Thoughts?

for me a joke , a plane is for flying , when you show a new plane , you dont show taxi test only , This must be one of their f5 northrop modified with a mock-up mounted on it , wait and see fly tests

Common. Helicopters perform better than each other it's a norm. However saying the MI-35 isn't a dedicated helicopter because it carries troops is wrong. Tell me one thing the Mi-28 will do and the mi-35 won't do. Armament etc.

I'm not helicopter person so I will love to hear nemesis2u opinion on this argument.

Let me it an intellectual argument please. We should avoid using insultive words. I know patches will Jump in soon.

Someone recently had unkind words for N2U on this thread-IDK if he'll be back.

The MI-35m is the most modern attack helicopter south of the Sahara. It comes with the added advantage of being able to carry 8 troops. That's a major advantage! For troop transport we have the MI-17 and Super Puma.

Excluding South Africa of course.

The Apache, MI-28 and MI-35m are currently the most advanced Attack Helicopters in Africa.

I think the Algerian MI-28 with dual controls is the most advanced AH in Africa.

Define advance.

By dual control you mean?

Both the MI-28NE(Algeria) and the AH-64D which the Egyptian Air Force flies have very similar characteristics in all areas, performance, information sharing, survivability, firepower and fire control radar.

However the MI-28NE which Algeria is getting comes with dual controls, this means that both pilots can fly the aircraft, allowing for increased survivability and a significant ease in pilot training, unlike the Apache which has the normal tandem configuration where the pilot at the back is only responsible for flying and the pilot in front (gunner) is responsible for shooting only.

Henry dont mind me asking but with dual capabilities for the MI-28 wont there be confusion btw the two pilots on controlling and the gunship, especially when both are in a tensed up situation?

So, until Egypt starts receiving the KA-52k, the Algerian MI-28NE is the most advanced AH in Africa, followed by the AH-64D of Egypt , the MI-35m from Nigeria.

The pilot at the back is in-charge of flying the helicopter, when the pilot is incapacitated or there is a failure in systems only then can the gunner take over.

I am sure the mi28 is more maneuverable then mi35 but the fact that it can carry troops and cargo to the frontline and then engage in combat makes is better in my opinion. Amisom and Somalia would benefit from getting some

He doesn't know what he is talking about.

Even the Rooivalk can be controlled by either the pilot or the WSO. The pilot can also utilized the weapons.

He is just pulling an augububu on us.

Apache - maybe, depends on the variant
Mi-28 - probably
Mi-35M - not even a dedicated attack helicopter, let alone advanced.

You keep saying it, but when asked the million dollar question "why?" you never respond.

The day the Mi-35M is capable of using stand-off munitions with targeting from secondary platforms... feel free to get hold of us.

My favorit part about the Mi35 is how if you pull hard evasive maneuvers you chop your own tail off.... or how you cant hover under combat conditions.

Or how it cant do NOE (unlike the other 3 platforms), or how it has no meaningful netcentric warfare capabilities and mediocre EW capabilities (Export = No Vitebsk EW module for you!).

Mi35M is a great bird, rugged, well armored, robust... a hammer for any nail. But to try argue its "amongst the most advanced in Africa" is absolute foolishness. You are trying to tell us a hammer is a scalpel.

The Algerian Mokopa armed Lynx, for example, is more advanced.

They had just gotten their arses kicked at Gazala, the defences at Tobruk had not been maintained and Allied High Command had given conflicting directives as to whether or not Tobruk was to be defended to the last man.

He obviously reckoned that it would be too costly to hold it against Rommel.

Yeah, you bet I would be absolutely wasted if I was about to surrender my Division. Especially after the Austrialians had put up such a good defence previously

But his forces were intact! In fact IIRC at least one of his brigades wasn't even in contact! What was the real deal?

For those who frequent this site just out of general curiosity. The highlighted section above is a prime example of someone literally just making sh1.t up as he goes along.

If the situation ever came about that the decicated pilot cannot fly the aircraft (perhaps killed by ground fire), the remaining poor soul will have to do everything in his power to either defend himself or get that aircraft out of there as soon as he can. Meaning which the airframe will probably be pushed to its maximum design limitations.

So where does the ease in pilot training come in? He or she will have to handle that aircraft just as well as a dedicated pilot in order to survive. Meaning he or she went through the same rigorous training routine.
