TheGoodJoe: I marvel at your analysis sometimes son...simply went for his leg and not the ball... if son had touch the ball with his feet it would have been different... I guess u know more than the commentators and analysts u first said..alli was just ordinary all through the match...his ball control bla bla was poor.. same alli I watched today played well..he was so deadly upfront your analysis is ridden wit sentiment I think 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Nothing unique here really. The morden way to train strikers is to first develop them in the wings then later convert. I think Kelechi would have developed better if he started out his Man city career as a Right winger then later converted into a striker a few years later. Playing on the wings allows a player the liberty to take people on and polish the creative side of his game. And also develop the strength and conditioning of the said player. Iheanacho was on that pedestal at the cadet level, unfortunately he was converted too soon to a striker in my opinion. Martial is also suffering as a result of this. He was converted too quickly to a no9 by Man Utd. I will have to watch more of Jesus to have a strong opinion of him. But from what I know of Firmino from his days in Germany, he was a top quality ATM /SS. All in my opinion. |

TheSuperNerd: same thing with Mikel... the only problem is we have no replacement for him presently in SE..because should he start sitting on the bench in SE games... I guess he will have a rethink how can you fight for your place in a team...when you're not given the chance to do so..... there is a difference between fighting for your place when given the opportunity and not being given at all.... 1 Like |

Tell that to that philosophical "genius" called Pepper Guardiola.... or is it Pep? Abeg... #ObservationMode activated.... I just wanna trust Iheanacho knows what he is doing... it is his career after all... not mine... I just want the best for Nigerian football just as I dreamt of it since I was a little baby kid. TheGoodJoe: U must not have watched it well. Moses did not dive, he made sure Son missed the ball and he absorbed the contact. This was a top play made by a smart player. In this day and age u don't go on ground unless u are a 1000% sure u will win the ball, I just don't get how people don't understand that. 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: A bag of rocks could have started for man city this season, their defence was that poor. Trippier is young and English, Pep might even put in a bid because he would fit city's system just fine. |

Xzbit91:Brazil will benefit more with the flourishing partnership of Firmino and Coutinho. World Cups have proven to be won by teams with a very close unit and relationship among players from the club level. The nucleus of the Spanish world cup winning team was Barcelona/ Real Madrid. Germany had the nucleus of their team from Bayern Munich. Italy had Milan/Juventus/Inter forming the nucleus of their 06 winning team. I can go on.... Here is the average age of the past world cup winners from 2010 down.
From this data you can see things for yourself. Numbers don't lie. When I recommended Firmino(will be 26 next year) should start ahead of Jesus at the world cup, I was not blabbing. If Ighalo was in the form which he was last season, he should definitely be starting. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Firmino can play just about anywhere from the midfield to the no 9. He has two very excellent feet, deadly from free kicks, skillful, unselfish, highly tactical. He has everything in his locker, jokes apart. |

goldfish80: Those forward players who start as creative attack midfielders have a sweet touch when it comes to attacking. A good example is watching how Van Persie plays his attack. They do not rely on taking players on the run but intelligent movement off the ball. That is what Nacho gained from starting off as a ten. Although, the Vieira trained Iheanacho was sweet. |

Arsenal: Alex Iwobi Must Honour His Uncle’s Call For Perseverance Alex Iwobi has seen his position in the Arsenal squad diminish. He must now honour his Uncle’s call for perseverance and work his way back to prominence. The development of young players is a turbulent ride. As ever with raw, unpolished, unrefined talents, they will always enjoy times of searing success, where their youthful exuberance shines through, alongside times of great struggle, where their inexperience and naivety plagues their performances. Arsenal have experienced this on a number of occasions. It is a reason why Arsene Wenger has grown enormously patient as he harnesses the natural talent of many of his players. He is willing to endure the times of trouble as they grow in their consistency as they age. The latest star who is benefitting from Wenger’s tutelage with young players is Alex Iwobi. The Nigerian burst onto the scene a little over a year ago, with a series of dynamic, direct displays, showcasing a willingness to drive at opposing defences and a guile and nous to engineer opportunities and create chances. However, more recently, struggles, as they always do, have come. Wenger has subsequently dropped Iwobi from the first team squad, providing him with an element of protection and safety amid growing criticism from fans. And now there are suggestions that a loan departure could be the best course of action to further his career. That is not the opinion of his Uncle, though. Jay-Jay Okocha has stated that he believes Iwobi should stay in North London and fight for his starting role: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z7g3z8i1b8 “We can’t forget that this is his first full season in the first team and Arsenal have all their players back now. There’s a lot of competition, so it’s not easy. I think it’s better for him to stay at Arsenal, because the style of play suits him perfectly. It might not be easy for him to go on loan and adapt somewhere else. He needs to stay and fight for his shirt." Okocha is acutely aware of the natural struggles that come with being a young player. His advice for Iwobi is simple and safe: keep working hard, be resilient and determined, show perseverance and grit, and success will come as a result. It is now up to Iwobi to honour such demands. He is undoubtedly a talented player who, if he works hard, has a bright future ahead of him. Although his recent struggles are disappointing, they are not all that surprising, and can be worked through. It will simply take patience, resilience and whole lot of dedication. BascoVanVeli: Watch the replay. All these going to ground does not hit the point I was making. Moses was going to ground before Son Contacted him. It is clear as daylight. The reason Victor Moses was going down before the contact is because he dived. |

TheGoodJoe: Van persie was a winger when Arsenal got him from Feyernod. A lot of renound managers have said they prefer developing young players on the wing first because they develop their speed and skills out wide. I was particularly elated when I heard K. Nwakali was being developed out wide. |

Jay-Jay Okocha: Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi has developed “really quickly” By Jeorge Bird 22nd Apr 2017 Former Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha insists that his nephew Alex Iwobi has developed very quickly at Arsenal . Iwobi broke into the Arsenal first-team in the second half of last season with some composed performances and, although his chances have been limited of late, the prospect remains part of the Gunners’ squad. As reported by the Daily Mirror , ex-Bolton Wanderers star Okocha said: “Alex and I speak a lot and he is not just my nephew, but like a son to me. “Alex has always shown signs of becoming a great player, but his development has been really quick compared to some of the young players in his youth team. “He is not only a good player, but he has capitalised on his opportunities that he has been given more than others around him.” An efficient distributor of the ball – he has a pass accuracy of 87% in the Premier League this season – Iwobi is well suited to Arsenal’s style of play. However, he lacks ruthlessness in front of goal, as showcased by the fact that he has found the net just three times in the top-flight this term. Alex Iwobi has played 22 key passes in the Premier League this season. Iwobi hasn’t started for Arsenal since the defeat to Liverpool on 4th March and faces a battle just to get a place on the bench for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City. It will be intriguing to see whether Iwobi has a major part to play for Arsenal next season, especially if manager Arsene Wenger seeks to bring in another wide player during the transfer window. How productive has Alex Iwobi been for Arsenal? Premier League: 37 games, five goals, six assists Champions League: nine games, one goal, one assist FA Cup: eight games, three assists League Cup: three games Alex Iwobi has completed 62% of his attempted take-ons in the Premier League this season. Xzbit91: Firmino and Coutinho work day in day out at Liverpool, you must factor that in your argument. Neymar and Jesus will be facing more solid teams in Russia than they faced at the Olympics. The World Cup is a different ball game trust me. Coutinho and Firmino combo is more tried, tested and trusted playing for Liverpool in the Premiership with Champions league football in view next season. It will be interesting to watch them Light up the world cup. Yes it took a while before Brazil recognised Coutinho's talent but he has grabbed his chance with both hands over the past 2 years. There's always a time for everyone to shine. This is his time and he's been proving to be dependable so far. |
