On Ademola Lookman, he has not faded oooo.... he is still in the picture.... lad is still young naa and is being introduced gradually at Everton... Koeman and Everton believe in youngsters...I believe Lookman will get his big break, bigger than his debut... but for now, they are just taking it easy with the boy... smiley

But I get your point shaa....

That is also my point. lets allow some of these young players develop. Except those ones we fear we may lose to other countries if not capped early.

Between Iwobi and Sone, who would you love to play against Cameroun

Aluko all day.

Iwobi is a class act but he has long way to go before he can be called world class. He may our brightest prospect but that doesnt put him on par with Mbappe, Dembele at B. Dortmund. For all these players there is still a long way to go.

I agree with you. But can you suggest one number 9 for us?

If Anichebe get a run of games and shows his class then he is in and the big ask, if he can stay injury free

the 9 I have in mind is Tammy...but I am not sure if we gonna get him easily...
so let's make use of kayode for the Cameroon tie. the guy has stamina and physique...
he can live up some of our expectations
still believe iwobi can play the physical taste of Africa football should he be deploy to the middle not the flanks...he should play as 10 definitely as sub
the guy good at giving some dangerous passea

I have known Tega for quite some time time he has done exceptionally well in the championship. But he isn't physically imposing like Anichebe.

Did they not win games to secure qualification to the Euros and did dey nt prove their top 10 ranking by finishing in top 4 in the Euros?

You still have to win matches to climb up the FIFA ranking.

You can believe whatever you want.
Take a look at this, if you like.

I know.

But the issue is getting them to train with us or fielding them in a friendly does not still secure them as ours. It has to be full international matches.

Looking at our WC qualifying group no easy game. I still believe we may still need to fight till almost the end of our qualifiers. Bc Algeria may beat Zambia home and away and we may drop points against Cameroun and Algeria is back in contention.

The only game i would personally be annoyed with Rohr if he does nt field an almost completely new squad is Nigeria vs Seychelles AFCON qualifying match. I.e if we do not put ourselves in a difficult situation before that game.

In that Seychelles game, he can even invite Alampasu, Nwokolo and Daniel as the three goalies and any one of them can keep goal. I dnt mind. We'll use that game to cap all those our illusive English born players and let me see which mouth the English FA go get again.

Again i say ie if we dnt find ourselves in a difficult situation leading to the Nigeria vs Seychelles game.

However, also, we may jst introduce 1 or 2 of them per game. Gradually like that.

Kog45, you just took me back memory lane with that mention of Seoul '88 team. A team that had players like: Chidi Nwanu, Austin Eguavoen, Silvanus Okpala, Ademola Adeshina, Emeka Ezeugo, Samuel Okwaraji, Osaro Obobaifo, Dominic Iorfa, Andrew Uweh, Samson Siasia, Rashidi Yekini among others. And got trashed by Brazil, Yugoslavia and Australia. What really went wrong I cant fathom till date.

In ur opinion what really went wrong with that stars studded team?
Yea good team just like Chile 87 but a lot went wronged before d tournament,if u remember serious crisis between d coach and some players in d team.

Exclusive + Picture: Torino Running The Rule On Nigerian Duo Okwara & Nwafor

Serie A side Torino are presently running the rule on two talented Nigerian teen spotted by scouts of the team during the recently concluded Viareggio Tournament in Italy.

The duo of Ikechukwu Nwafor and Charles Okwara were spotted by scouts of the club while turning out for their Nigerian side Garden City Panthers of Port Hacourt.

Already they have started training with the Primavera side of the Serie A side, that presently has former Super Eagles ace Joel Obi on their books.

They are both offensive midfielders with lots of potentials, especially when it comes to making use of the ball and covering grounds.

Torino will offer the duo professional contracts, if they impressed the handlers of the team during a trial that is suppose to last at least one month.

And man city will probably still qualify for champions league through play off this season, lost out to Monaco in the quarter finals, Aguero more work rate, less goals I don't see that as an improvement for a striker. Sterling has improved from last season?... I guess only you can see that. Iheanacho who was highly rated last season has now been rendered so useless he can't even make a match day squad. He sent Joe Hart packing, bought Bravo because he has this "brilliant" idea of a goal keeper... Can you count the number of goals city has conceded this season through goal keeper error?.
I don't see the point in holding the ball brilliantly if you can't win games. Any idiot can hold the ball.. Win the damn game!!
Pellegrini finished fourth, Guardiola will finish fourth... I don't see any improvement in that.
Conte is improving Chelsea and getting results at the same time... That's brilliance.

If you can not see improvement in Sterling, then how can you see other things. See a tweet by the former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.

Sunday Oliseh ✔@SundayOOliseh
Is this the same Raheem Sterling or a Clone? lol. What a complete metamorphosis.Superb technique,Vision & joy to watch.Infectious. Bravo!

Guardiola already said it will take time for his system to bear fruits. If anyone studies closely, the improvement is tremendous.

Navas played well against Chelsea and Arsenal. Meanwhile, he was not a regular, does that mean he was rendered useless? Delph has not played for a long time but was brilliant against Chelsea, does that mean he was useless.

Maybe some people expect money to buy immediate success, what I expected was not immediate success. As the team keeps understanding the game, we will keep improving.

But guys, we are making one wrong assumption about this Cameroun game. That the only way to beat them is to field physical players.

In the defense yes. But in the forwards position we need players who are intelligent, skillful and can read the game well. We need Mikel in that AM position.

And Iwobi and Victor Moses are my first choice wingers. If these 3 players switch-on on match day there is no way Iheanacho would not have a good game and Cameroun fit chop up to 3-0 in Uyo.

spare me that please.. Pep is performing below average considering the fact how much he was giving for transfer markets..he has gotten all he asked for financially.. Tell me one reason he should go trophy less considering the amount of resources at his disposal..not only is he going trophy less, he is also on the verge of loosing out on the champions league spot..
And you call that development.. undecided
And what will you call jurgen klopps handwork on Liverpool? Or leicesters resurgence?
With low budget, they still get their team up front..that's what I call development..

The thing is GUARDIOLA is still driven by the euphoria he is still in the laliga or bundesliga where he has little or no competition.. The sooner he learns he is in EPL where no one cares whose ox is gored..the better for him cool

So what about in the Champions League when Guardiola thrashed teams like Bayern Munich coached by Jurgen Klinsmann. Beat Mourinho with a tough Inter Milan twice in one season. Beat and outplayed Alex Ferguson in Two Champions League finals. Was Guardiola in the Euphoria of the La Liga? Na wa.

Rohr Reveals Plans For China Based Eagles Stars For AFCON & World Cup Qualifiers

The plans to keep Super Eagles players plying their trade in China fit for Nigeria’s next competitive game against South Africa in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers has been revealed by coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

There has been doubts surrounding the future of the trio of captain John Obi Mikel, Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye who all moved to China but Rohr was quick in dispelling such thoughts when it cropped up months ago.

Rohr left them out of the Eagles last friendly game against Senegal as they were still settling at their base in China, but the coach has now hinted on how he plans to integrate them into his squad for the South Africa game, which comes up on June 10.

”They (players) need to work hard, we have two and a half weeks to prepare for South Africa after which we will play another friendly game to accommodate some other players, who will be ending their season in June, especially the players playing in China.

”It’s not going to be easy for them to come from China on June 5, there is going to be a lot of difference and a bit difficult, but we have a good programme to prepare everybody for that important South Africa, and the next World Cup qualifier against Cameroon”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent Osas Mahawi.

Rohr Outlines Steps Eagles Will Use To Prepare For South Africa Tie In June – We Are Meeting Them In Eight Weeks

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has commenced preparations in earnest ahead of their AFCON 2019 qualifiers tie against South Africa in June.

Rohr outlined his preparations plans for the tie in an interview conducted at the Agege Stadium, where he visited to watch a Nigeria National League game between AS Racine and Warri Wolves.

”We are meeting them in just eight weeks, so we don’t have much time. We must prepare very well for that match and we have already set out a training scheme to prepare the team.

”Some of the players will finish their league season at the beginning of May, some middle of May and we cannot allow them to go for holiday for three weeks and later ask them to come to camp ahead of the game against South Africa.

”We have a programme to work together as a team. We have arranged for camping in France and we have been invited for some friendly ganes, although it’s not FIFA window. We have some young players who we need to look at and also some of them that have finished their season in Europe”.

Michael Essien convinced ex-Nigerian star Odemwingie over Indonesia move

Former Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie says Michael Essien convinced him to sign for Indonesia side Madura United.

The 35-year-old, who represented the Super Eagles at the 2010 and 2014 World Cup tournaments, has signed a one-year deal with the option of an extension.

"I had no plans to join any team in Europe. To be honest before I came here, I heard Michael Essien had been here first," he said

"I then communicated via messages with him when he was in London.

"And he (Essien) told me he was impressed with the charm of Indonesia. He said Indonesia people are very friendly and he was eager to return. So yes, that's the story, he convinced me to come here."

The ex-WBA and Stoke man last played for Rotherham but left in January.

I remembered that game against Brazil it was 0-0 at HT and we were the better side. That was the only good 45 mins that team had through out the tourney. They even lost 3-1 and 2-0 to Yugoslavia and Australia respectively. A team that paraded Raheed Yekini, Samson Siasia, Samuel Okwaraji, Andrew Uweh, Silvanus Okpala, Osaro Obobaifo, Austin Eguavoen, Ademola Adeshina, Chidi Nwanu, Emeka Ezeugo, Austine Eguavoen. I gave you examples and all you can say is drills my foot. I repeat. Delph was brilliant against Chelsea, one of the best I have ever seen him play. When Guardiola arrived, he first gave Delph defensive drills and made him train with the defenders. Some sports writers thought Guardiola was converting him to a defender.

Months later, we have a brilliant deep lying playmaker. Does this look like Drills my foot to you?

Troost-Ekong Watches On As Ibrahim Shuaibu Fires Match Winning Brace For Haugesund

Former Giwa FC of Jos striker Ibrahim Shuaibu scored twice to hand FK Haugesund a 4-3 win over Vaalerenga in a top division league game in Norway.

Shuaibu grabbed his brace in the 36th and 47th minute in the seven goal thriller which was decided at the Haugesund Stadion, and in the process help them to their first win of the two game old season in Norway.

The game was closely watched by Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong who spent 18 months at loan with the club, before returning back to his parent owners Gent in January.

Ekong posted pictures of himself getting ready to watch the games with full excitement for the team he captained for a season during his loan spell in Norway.
