These pix i am seeing are really those of U15 players. Musa Yahaya did not even look this young when he played U17 as a 15yr old.

Well done NPFL.

This is the way forward... Really impressed with this idea.. All clubs should have feeder teams, that is the only way to improve the credibility and quality of the league.

And also provide us with quality junior national team players.

There is also an U15 national inter secondary schools competition involving over 100 schools. I heard about it on brila fm but no date was stated.

Our Class of 2019 Eaglets will definitely emerge from these two tourneys

I watched a championship like this some years ago sponsored by airtel, which was actually live of TV. The LMC needs to secure title sponsorship for this tournament, although I thought the La Liga was involved with the sponsorship of this championship.

I used my money to feed Rangers’ players – Amapakabo

By Ifreke Inyang on April 12, 2017

Daily Post Nigeria | 2017-04-12 08:44:03

Imama Amapakabo, who was sacked as head coach of Enugu Rangers this week, has said poverty is ruining the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions.

Amapakabo led the Flying Antelopes to their first title in 32 years, before he was fired on Monday, following a 2-2 draw with Zesco United of Zambia in the CAF Confederations Cup.

But in a radio interview monitored by Vanguard in Abuja on Tuesday, Amapakabo said he was not angry because posterity will surely vindicate him.

“There are too many things that happened which many people don’t know about. For me I have taken everything in good fate, in fact it is a thing of joy for me.

“As far as I am concerned, I accomplished my dream in Rangers because I gave them what they never had for over 30 years.

“The issue of failure is not for me to explain but the management. There are people in the team that don’t have focus and if they fail to correct those anomalies, I don’t see them achieving anything.

“Let me tell you that as we speak Rangers have not cleared any player and I challenge the management of the team to publish my contract and to contradict any of my claims here. Things are so bad in Rangers that at times I had to use my money to feed the players. There is poverty in Rangers and it is ruining the Club.”

Rangers are currently bottom of the NPFL table.

bro...I remember during it's launch in early 2000 then Chief Obaseki was the league chairman... the league was a delight to me...I follow up the league...every week..watch the matches on local TV then..
to be true...the home team manipulations and officiating was something that made the league an eyesore
I still remember in one of kano pillars match I watched... a spectator jumped into the field and slapped the referee...asking him to award a penalty... pillars were on d verge of loosing that match...
the referee for fear of his life..awarded a penalty... and they equalize

These useless owngoal journos (and I am using that term charitably) should STFU!

Not every "good" player should be a Super Eagles player. Did they even consider the players Esiti is competing with: Ndidi, Etebo, Onazi, Mikel, Ogu, Iwobi, etc. etc.

For a player to continue making the team of the week, shows that he is doing well for his Club and so derserve to be in the national team.

However, looking at the options we have in his position, he may not be considered at the moment.

Its just peanuts wat they give us. I try to watch Africa Sport On and Naija Made for highlights but then they only show a few. It is really poor how they cover our league. U watch a match and everything is so basic, u can't even tell wat they will show because the promotion is garbage. I have asked why NTA does not show the local teams in each area, at least people will be able to keep up with their local team.

Dstv and supersport are just playing with us and I can't blame them.. Ghana were smart enough to sign a new TV deal with startimes and they didn't regret it.
The LMC should end their partnership with supersport and try startimes or even consat.

Without a decent TV deal,we can't expect the league to move forward

Desailly: Moses, Kante, Alonso Key To Chelsea Success

By James Agberebi:

France and Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly believes the addition of Nigeria winger Victor Moses, N'Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso improved the Blues tactically this season, Comple tesportsnigeria.com reports.

Antonio Conte's side currently sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, with Tottenham their nearest challengers heading into the final seven games of the campaign.

Desailly who spent six seasons at Stamford Bridge between 1998 and 2004, posited that the inclusion of Moses, Kante and Alonso played a big part in Chelsea's outstanding performance this term.

"I'm very pleased with Chelsea," Desailly said live on Sky Sports News HQ.

"When you look at last season where it was very difficult with Jose Mourinho in charge, a whole lot of controversy and the tactics were not working, this year you change it and have three new players: (N'Golo) Kante, (Marcus) Alonso and (Victor) Moses and you just change a little bit of the tactics, it's just an amazing season for Chelsea."

Ahead of this weekend's clash between Chelsea and Manchester United at Old Trafford, the 1998 FIFA World Cup and 2000 European Championship winner expressed confidence that his former team will see out the season on a positive note.

"We'll see them (Chelsea) in the Champions League again, it's just that they have to finish correctly," he added. "The FA Cup is there against Tottenham, there are many major important games such as Manchester United this weekend, so you have to be careful.

"These two weeks are the key moments and games for Chelsea but they will make it. There's no reason why the players should shake in front of these various events."

Gent Want €20m For Moses Simon, West Brom Interested

By Johnny Edward:

Belgian club Gent have placed a €20m price tag on their Nigerian winger Moses Simon to ward off potential suitors from the English Premier League, according to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad.

West Bromwich Albion are reportedly plotting a summer move for the former AS Trencin star after he was scouted by the club's technical director Nick Hammond while on duty for the Super Eagles in an international friendly against Senegal at Barnet’s Hive Stadium last in March. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Moses has two years left on his current deal and his agent Tony Harris has also hinted that his player would welcome a move to the English Premiership if a concrete offer is made, Het Nieuwsblad reports.

"Our options are open, we will wait and see," Harris said of the reports linking Moses away from Gent in a chat with Het Nieuwsblad.

Moses fired a brace for Gent in their opening Belgian promotion play-off win over Club Brugges.
He has scored five goals in 25 appearances for the Buffaloes this term.

Ex-Man United Star: New Arsenal Manager Would Make Iwobi Fantastic

By James Agberebi:

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker says Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi will become a better player if he gets to play under a new manager at Arsenal.

Iwobi has struggled to replicate the form that saw him break into the Arsenal first team last season under Arsene Wenger.

This season he has made 24 league appearances, scoring three goals.

On Monday, Iwobi was not in the Arsenal first team that lost 3-0 away to Crystal Palace in the Premier League as he featured for the Gunners U-23s that defeated Reading 5-2.

Parker who played under Sir Alex Ferguson and won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup, told Eurosport: "Someone could make Iwobi into a fantastic player, but he needs a manager to help him improve.

"There’s plenty of time for him, but I’m just not convinced Wenger is the man to make him better."

Wenger, who has been Arsenal manager since 1997, is currently under intense pressure to quit following poor results.

In an exclusive chat with Owngoalnigeria.com Majdob who says he has long been a fan of Nigerian football and players says he presently has four Nigerian players lined up for transfers in the summer.

” I am motivated to push for more players from Nigeria, Maxwell Alozie rose from the juniors to the main team of Bnei Sakhnin in few months , what most players need years to do. His rise has motivated me to search for more players from Nigeria”, Madjob told Owngoalnigeria.com.

La-Liga Nigerian Bad Boy Uche Agbo Becomes Watford’s First Addition Ahead Next Season

Owngoalnigeria.com can authoritatively reveal that Uche Agbo will be returning to English Premier League side Watford at the end of the season when his loan deal expires with Spanish La-Liga side Granada.

The Nigeria international was signed by the Premier League giants in the summer but immediately loaned back to the Granada as exclusively revealed by Owngoalnigeria.com last year.

Agbo has been one of the few bright sparks in a Granada team that is presently battling to stay in the La-Liga , and his impressive performances although blotted with 12 yellow cards and two red cards have impressed the decision makers of his parent owners.

He will be one of the fresh faces in the team when pre season commences later in the year ahead of the start of the 2017/2018 season in England.

Agbo will however need to be issued a work permit by the home office before he can play in competitive games for the Vicarage Road outfit.

There is however a glimmer of hope that he would be granted Spanish citizenship which will cushion the fear of not being eligible to play in the English Premier League according to a source who spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com on the condition of anonymity.

Exclusive – FIFA Wreck Athletico Madrid Plans For Kano Pillars 16 Year Old Wonderboy Nazifi Yahaya

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid won’t be pushing to sign Kano Pillars forward Nazifi Yahaya according to one of the player’s representative despite their inquiry for his services last month.

Yahaya won the heart of Athletico Madrid scout at the recently concluded Guateng Future Championship in South Africa, where he emerged as top scorer despite Nigeria losing in the final game of the tournament to the Spanish side.

They dropped their interest in the 16 year old after their failure to overturn the suspension on them by FIFA, which bars them from signing players for the next transfer window.

” They ( Atletico Madrid) were hoping the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will overturn the ban but that didn’t work as it was upheld. So as it stands now they can’t sign Yahaya even though they registered their interest in him during the Youth Championship in South Africa”, Yahaya’s intermediary told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” There are other teams interested in Yahaya, but remember he is just 16 so an agreement can only be reached before he turn 18, the right professional age. He has done himself a whole lot of good, hopefully he will get rewarded with a big move soon”.

Exclusive: Man Utd , Crystal Palace, Newcastle Scouted Nigeria Stars Ndidi, Etebo, Moses In London

A couple of Super Eagles stars may move to the glamorous English Premier League in the near future as a number of clubs are monitoring their progress ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

It has come to light that representatives from Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United plus West Brom were among the 2,013 spectators at the Hive Stadium on March 23 as Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by Senegal.

Besiktas, CSKA Moscow and Standard Liege scouts were also sighted during the friendly between the two West African opponents.

''Many European scouts came to watch the game but they will be largely disappointed that the second game against Burkina Faso didn't hold, '' a top scout who was at the Hive Stadium told
allnigeriasoccer.com.

''It will be too emotional to judge a player with just one game. ''
It is assumed that Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Eddy Onazi and Oghenekaro Etebo were noticed by the scouts in attendance.

Rohr Keeping Close Watch On “Nigerian Peter Crouch” Paul Onuachu Who Has 12 League Goals This Season In Denmark

The fine form of giant Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is closely being monitored by coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr according to one of the assistants of the Franco-German coach of the team.

Onuachu is presently one of the top scorers in the Danish Championship with 12 goals for Midtylland, who are presently in the play offs for a spot in next season Europa League. He has an astonishing record of 8 goals in his last 8 games for the Danish side.

Nicknamed Nigerian Peter Crouch due to his height which is similar to that of Stoke City forward Peter Crouch, 22 year old Onuachu also has two goals in the Danish Cup with his brace against high flying Aab helping his side to a 3-2 win away from home.

” Rohr is aware of him, we are closely monitoring his performances this season just like every other Nigerian player. Onuachu is very young and he will get his chance if he maintains his form”, an assistant to the coach told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Olarenwaju Kayode profited from showing consistency over a long period of time. I think Onuachu will benefit from same means if he improves on his form, A move away to a team in a more competitive league will also do his chances a whole lot of good”.

I have said this before: Man United I recommend Karo Etebo to you.

He will turn out to be that Sadio Mane you lost to Liverpool.
