Just read some reviews on the Mi5. I love my expandable memory slot.... . It's a good device also (they all look similar). But umi z pro got my heart at the moment..... .

It's still dead. Hopefully seller would profer a solution and offer alternative or refund.
Regardless of this glitch, the 20 minutes or so I spent with the device. I want it to continue for at least a year. A replacement device, is what I want. The device feels and looks like a $800 device.

Just spent the past hour reading through UMIDIZI community forum. It seems the Umi brand is notorious for failing devices, rather than fix issues, they simply launch another product.
I hate to say this, but my love for this Umi z pro is gradually fading.
Might have to settle for the Oneplus 3T or await the Oneplus 5.......
Lets see the resolution umi offers.........

The MSRP is $299. They really pulled the hardware off. It's really a looker and fun to hold, shame about the software .... .. .

Sure it is.

A device with a Snapdragon 820 SoC is definitely better than one with Mediatek x27 chipset.

Other extras on the Mi5 you won't find on the umidi Z pro include NFC and IR blaster.

I'm sure there are others I might not remember right now.

Then check out a smartphone survey done by Antutu. While Mi5 showed up on No.11. Umidi Z pro ain't​ anywhere close.

My guy forget dos people... Dey just be like all those slay queens on Social media... Dey get fine body but no brain.. .... Umi get design bt no software.. I tire for them.. ... Am expecting my leeco le max 2..

I am also fairly heavy user. If the umi serves me just one year, it would be a good result....... Alternatively, might just wait for the OnePlus 5...

Have you try to reset the phone by pressing power and volume key? Do that and let see if it will come on. Eventually it comes on, try to install whatsapp again. But do not void any warranty while doing so. I await a good news from you.

Logged my complain on the umi community blog. Below is a reply from another purchaser -:

Same here. Got the phone yesterday with 19% charge. I charged it until it was 85% and then started setting up my accounts and apps. During this it rebooted once. When it reached around 65% charge it just went dead. No warning, no lights, nu stutter. Just gone!

Charged it all night and still charging now (been 12 hours on charger now) but nothing happens.. just a faint red led light going on and off.

Tried hard reset, no response. Connecting to pc, no response.

Done all that yesterday, no luck. Umi did not test this phones prior to resuming sales .........
