Hello fellow nairalanders,
I just got admission at Conestoga College to study Enhanced Nursing practice - Clinical and Critical Care. I have Bsc Nursing and PDG in Education. I do not base in Nigeria presently.
My questions are:
1. Can I apply for study permit in the country where I presently base, or I should come down to Nigeria to apply?
2. How can I write a strong SOP to convince the VO, especially on the issue of strong ties?
3. Do you think Masters in Nursing admission will be better than this PDG? I also applied for Msc Nursing in a Canadian University, awaiting their decision.
I'm looking forward to answers to my questions. Thank you.

1. If you are LEGALLY resident in the country you are aside being on a visitor's visa and your resident duration will not expire before the processing time as indicated by the visa office there, you can apply from there.

2.Writting a SOP to convince a VO is nothing as compared to when you show evidence of the tie(s) you have to home country. So if you have family, assets, investments, business, etc, Do well to show proof in you application. These are the strongest ties you can possibly have.

3.It will not just be better, It will be BEST!. If you consider using the PGD, alot of factors will be considered and will be raised by your intentions and your profile. I.e your years of experience, when you finished undergrad, etc. You'll have to satisfactorily make these add up and show that a PGD is right for you at this time.

I'll advise you wait for the master decision, if it's positive, use it. Your chances will be higher.

Hello house! pls a response will be much appreciated.
I have gotten admission to study a 2 year college diploma in Heating, ventilation and Air cond. (HVAC) at Holland college, Prince Edward Island for the 2017 fall session. Although i have hitherto obtained a Bsc. in Building Unilag. I graduated January, 2017. I did courses related to HVAC during my undergrad such as; Air conditioning, Fluid mechanics, Advanced Air cond., Energy utilization in Buildings, Thermal environment & Electrical services in buildings. I also did my I.T with Cappa & D'alberto and got involved in a central cooling project -VAV ( Variable Air volume) for GTbank at Ikoyi, meaning i have related work experience as well. I have constructed my SOP very well, clearly stating all this as well as attaching all evidences. My sponsor is my Dad. I plan on applying through the Online route. Are there any other things i should look out for?

Thumbs up to all doing a great job on this thread. Pls help me out here. On the visa Instructions for Lagos office, we are told that we shouldn't go for medicals till we are asked to go. However, am seeing lots of people and nairalanders going for upfront medicals. Please is this a new rule? Koz I intend going for medicals upfront.

No its not a new rule its up to you to go for medical before submitting your application or going for medical after receiving an email from CIC. The reason to why they say until they call you because you might go for medical and then not get the visa

Cool. I believe you will get the admission. The secret with UNB is applying early because admission is considered on a rolling basis. It means you have a better chance when application is sent in early. Good luck bro.

Hello, Is it always necessary to write a SOP. I noticed a lot of the questions in the Study Permit Questionnaire are what you should typically address in a SOP like Why did you select your proposed program? b) How did you find out about it? 5) How does your selected program differ from similar programs available in Nigeria? 7) Please explain any gaps in your academic history to date.
