I ask my self, can Naija anthem ever be rendition ed like how the Brazilians sang this in the 2014 WC? What an atmosphere.

Still on improving the spectacle of being a Naija fan, look at the organization of Leipzig fans. Can care less about what they chanting but it license the place up. I'd love Naija to have a fan hype man like some of these European and Asian teams do.

Check out @RBLeipzig_EN's Tweet: https://twitter.com/RBLeipzig_EN/status/853278861508980736?s=01

If you watch the Super Eagles at the National stadium Lagos then you go know say National Anthem plenty.

Rivers have the ability to get a draw or at least an away goal. They should qualify because there would be no excuse for them.

A team that beat Al merrekh 3-0 in PH and lost that lead in less than 40mins of the return leg?

I cannot stick my neck for those ones. If they scale through good for them and their fans.

But Bascovanveli, this one you are defending the NPFL teams these days. Is it because of the 'Odey' argument? Hahaha!

Lol! I remember when you once asked me if I work with the NPFL just be I was defending the choice of some young NPFL players in the U23 team. One notable one is my choice of Junior Ajayi over Taiwo Awoniyi.

I recall u said something like 'everyone here knows the NPFL is a ....... (forgotten the exact word of ridicule ) except you. It's as if you work with the NPFL'.

part of the reasons some players get better@ the game is cos thru up or down, the fans still hype them. pls tell me the last time a city fan mentioned him on social media? he'r forgotten. even nolito still gets mentioned. nacho's mate are far ahead of him no doubt. but preparation for exam isnt forever. so let the exam start. il support him if he is succesful elsewhere and he disses "The Driller" even more happier if he catches up with rashford, sane, and the other fellow young stars he was ahead of before this oil exploration by the driller began. To a brazilian coach, no matter how 'otu' you are, if you arent having playing time at your club, no call up.

No call up for the time being but when it is clear the player improved, the call up will come. I am not after the initial hype. Balotelli had lots of it. He never reached the height. Anelka was voted best young player in the World in his teens and never reached the height.

Game time and hype is not a guarantee for Success. What is a guarantee is constant improvement. A season or two with out game time but perfecting your craft on the training ground is not forever. Nacho's time will come and he will ace the exams.

MFM’s Odey, Olatunbosun Set For Trials In Belgium

By Johnny Edward:

Nigerian Professional Football League 2016/2017 top scorer Stephen Odey and his teammate Sikiru Olatunbosun are set to dump MFM FC in May for trials with an unnamed club in Belgium, Completesportsnigeria.com has gathered.

Both players, according to a player agent with access to them, have applied for Belgian visas and are expected to know their fate this week if they will be granted the travel document.

"Odey and Sikiru are going for trials next month and that may halt MFM's chemistry in attack," the source told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"The coach is already scouting for replacements for them if they get to move next month."

Odey has scored 14 NPFL goals this season and reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Rivers United recently.[sub][/sub]

Olatunbosun has also been in fine form this season for the league leaders, scoring one of the best goals of the campaign which also won the CNN Goal of the Week honour.

Is Iheanacho better than Aguero? Especially when you consider Aguero dropping deep and building plays. Gabriel Jesus also does this better than Nacho. Iheanacho is improving but he is not up to their level yet.

It was easier for Sane because he only had Nolito ahead of him on the left side attack. If City seals Neymar, Sane will go back to the bench.

In other words Iheanacho is "not there yet".Hahaha.

Hibernian star Ambrose eyes 2018 FIFA World Cup finals with Nigeria

by Austin Ditlhobolo

Saturday Apr 15, 2017. 15:30
Hibernian FC defender Efe Ambrose has been named Scottish Championship Player of the Month for March.

The Nigeria international is currently on-loan at Hibernian from Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Celtic.

Ambrose, who has scored once in seven Championship games, thanked former Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers, who is the Celtic head coach.

”Like I said yesterday this award wouldn’t have been possible without the help of coach Rodgers," Ambrose told Owngoalnigeria.com

"He made me not to lose hope , let me repeat myself he is a father and a friend to me. I learnt a lot playing under his tutelage.

Ambrose, who has over 50 Nigeria caps, stated that he dreams of playing for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia.

”My immediate aim is to help Hibs to the title, then see what happens in the future," the 28-year-old player continued.

"Because my next move will be crucial to my dreams of going to the World Cup 2018 with the Nigeria national team."

Odion Ighalo sidelined for four weeks

Nigeria international striker Odion Ighalo is set to spend a month on the sidelines after sustaining an injury in Chinese Super League action over the weekend.

The Super Eagles player left the pitch in the 73rd minute of Changchun Yatai's 3-2 loss to Shanghai Shenhua on Saturday.

Ighalo was immediately rushed to hospital near the Development Area Stadium, with the club fearing that he has has suffered a recurrence of an old injury as he was felled on the ankle.

Initial reports suggest the former Watford player will spend four weeks out of action.

The good news for Nigeria is that this injury should not affect his availability for the team’s next competitive fixture, a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in early June.

Wilfred Ndidi: I don't listen to people who compare me to N'Golo Kante

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi wants to be known for who he is than the tagged “New Kante” at the English club.

The Nigeria international joined Leicester from Belgian club Genk midway through the current season and many have regarded him as N'Golo Kante's replacement.

Kante, who is a French international, left Leicester for Chelsea after helping them win the 2015/16 English Premier League (EPL) title.

“I can only see myself as myself,” Ndidi told Own Goal Nigeria.

“Whether people say I play like Kanté, or that he’s better than me, I don’t listen to them.

"All I want to do is play and keep improving, and it is working well at the moment – we are doing the basic things well and we try to kick on from there," he said.

"I prefer to enjoy the winning mentality of the team rather than how I play or what I try to achieve."

Al Merrekh fans being hostile is what we see every day CAF club competitions so no excuses.

Talking about me bashing Manu's boys I was only asking u guys to calm down on the hypes. For instance, I recall u and other guys here saying Awoniyi was good enough for a starting 11 in the Liverpool team.

You did not believe there were quality young players in the NPFL to match those of the Manu boys. I recall standing my ground that Junior Ajayi was better suited as our U23 striker than Awoniyi and u told me Awoniyi was in a separate Planet from Ajayi. I also fronted Karo Etebo as being almost equally as gifted as Iheanacho.
U went ahead to ask me if I work with the NPFL.

See I am a kind of person believes our NPFL has so many talented youngsters. But I know how far I can rate them. For our U20s and U23s no qualms but for the current Super Eagles setting? You'll need to prove more than being an NPFL highest goals scorer to get my nod.

Where are the likes of Chikeluba Ofoedu, Jude Aneke, Sikiru Adigun, Chisom Chikatara, Tunde Adeniji, Emen Uduok, Godwin Obaje, Mfom Udoh,? These are young players that took the NPFL by storm in the last 4-5 yrs but how are their game levels today?

If you feel Stephen Odey can deliver better than Fenan Ardi, Olanrewaju Kayode, and Aaron Samuel, then he deserves the call-up.

Portland Timbers can learn from Sporting Kansas City defeat, says Fanendo Adi

Fanendo Adi

Shina Oludare

The Timbers forward says his side will examine the mistakes they made in their shock home defeat to the Wizards and make sure they are not repeated

Fanendo Adi says Portland Timbers will learn from the mistakes they made in their shock 1-0 defeat to Sporting Kansas City at Providence Park on Sunday.

Dominic Dwyer’s 53rd minute’s strike subdued the hosts before their home fans for their second loss of the season.

The Nigeria who admitted that his side did not have the control of the game is hoping for a vast improvement from their next outings.

“It was just an up and down game. We didn’t have the flow of the game,'' Adi told club website.

''Kansas City came in with a pretty good plan to press very high. I think that’s what they did, but we gave up some balls and the goal came out of nowhere.

''They took advantage of some mistakes and credit to them. They came to play their own type of game. They didn’t let us play our football.

''It was a very choppy game. They came to interrupt, destroy and just commit fouls. We had a lot of fouls, but they weren’t called. Credit to them.''

''That was their game plan, and they executed it,'' he continued.

''Of course for us we wanted to play, but we didn’t have the opportunity to play. We needed to adjust a little bit in the second half, but it was still choppy up and down.

''We’ll learn from it. We believe the next game is going to be pretty much the same, but it’s good we had the test today.”

Caleb Porter’s men host Vancouver Whitecaps in their next outing on April 22.

Aluko’s strike powers Fulham into Premier League play-off spot

Sone Aluko

Shina Oludare

The Cottagers silenced the Villans on Monday afternoon to brighten their chances of booking an English topflight ticket, with the Nigerian on target

Sone Aluko registered his first goal after three games to help Fulham brush aside Aston Villa 3-1 in an English Championship game played at Craven Cottage.

The Nigerian got his side’s second goal in the 56th minute to help Slaviša Jokanović’s side move into the play-off zone.

Aluko’s acrobatic volley off Floyd Ayite’s cross gave Fulham the lead after Jack Grealish had levelled Ryan Sessegnon’s opener before Neeskens Kebano sealed the win in the 62nd minute.

With this victory, the Cottagers jump to sixth on the English Championship log with 73 points from 43 games.

They travel to Kirklees Stadium on April 22 for their fixture against third placed Huddersfield Town as they intensify their return to the English Premier League.

For Aluko, he has featured in 42 appearances this season with eight goals to his credit.

Senior Ronaldo would have done more with a more disciplined lifestyle. If you study why lots of promising stars fail, you will see poor lifestyle as a culprit.

That is why I like the strict system of Guardiola and I want Nacho to absorb it. It is not easy and that I why I do not want an early departure.

First of all, Van Persie was involved in a lot of build-up plays. Remember, he also started as a creative midfielder.

Calling Firmino an average player shows you are out of touch with the debate. Do you think Klopp will send Benteke away for an average player? Firmino is also Brazil's second striker. You do not get to that level being average.

As for Lukaku, he is brilliant but there is a lot in his game that I feel needed polishing. Unfortunately, he needs to stick to his way. My point is that building happens in the late teens/early twenties.

Nacho should make the most of this opportunity.
even before klopp joined looserpool sorry Liverpool everybody knew benteke will be sold cos he doesn't fit klopp style, it's not a matter if he was good or not it's just a matter of style. everybody knows there's a dearth of quality number 9 in Brazil so firmino starting for them isn't a surprise that doesn't make him top class. after RVP started banging goals as a number 9,his work rate dropped drastically or what will you say about Ruud boy who is a will known poacher, of all the goals he scored for United, he only scored one goal outside the box. so if Nacho doesn't fit Pep style abeg make he join another club wey go love his style. Zlatan didn't fit Pep style that didn't make him less of a great player.

Liverpool Loanee Taiwo Awoniyi Back In Favour At NEC Nijmegen

Dutch side NEC Nijmegen suffered a big blow in their bid to beat the drop to the second division after losing 0-3 away from home to FC Twente at the De Grolsch Veste Stadium.

The loss compounded the woes of the team as they slipped to 17th on log just a spot and five point behind basement club Go Ahead Eagles with five games left to play in the regular season.

However for their Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi who is on a season long loan from English side Liverpool he has regained his spot in the team with three starts to his name from their last three games, after previously failing to play in nearly all of their games last month.

Awoniyi lasted the entire duration of their game against Twente, and was joined in the game by fellow Nigerian forward Arnold Danjuma Groenveld who was introduced with around 15 minutes left to play in the tie.

19 year old Awoniyi is still searching for his first goal of the season after playing in 16 games, a statistic which is shocking owing to how deadly the striker is when it comes to burying balls in the back of the net during his days with the Nigeria U-17, 20 & 23.

The debate about he not being there started way back from when he got promoted to the City first 11.That was even before Oliseh was appointed coach. Joseph1013 plz bear me witness on this.

You said Iheanacho was in a class different from those of Aguero, Bonny, Novas and co. U even likened him to Messi and Ronaldo.

I even recall you once said u are sure of Iheanacho's future at City as there was no 19yrs old any where in the world as good as him. Well, little did you know that Jesus was coming soon.

Super Eagles Defender Tyronne Ebuehi Shows Class For ADO Den Haag Against PSV

PSV Eindhoven hopes of keeping up with Dutch League leaders Feyenoord and Ajax suffered a set back following their 1-1 draw against ADO Den Haag which leaves them five points behind the league top two sides.

ADO Deen Haag fought back from a goal down to snatch a point three minutes from the end of the game through Japanese forward Mike Havenaar , but they could have fallen further behind if not for their defence line which had Nigerian right back Tyronne Ebuehi in the mix .

Ebuehi showed why he is so highly regarded by coach of the senior national team if Nigeria with a solid show at the back , winning tackles, reading and intercepting play as well as starting off attacks from the rear for his team.

The 21 year old who was rated the best defender on show for his team in their last weekend clash against Groningen has so far made 26 appearances this season with a goal to his name from his position as a full back for ADO Deen Haag who ate struggling to remain in the first division of Dutch football League.

Okonkwo struck what ended as the wining goal for his team in the 44th minute, his fourth goal in two games following his hattrick in their last game against Cagliari. He now has 14 goals in all competitions with four of his other goals coming in the prestigious Viareggio youth tournament.

The 19 year old has been a big revelation this season for the Serie A side following his transfer from Nigeria in the summer after emerging as one of the shining light of the Nigerian team that failed to qualify for the Africa U-20 youth championship .

Known for his speed, power and shooting abilities , he rose to the first team of the club in just a month before suffering an injury which kept him away for one month. He has been with the Primavera side since his return from injury.

His fine form has however not gone unnoticed with Inter-Milan pushing for a summer deal for the teen forward as exclusively reported by this football portal yesterday.

Little Known Nigerian Forward Asagidigbi Dazzles For Argentine Side CA Banfied Against Boca Juniors

Karamone FC wonderkid Feyisetan Asagidigbi made his unofficial debut for Argentine CA Banfied by starring for their reserve team in a 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors.

18 year old Asagidigbi gave a good impression of himself during the course of the game , with smart link up play and dribbles clearly proving why he is so highly rated back home in Nigeria.

Although his status with the club is still unclear regarding a professional contract , his display against Boca Jumiors will no doubt aid his case to be offered a contract by the team that produced Real Madrid super star James Rodriguez.

The club also won the Argentine Super League in 2012, and Asagidigbi will be hoping to kick start his career at the team in a league where only few Nigerians have taken part , the last being Okiki Afolabi who had a short stint with CD Talleres.
