Good day house, I applied for MEng electrical and computer engineering at university of Alberta for September this year. I submitted my application since Dec 14 2016, and I haven't gotten back from them. All it says on my portal is application under review. Please does the process usually take this long? And is there anyone here who has been admitted for that course? Thank you all. |

maestro09: I think it takes approximately 4 months for a decision to be made in UofA. I applied last year (M.Eng Control Systems ECE) 19th May 2016 and a decision was made on my application 20th of September 2016. So I will say you would hear from them this month. Meanwhile, A friend got his admission offer today, M.Eng Chemical Engineering from UofA. He applied Dec 2016. So just be patient. 1 Like |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Austinpee4: 7:35pm On Apr 07, 2017 |
yemdogg: Osemigho: It's quite understandable the main point these two posts is addressing, avoiding a 5 years ban. Withdrawing that application now MAY or MAY NOT be feasible depending on when he submitted the application. If it's in the last days, COULD be possible. Background checks would most certainly be one of the first things to be concluded in an application once it enters the embassy. Most importantly and a very vital point to note is that once an application is entered into CIC database, it will remain there for as long as their immigration system exist and any other information not consistent with previous application and not PROPERLY explained will still violate provisions of IRCC act by "withholding material facts relating to a relevant matter that induces or could induce an error in the administration of Canada’s immigration laws". Even if a new application makes corrections, the first application motive tried to induce chances. Also, once Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada makes an allegation or an applicant makes delibrate declaration of misrepresentation in already submitted application, it is insufficient for the applicant to simply withdraw the application As the Federal Court of canada noted in Zhang v. Canada, 2015 FC 463, “such an approach would encourage claimants to misrepresent material information in the expectation their visa applications could simply be withdrawn if the deceit was later uncovered.” Consequently, for IRCC to make a misrepresentation finding, it is necessary that the misrepresentation actually have had the possibility to cause an officer to reach an erroneous decision, and induce an error in the administration of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. The fact is ANY system of immigration control relies heavily on the truthfulness of those who apply to go to such countries. Those who misrepresent their histories or withhold material information with a view to enhancing their chances for entry do so at his/her risk. The integrity of Canada’s control over its borders demands nothing less than scrupulous honesty from applicants and the rigid enforcement of that obligation. The Officer’s decision fulfills this principle and is in all respect reasonable in the administration of the IRP acts because questions are CLEARLY and SPECIFICALLY asked. I doubt CIC will oblige to such withdrawal or mis-representation claims after submission without administering their discretion or atleast making applicant know an offence has been commited. This is to prevent future occurance. In all though, it's up to the moniker in the situation to decide on what to do. |

so I heard people still get a denial after being asked to go and do their medicals...how true is that?...isn't that wickedness.why ask people to waste their money on medicals when u already know u ain't gonna grant them d visa at d end of the day...or is it that they are partnering with those clinics just to exploit Nigerians and make money from it cos I really don't understand |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by kalohenic: 8:25pm On Apr 07, 2017 |
cabalocracy: In my opinion, every request by CIC serve specific purpose. If your application has been reviewed and deemed OK, next would be for you to take the medical test if it apply to you. Call for medicals is not a guarantee, as the result of the medical examination would determine if you are fit health-wise to be admitted into Canada. If the applicant has a medical condition that pose danger to the Canadian residence or the condition would require recurrent medical attention which could affect your studies, that makes it difficult for them to grant the study permit. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by wealth360: 8:51pm On Apr 07, 2017 |
Piethewitch: The Most time I have seen denial here after medical passed was always Upfront medical. But to my understanding people, when u are called for medical both paper and online then it means all ur docs are satisfactory and when u now go for medicals and passed it. The chance of getting trv is 95%. 7 Likes |

Good evening everyone, I have been a silent follower on this thread, wishing that one day I will be opportuned to write here. I have an offer to study pre nursing at the Brandon University comes this September. My first degree is Education Chemistry but my result was not that wonderful, I had 2.2 but with 2.6 cgp, it was the school that advised me, instead of my application fee to waste that I should chose an undergraduate course of my choice. I want to start my visa application but my question is, how do I convince them, knowing that my first degree and this nursing did not relate? Can you guys I mean the guru's to help and guide me on how to package this. Also, my sponsor will be my brother. Thanking you all |
