Players refuse to board plane to Confederation Cup game over unpaid allowances

Enugu Rangers players have refused to board the flight to Zambia for a CAF Confederation Cup clash against ZESCO United in protest over unpaid allowances.

The players are claiming to be owed N405, 000 ($1000) each for travelling allowances for a CAF Champions League game in Algeria.

The squad was scheduled to depart the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu on Thursday, April 13 but the players refused to board the flight.

They refused pleas by top officials of the Enugu State Government and insist that they must be paid before they board the flight.

According to SCORE Nigeria, the players have headed to their respective homes.

Enugu Rangers had a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to ZESCO United in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Their former coach Imama Amapakabo was sacked after the game.

Amapakabo afterwards revealed that players were forced to forfeit the rewards that were pledged to them after winning the Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL) title.

Although the club confirmed that the players have received the rewards, .

The coach revealed that the players were forced to sign a document which stipulated that they received the pledges and that they have been given a race.

This claim was made in an interview on the daily morning sports show on Lagos Talks Radio.

News That Ola Aina Has Been Handed Spot In England U20 Team Fabricated, Not Eligible

A report that Chelsea defender Ola Aina is set to snub a potential call-up to the Nigerian national team and represent England at next month's Fifa U20 World Cup in South Korea is fabricated.

Allnigeriasoccer.com , who broke the news that Aina was flirting with the Super Eagles, can report that he has no chance whatsoever to play for the Young Lions.

The right wing-back was born on October 8, 1996 and is ineligible for the competition by approximately three months as the age cut-off is players born on or after January 1, 1997.

England U20s coach Paul Simpson is monitoring 48 players ahead of the trip to South Korea, and the list should include Josh Onomah (Tottenham), Fikayo Tomori, Dominic Solanke (both Chelsea) and Ademola Lookman (Everton).

Aina, a former England U19 captain, trained with the Super Eagles last month in London and caught the eye of coach Gernot Rohr.

Agent Keeping His Fingers Crossed Over Availability Of Ex-Chelsea Star Mikel

John Obi Mikel's intermediary John Shittu is not a hundred percent sure regarding the availability of his client for Sunday's Chinese Super League clash between Tianjin Teda and Guangzhou Evergrande at TEDA Football Stadium.

Two months before the crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, the Super Eagles skipper missed the goalless draw against Guizhou Zhicheng last weekend after failing to recover from injury.

''We will see what happens this weekend, I am not the coach and won't know if Mikel will be selected,'' John Shittu told allnigeriasoccer.com .

If Mikel fully recovers from the muscle injury, that means the central midfielder or defender will face Guangzhou Evergrande, who are coached by ex-Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The Tianjin Teda skipper played the first three games of the new season prior to his spell on the sidelines.

You have nailed it with regards to our fans. I can chant some foreign teams fan songs. Even Ghana have a song that is echoed around the stadium when they are playing home games. Closest we have to a unified fan song is when SE need a goal "All we are saying give us one goal". But to to me that ain't a true fan song. We can at least have "Fan Ultras". The Supporters club is a very dead one. Same boring trumpets and disjointed drums slowing down the pace of the game. I await to see when Nigerian fans would sit in a formation and form a sign in the crowd. I don't know how these European, Asian and North African teams do it, but I think we could do same here. These things add to spice up a game and motivate a home side while intimidating the other side. It pains me that SE is playing a game and some people wear Barca, Man Utd and Chelsea jersies to our games. I don't think getting a white BYC or a green shirt is that hard to get. Passionate fans need to come together and plan on moving SE forward.

With regards to commentary, the lesser said about old nigerian cmmentators, the better grin

daveP:
To analyse this issue sef. same road, same talk. and to think that the song that has been on the lips of our national supporters club is still "he's a miracle working God" since dem born me.(nobody fit sit down compose beta song wey pikin sef go sing with passion?). grin

At least get some young peeps who know who jon champion and jim beglin are(those commentators may not know who these men are o)

Femi and the gang..... well jobs from the sport sector alone can employ tens of thousands outside the pitch, just passion driven alone, but fg are totally blinded. i twale for that nig info crew. they can make you appreciate common radio.

Now I know why NFF can never have a functioning internal audit dept. How would able bodied men go to Uyo and look at that pitch with their korokoro eye and express satisfaction. If you guys look at the pitch they are expressing satisfaction on Toyin Ibitoye's twitter handle, AFRAID would catch you guys. Well it's a good thing they are working on it, but I know what the term "working on it" means in Nigerian pitch repairs. It simply means get it to a state of being less bumpy but it'l definitely be bumpy. Don't expect to see anything like the pitches in SA or North Africa.
Next point is after this repair, they'd close it down in September to repair it for the game against Zambia in October. What a nation. I don't even want to mention Abuja stadium or the Adokiyie Amesiemaka stadium in PH. Last 2 games on that pitch were horrible. CIV vs Sierra Leone and Enyimba vs Zamalek. Omg!, the Enyimba game you would bring a true football lover and a Nigeria lover to tears. To think the PH and Uyo stadiums were built in the past 5 years, I just smh for our public sector. I know we have the capacity to get it right, but it's looking like we may never have the right people to get it right.
It's cos of nonsense like this I would never want Nigeria to apply to host the Worldcup, cos it would be a waste of tax payers money. After that Worldcup, give it 6 years none of the stadiums would be functional. No plans would be put in place to utilize the facilities afterwards. And trust the FG, they would make it so difficult for the presiding State govts or private sector to come in and manage some of the stadia.

Again, I believe we can get it right especially with infrastructures....

NFF Okay Uyo Pitch For Super Eagles Vs Bafana

The Nigerian Football Federation technical committee have expressed satisfaction with the current state of the playing turf of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo which is billed to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Super Eagles and South Africa in two months, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

An NFF press release says the inspection team was led by the Chairman of NFF Technical and Development Committee Chris Green and inspected the facility, which hosted the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Super Eagles and Tanzania in September 2016, as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying battle between the Eagles and the Fennecs of Algeria last year.

After the inspection, the team reported: “Every inch of the field is covered by grass and the grass is lush green. Julius Berger (the company that built the stadium) has commenced work on the field for the purpose of bringing it to the best standard possible. Every other facility is in good condition.

“The condition of the field, as it is now, is good enough for matches to be played on it. The Akwa Ibom State Government has continued to show desire and commitment to hosting the match.”

“We are delighted with the state of the playing turf and other facilities at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium,” Green told thenff.com.

“I can tell you that the pitch is just as it was when the Super Eagles played Algeria in the World Cup qualifier in November last year.

“The fact that Julius Berger has also started some work on the turf is even more re-assuring.

“They are adding manure, and afterwards will do cutting and rolling, and they have the benefit of the weather at this period. By the time we host South Africa on 10th June, the pitch will be one of the very best anywhere in Africa.”

Any body who is dedicated to Instagram, Twitter and Snapschat stalking can do what Owngoal is doing. Don't even waste your time on FB, cos players don't really use that. Most of the pics, videos, and stories Owngoal report are already on the players SM pages. The only time I can take owngoal serious is with news concerning unknown academy player transfers because they seem to have a connect to some of these players in states such as Kaduna and Jos which is accounts for about 60 percent of the academy transfers to Europe, So on that one I give it to them. But on national team selections, you and I can come up with a national team selection by just monitoring 1) Rohr's and Salisu's interviews leading up to the list, 2) Players current form, 3) Weighing the media hype of a certain player. If you try this before the SA game, I swear, just create blog and use the term from "an NFF insider who pleaded to remain anonymous", everybody would read your blog. That's all owngoal does.
I only take their academy transfer news serious cos they tend to get those ones right 90 percent of the time.

TheSuperNerd:

You should understand Owngoalnigeria by now.... they make lots of deductions and postulations when it comes to The Super Eagles list for games.... and most times they are spot on... at other times... they are wrong.

There is no official list flying around to say Ighalo has been dropped... this is them being deductive and analytically predictive again.

To add to this, during the last camping exercise in London, pictures owngoal claimed as exclusives, were gotten from different twitter accounts,
1) Calvin Emeka 2) David Doherty (majority of the pics were from him) 3) Shina Okeleji 4) DIfferent player accounts. I really dislike the word exclusive especially when it is not an exclusive. I took them very serious when they first started but recently they have started falling by the wayside I don't if it's cos of the unnoticed beef they have with allnigeriasoccer. E.g. of the beef, Owngoal said Aina is being enticed with under20, AllNigeria counters with a story that Aina is not eligible based on age. My brother who we go believe? grin grin grin grin

Fear Grips Nigeria Over International Future Of Chelsea Aina With England Set To Hand Him A Spot In Their National Team For WYC

The Super Eagles of Nigeria currently run the risk of losing fast rising Chelsea teen defender Ola Aina to the Three Lions of England despite the defender training with the Nigerian team in March.

Coach Gernot Rohr is however of a different view , as the Franco German coach of the Super Eagles told Brila Fm that Aina has committed his international future to Nigeria ahead of England where he is presently a youth international.

Aina trained with the Super Eagles in London and even took part in a practice game but according to a top source of the Nigeria Football Federation, the 19 year old is yet to fully commit to Nigeria.

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that England have offered him a spot in their U-20 team to the next World Youth Championship as a bait to lure him away completely from Nigeria , who are reportedly set to cap him next month during their camping exercise in France.

The step taken by England has further delayed Aina from giving the Nigeria Football Federation the go ahead to start processing his switch from England to Nigeria ahead of the test games next month.

Good evening everyone‎

My younger brother has a passion for football . He's very talented and just 14 years old.
Please how can I get him into any these genuine football academies.

Thanks
Cc: tbaba1234, Joebie, danycrusoe,
Goldfish, daveP, etc ‎

You didn't mention the state of residence of your brother.
However, if I am to suggest, I will ask your brother to first join a kick around team in your neighbourhood. They will put him in the best physical conditions and boost his confidence in an organised set up.
He can as well join his school team, that is if he is not in the school team already. I believe he is in secondary school and his school have a games master. You can talk to his games master and ask him to allow your brother try out with the school team.

These are the baby steps to take enroute to seek out an academy to sign him up. If he doesn't take these steps, he might not do well in trial when he presents himself at an academy. Obviously during trials, he would be facing hot players he's not used to. Infact he may not pass the strength and conditioning test during trials with some of these academies if he just goes from home to trials.

This is the registration form for the kwara academy registration form you can check them out.
http://kwarafootballacademy.com/apply-now/

You may as well check Abuja football academy website. I hear Barcelona will flag off their Academy in Lagos later this year. However, he should first take the steps I listed to prepare himself. Its a very long and excruciating journey, I wish him good luck.

CAFCC: Rangers Players’ Allowances Paid, Off To Zambia Friday After Protest

By Johnny Edward:

Players of Enugu Rangers will depart Nigeria for Ndola, Zambia for their CAF Confederation Cup play-offs second leg against Zesco United on Friday after they finally received their travelling allowances for the fixture, Comple tesportsnigeria.com has reliably gathered.

The players refused to the board the airplane (Ethiopian Airlines) reserved for them to Ndola on Thursday, demanding their full match entitlements.

Completesportsnigeria.com gathered that each player received the sum of $730 as traveling allowances for the match.

The payment according to a club source was not made on time because the traveling expenses were sent to the Enugu State government late. But the Commissioner for Sports in the State waded in to resolve the crisis.

“They sent in their proposal late for the government to respond but somehow the Commissioner after discussing with the Governor provided the fund for the players who are expected to travel on Friday,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Enugu Rangers have written a letter to the Confederation of African Football CAF through the Nigerian Football Federation for the game to be postponed to Sunday.

“If the Enugu Rangers players depart on Friday they will arrive in Zambia on the matchday and it could be a disaster for the team already distracted by issues of funds,” the source added.

The Flying Antelopes surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in the first leg of the tie at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium last weekend.

Taye Taiwo Praises Ndidi, Tips Leicester To Shock Atletico

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Super Eagles defender Taye Taiwo has heaped praises on Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi for his emergence as an important player for club and country, Comple tesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ndidi was in action for 90 minutes on Wednesday night but his international team-mate Ahmed Musa did not travel with the team to Spain for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final defeat against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.

The FC Lausanne-Sport left-back told Completesportsnigeria.com: "Atletico Madrid have the lead from last night going into the second leg but from the way Leicester have performed in the Champions League this season, you cannot really bet that they will lose in England.

"I love the way they play football and even happier that one of our boys, Wilfred Ndidi, is doing well for them. Unfortunately Ahmed Musa has not played so much under the new coach but every coach has their preferred players.

"Musa can still play a big part for them next season. Ndidi has come into the national team and going by the way he has been playing, he will be an important leader in the national team too. I think he can be one of the best midfielders in his position."

Lausanne-Sport will face Basel on Saturday in their league game. Taiwo's club are placed seventh in the Swiss League table.

Orkpekyandega:

Taye Taiwo plays every week with his club, i don't see why he should not be invited it is not like he is playing in Sudan or something.

If we can be talking about someone who couldn't cut it in the Turkish league and ends up in the Bosnian league and we are calling him a future prospect.

Then why not a proven, tested and experienced professional at the highest levels. After all at what age did Maldini retire as a left back for Milan and Italy.

Why not Taiwo, considering we invited at least four players who were injured or just recovering from Injury and bench warmers in thier respective teams.

People win tournaments with a blend of youth and experience not just youth alone.

And in our case what we are calling youth is still open to debate. And omit top players like Taiwo, Aluko and yes even Martins who currently is in better form in the Chinese league than Ideye and Ighalo.

Two questions do you want him to play in an Academy in Nigeria exclusively.

Do you have his performance test stats.

Joebie:
Sir habayommy

I think first you need to research the best football academies in Nigeria. Because I believe you want the best for your younger brother.
Next try to find their contact and make inquiries. I think that's the professional way to do it.

e.g: http://www.pepsifootballacademy.com/contacts

I don't know of any backyard way. But Nigeria na Nigeria lol
NPFL clubs are being encouraged to have feeder teams now. Keep your ears open for trials.

That's my little take on the issue. I wish you and your brother the best! And I hope you give him the best advice when clubs in Europe start coming for him.

Modified:
Post videos of him in action. I'm sure we would all like to see.

just like Joebie as said Pepsi academy looks the best. However if u are based in Lagos COD fc academy is recommendable, they run that club in a very good manner, can say it is one of the top 5 professionally run football clubs in Nigeria, also Buruj academy owned by Obesere the popular fuji singer is a decent one, if you are in Ogun state u can take him to Remo stars on any match day that they would be playing at home or contact Remo stars on Facebook, if u are in Abuja, Fc Abuja is the best in that are as far as I am concerned. there are other academies scattered across the country but for now those are the few I can recommend.

you can also try the nearest NPFL or NNL club near u. More importantly let him participate in any inter-class or inter-school football competition arranged in your area with his class or school, that is how many got there breakthrough.

Good luck to him

Thanks for taking out time to reply. I appreiciate

You may as well check Abuja football academy website. I hear Barcelona will flag off their Academy in Lagos later this year. However, he should first take the steps I listed to prepare himself. Its a very long and excruciating journey, I wish him good luck.

Thanks for taking out time to respond.
State of residence? He shuttles between Berger(Lagos) and Sango Ota(Ogun state).
