canada like the jobs are even begging ppl there but I need to be sure before I dabble into it . I have cgpa of 4.15/5 in bachelors, 2 years engineering working experience here in Nigeria, and not married. Tho I am also considering express entry but I really don't know which would be better for me, my end purpose is immigration. Cc justwise please help and other gurus in the house |

cheapphones: Check the program and grad school website and or handbook for "funding and scholarship". Those are where most information about it are located. 1 Like |

Osemigho:I already did that but there seems to be not much information available about ones chances of being selected, that's why I need someone that has been through this before to tell me, or even the RA positions, or what can one do to boost his chances of getting any of these. |

Austinpee4: Many thanks for your swift reply. I think aside the funding I am expecting which will be more than enough, I have got no job........From bachelors to PhD.... I will be able to show proof of landed properties of my retired parents. However, I don not know if this will be convincing enough to make the VO believe I will be coming back? It all depends on how I present my case. |
