1.Abuja has been ranked as being less livable than either Joburg, CapeTown or Nairobi
2.The lies you people spill in the name of arrogance!!Dagonte is building a 650,000 bpd refinery. That is less than half of the capacity of the Jamjangar refinery in India which has a capacity of 1,240,000 bpd
3.The first Africans to do whaaa...Dude, self delusions of gradeur right there!!!Do a little research .Again!!
4.The best and most influential banking....Nigerian banks are known to be the biggest on the continent, and the most backwards, considering that Nigerian cards rarely work outside the continent, introduced atms in 2001(when we had them in 1983!!) and need I talk of the fact that they offer so few products.
Nigerian banks are not influential. Can you name a single country in East Central and Southern Africa where a Nigerian bank is the largest there. In Kenya, Nigerian bank UBA comes at number 38 out of 44.
5.Most influention fashion and entertainment....Goes to South Africa,Not Nigeria!!! Last I checked, we have a kinship with South Africans as most East and Central Africans are of a common origin. You do not. When people go to holiday in Africa in Kenya, it is South Africa and guess what it is also vice versa, We got 40,000 South African tourists in Kenya last year.Nobody goes to Nigeria!!! Their influence in East Africa is faaar much stronger than the country that just gave us the 'Naija-Avangers ' movie whose poster was the laughing stock this week.
7.Most successful business men in Africa. Last I checked, the only one Kenyans know is Dagonte and the rest we have blocked and deported.Plus, many of those 'successful 'businessmen= DRUG DEALERS because that is what Nigerians are known for around here!!
8First African nation to launch a satellite....Can you please stop bullshitting us!!!We know those satellites are built by other nations and not a single one has ever been launched in Nigeria!!!Heck, even Kenya has an actual space station, YOU DO NOT!!!
9.Building the largest financial city...Are you talking of EKO Atlantic which first of all is being built by Lebanese businessmen, Not Nigerians, and with the current nonsense in Nigeria will be half empty. In Kenya, our own Konza Techno City is being built by the GOVERNMENT OF KENYA, not some foreigners. THE GOVERNMENT OF KENYA!!
SMH!!

Kai, the hatred and bitterness in your soul towards Naija is really strong.

I have no time to give lengthy replies to your outrage. So i'd be brief.

- Abuja was not built to be a Noisy city like Lagos or Nairobi, it was mainly built for administrative purposes (just like Washington DC). We leave all the noisiness to Lagos.
- Dangote's refinery is the 'Largest single refinery' in the world and not the Largest. Read and digest word for word before you rush to argue.
-I f you know another Car manufacturing company 100% owned by another African apart from Innoson, feel free to share.
- Let's agree that Nigerian banks are not influential, pls list the Kenyan or other countries' banks that are more influential. Don't just condemn without bringing a list of better alternatives.
- Ok, let's agree that South African entertainment is more influential than Naija's, how come we sell more (even outside Naija)? How come we dominate all the biggest African entertainment award shows? How come our artistes and producers are the richest? How come more African countries are adopting Naija's cultures? How come we feature more with the biggest entertainment industry in the world (USA)? How come our entertainment industry's net worth is many times more than other countries entertainment worth?
- Nigeria has about 10 billionaires (who are all business men) while your own country and the entire east Africa has no single billionaire and your richest ppls list is dominated by Indians and political families.
- Your argument does not change the fact that the first African satelite launched was Naija's and was also operated by Naija. In 2011, a made in Naija satelite was launched on July 27th.
- Eko atlantic is a public-private partnership project, hence the Lagos state govt receiving certificates and awards by international organisations. You forgot that the concept and master plan of your Konza city was proposed by Deloitte and Pell Frischmann (the british consultancy). It was not an original idea or plan of a Black-assed kenyan man either.
Lagos state govt on her own have been building Lekki city and free trade zone and just started building Orange island. The first smart city to be built in Africa (Lagos smart city) has already been contracted and awarded and will soon take off. What about the ones in Abuja and other Nigerian state govts i am not mentionning??

Yes only two HQs. Getting even 1 global HQ of UN is a monumental task. Paris has forever been trying to steal the 2HQs away from Nairobi. We have effing 2. So hell yeah, only 2 goddamn GLOBAL UN HQs will do, thank you very much. That puts Nairobi at oar with other cities hosting UN Hqs like Genevé and NY city. I dont think UN would want to put up anything global in sweaty, septic tank and borehole using Lagoose.

Analyse that.

Nairobi is inconsequential in the realms of African politics. grin

You are highly deluded if you think ANY Tunisian would want to be associated with the extreme poverty that characterizes much of Egypt, you know so little of the planet it seems!! No Norwegian has been interested in being American for the past 50 years.
Many Americans want to be Canadian these days.
And who told you any Hong Kong resident or anyone in Taiwan would want to be ChineseDude, Hong Kong is 4 times richer than mainland China and Taiwan around 5 times, both areas want nothing to do with China because they see themselves as faaar more advanced with better quality of life.
Same to Kenya.
There are people from all over the world of all colors who are proud to call themselves Kenyan. Black,White,Asian,Arab.
How many Nigerians can even call themselves Nigerians given the poor reputation Nigeria has!!!
As a Kenyan, I would never ever EVER want to be confused for a 419 scammer, drug dealer, human trafficker or those people who marry fat white women in the UK in the name of getting a UK passport. Our peple are not know for that!!!
Not even a Malawian would want to be confused for a Nigerian

Hahahaha.
No Norwegian would want to be American? Are you sure? There are almost a million Norwegian americans. Check again.
All these small developed countries will always stand on their little pride but when American artistes visit their countries, you see them fainting in their numbers and their women going beserk. Americans hardly give a Bleep about what's happening in Canada, Norway, Sweden e.t.c but go to these small countries you see them reading and learning about USA day and night. They follow US elections even more than their country's elections. They all want to speak American English, they all want to copy and dress like American stars while Americans hardly care about their existence. They cannot do a minute without US inventions, how many more can i mention? WHAT A TERRIBLE AND FAKE WAY TO BE PROUD.

This is why i love the Chinese. Their pride is not just on their lips. They do without US inventions. They do not worship American artistes and media and never think of copying American culture.

Yes, Hong kongese and Taiwanese may have better standards of living than Chinese, but do you know how China controls their lives? They think and dream about the Chinese day and night. They cannot do without the Chinese media and influence.
Taiwan today is not a member of the UN. They cannot form an alliance with another country because China forbade them to and they dare not think of disobeying China (because not even USA would risk helping them when China descends on them).

Hong Kong is living on bought time, just like Taiwan. In few decades to come, the colonial agreement btw China and UK will end and China will be able to do whatever they like with Hong Kong. Is that what you call a country to be proud of?
Majority of Hong Kong people are embittered today because Beijing's candidate won the leadership of their country. So, right now their country is as good as a puppet state to China grin

Most in Kenyan Cities Have No Access to Clean Water
A recent survey estimates that less than half of Kenyans living in urban areas have access to safe water. Meanwhile, other Kenyans are coping with water rationing measures. Experts blame the shortage on corruption and global warming.

In a section of Nairobi's Mukuru slum, , one of many slums in the capital, thousands of people purchase their water from just 74 taps. They often walk far distances and carry heavy containers to get that water to their homes.
cry
"Because of the water problem, we wake up very early since you can see that I am normally very busy with my work which if I don't do, we won't get anything to eat. So this forces me to wake up at 4am to go and fetch water," said Mukuru resident Jane Mwangi.

Meanwhile, in Nairobi's central business district, private water suppliers are becoming an increasingly common sight as office buildings can go for days without water.

Most middle-class homes receive water only three or four days a week because of a country-wide rationing program.

A recent survey by Transparency International-Kenya and the development group Maji na Ufanisi estimates that only half of Kenyans have access to clean, safe water. Some 25 percent of Kenyans get clean water through pipes, either at public water taps or in their homes.

Particularly vulnerable are slum dwellers, who comprise some 60 percent of Nairobi's population. Activists say slums are generally ignored by the government, so services such as water tend to be scarce in those areas.

Edward Kairu is executive director of the development group Maji na Ufanisi.

He estimates that about 70 percent of Kenya's water problems actually are due to corruption and inefficiencies in the water system.

The biggest cause of the water shortage, says Kairu, comes from deteriorating pipes and infrastructure, some of which has not been replaced for 50 years.

"In some cities like Nairobi, we may be losing anywhere above 30 percent of the water that is treated - that is a lot of water that is wasted," he said. "Added to that, we also have a lot of illegal connections."

Transparency International executive director Job Ogonda describes the second major cause.

"Most of the corruption happens in the diversion of water from its legal flow to either politically connected flow or flow to people who have bribed for it to flow their way," he said.

The report says that, as a result of this and other corruption, more than half of water consumed for domestic purposes is unaccounted for, while the government is collecting only 20 percent of the fees due from large water users.

Robert Gakubia is CEO of Kenya's Water Services Regulatory Board. He says that the government has been battling poor management in the water sector.

"You can get out laws, get out guidelines, try to monitor, enforce compliance and all that, but if in practical sense there is no investment to support those works, you know that as you give the orders, you know that the problem of mobilizing resources takes much longer," he explained.

For now, many Kenyans are recycling the little water they have to make it last as long as possible.

People being patriotic about their country is majorly subjective to perceptions.
1.One could be proud for the potentialities, attainments of his country, and can equally be unproud of things like corruption, terrorism, political instability.
2.people wanting breakup,is a sign of dissatisfaction with status quo, hence the need for renegotiation of the country's existence,if conditions can be met, then bargains are reached, and they become better for it.the carlexit is gaining momemtum, some uk seeking another referendum, the catalans initially waved the spanish flag, but today the calls for disintegration is increasing.
3.some of the nations with good image, and visa ish,at sometimes past in the phase of their nation building equally had awfull image and perception too,but the story is changed today, such are part of the gradual phases we talking here.,,iraq with one of the worst visa today, was better of post sadam era, untill the us and her allied coalition invasion, look at libya today, can same be said for the post gadaffi era,now trump is accussing al assad of chemical disemination, with their western media pushing the trajectory of make beleive.
4.come to think of it,would such negative perception be the true reflection of reality, going by such analogy it means that every nigerian could be evil, init?

Perfect explanation

To answer your question,

Because we were told by our colonial masters that our languages are primitive. They were excluded from the education system and even now, you can't get employed without English to the most sought jobs. That is in the English colonies,

Let's see, we have actual water companies that provide actual water. Unlike Nigeria where most Lagosians and Abujans rely on boreholes.Nairobi gets its water from Ndakaini,Sasumua and Ruiru dams in Central Kenya.
Mombasa pumps its water from Mzima Springs(near Mt Kilimanjaro),Baricho in River Galana and Shimba Hills.
Kikumu from Lake Victoria etc
We have stable power supply.
We do have tarmac roads that end at our doorsteps.
We have sewer systems even in the smallest towns like my rural home town has a sewer system that uses trickle technology to treat the water. The town barely has 10,000 people. And that is the norm across Kenya.
Nigeria has federal governments that basically provide little or no such services. In fact ,I read that Lagos got its sewer system in the 90s shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked.Eeerm.My rural town had its sewer system in the 50s.
and Piped water serves barely 20 percent of the population of Lagos. In Nairobi, even slums have water kiosks where they buy water from Nairobi water

Government handles water distributions in Nigeria though very poor.

You listed 4 basic infrastructures: 1, water
2, light
3, Tarmac roads
4, sewage system

Abuja has all those save one
Some parts of Lagos has all those save one(light) while many places in Lagos has all those save two (light and sewage system).

Abuja is a better planned city than all the best cities in Kenya. grin

Water is well connected in major cities including my small town but people don't pay bills and this acts doesn't encourage the government to perform better.

Unfortunately, once government blocks flow of water, people decides to go the easy way by digging boreholes. But now in some cities you must pay taxes on every boreholes you dig.

Now, tell me more about the infrastructures on ground in Kenya cities that are better than Nigeria. grin

Unfortunately, once government blocks flow of water, people decides to go the easy way by digging boreholes. But now in some cities you must pay taxes on every boreholes you dig.

Now, tell me more about the infrastructures on ground in Kenya cities that are better than Nigeria. grin
There is a dearth of information regarding water, sanitation and all things appertaining on Nigeria on the internet. Even your federal/state agencies are wanting You just hit a brick wall everytime you try and research. Its frustrating, hence the only way we can solve this is for a knowledgeable head to weigh in.
Until then , i will have to rely on what I've been told by a first hand observer and what Obi1kenobi has affirmed. That is there is no organised and standardised water and sewer reticulation in Nigeria.

Ps: You can tax folks all you want when they dig boreholes. Is that sustainable. With septic tanks all up and down the place. would you trust the water you drink? Dont you think regulation is a good and Necessary thing?

To answer your question,

Because we were told by our colonial masters that our languages are primitive. They were excluded from the education system and even now, you can't get employed without English to the most sought jobs. That is in the English colonies,

This is untrue. Most countries maintain English as their official language because of linguistic diversity. Many African countries (especially the Southern ones) have native official languages because they are more homogenous.
