Hello nairalanders Happy Sunday to you all, Please I need your assistance on the very best step to follow, 1stly,i am a petroleum engineer graduated with 2.2 in 2014,due to the wait in nysc I did my nysc in 2016, finished my nysc last year 2016 November. Now,since January dis year, I have been preparing my migration for my master course in Australia I have spent my time making research and gathering important information, I have already started the process, even written the English exam pte, now to visit my school to collect my certificate before my Dad who is supposed to be my sponsor changed mind because my Aunty who resides in America advised me to choose Canada because iys Closer to America , Now, I am like starting afresh and with some information I got attactracted with prior to migrating to Australia, I do not know if such opportunities are in Canada too, E. G, 1. I know that the 20hourswork/week is also applicable in Canada but I don't know the job luxurity 2.. Australia gives 2 years work permit after study like the masters I am planning, but I do not know if it's applicable in Canada too 3.... As I had my 1st degree in Petroleum engineering, what's DE best lucrative master degree to pursue in Canada that will give me more opportunity for permanent residence. 4... How is the masters admission process, and I hope it is not difficult to obtain, 5...,is there any benefit, I can obtain based on my Aunty who is in America with regards to my application. Please every experienced person here, please I beg u to contribute in anyway I know I am supposed to search all the post but,the posts are much and I have exhausted all my research in the Australian posts Please and please clear a brothers mind, in any which way, let me continue with my pursuit Thank you |

Bostin:If by "ESL" you mean the English as a second language program then be rest assured you are VOLUNTARILY going to dash your money for application fees to CIC to use and buy more papers and ink for thier office. English is the OFFICIAL language in nigeria and also included as a compulsory subject/course in the 6-3-3-4 educational system of nigeria. So depending on your academic level, you are assumed to have learned the english language in nigeria or if english is what you really want to learn, there are plenty TOEFL/IELTS centers to enrol for that. The VO will point to you doing it here in nigeria. So my bro/sis, save your money and forget that ESL program in canada. 99.9% percent your application will be refused for purpose of visit. 2 Likes |

Austinpee4:Thanks for the clearification. I really want to study non-degree wielding and fabricator after the ESL,do you think I can be given study permit for this program? |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Austinpee4: 5:17pm On Mar 26, 2017 |
Bostin:Like i just mentioned, your chances of getting a study permit with ESL or the wielding/fabricator program is almost zero. All these non degree programs can be gotten in nigeria. A visa officer will want to know why you will spend so much to pay for your flight ticket, program fees and accomodation just to get something that you can as well do in nigeria for less.I don't think you will sufficiently prove that to them. So develop yourself more in nigeria(go for more trainings, enroll in some professional courses) and then after that, you can go for a program that will be worth the expenses in canada. A degree or higher. 2 Likes |

My brother may God bless you. To start with, I know now my 1st step is looking up for schools in Calgary province, I hope to start my application soon, because wasting time is not encouraging rather causing more depression and frustration. So, let me begin with school scout, Incase of any advise about choosing a friendly school for MEng, I would appreciate Thanks once again |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by penitential(m): 6:58pm On Mar 26, 2017 |
Lemme still say this, please don't stick to to schools in calgary alone. Even if you school in Ontario, saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova scotia,....you can choose to relocate to Calgary for employment and settlement ( if you don't use calgary nomination point; which i think you won't need when applying for PR) So you don't have to bother much about the school search. You can school in any province and relocate to calgary after your program. Doodoo10: |

Well, am. Kinda of finding it difficult, getting a. School that will accept my cpga of 2.8/5.0 because most of the schools I checked already requires 3.0/5.0... I never knew it will be an issue with Canada, because I have already found upto 3 schools to apply to before the change of plans for Canada... So, I Need advise, I will be appreciative no matter how hard it is.. I just want the plain truth, them I will proceed with my options, so far as I know the best advise Thanks all |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Eraytee: 9:09pm On Mar 26, 2017 |
Doodoo10: Ur grade in UG (2-2). Canada requires 2.1 for masters wch is very competitive, with ur grade am not ruling u out wch is solely base on ur 2.2 cgpa. That's your challenge for now. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Nobody: 6:33am On Mar 27, 2017 |
Doodoo10:Reasons that you may want to do another UG program may include.... Change of career, probably earned a 3rd class.... You just completed a college diploma/advanced diploma/secondary school.... !!! I am not convinced that you fall into any of the classes mentioned above!! Cases whereby you plan to study a related program but in other disciplines with claims of diversified opportunities..... will mostly be achieved at masters level! (Not on a 4 year program... Haba) So.. Pls pls pls readjust your plans in line with progression and not just picking any program at any level.... It may hurt! My advise: if i were you, I'll look again into @penitential comments and take a shot on that. penitential: Well, if you can get PGD in your proposed course, it will be better. Good luck. |
