Vincent Enyeama Hints NFF, Rohr To Decide Fate Over Super Eagles Return

Vincent Enyeama has deflected questions regarding his return to the national team, ahead of the African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Cameroon.

The Lille goalkeeper called time on his international career with the Super Eagles in 2015 after a publicized dispute with ex-coach Sunday Oliseh, who stripped him of the captaincy for reporting late to camp.

There has been talk in some quarters that Enyeama may return to the team but he has hinted that the decision is not in his hands, or in other words the Nigerian Federation and manager Rohr will have to decide whether they want him or not.

A Twitter user, @Past_laur asked Enyeama : ''are you coming back to the eagles''

Enyeama answered : ''Hmmmmm.dat (that) question is not mine to answer. As of today.''

The 33-year-old has officially been named the best goalkeeper in Africa three times in the last seven years, and was part of Nigeria's squad at the 2002, 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Exclusive : NPFL Top Scorer Stephen Odey Turn Down Genk Trial Offer

Top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Stephen Odey has turned down an offer of trial from Belgium side Genk in the summer.

Odey was invited by the team for trails in the summer, but the 19 year old who is currently the top scorer in the NPFL with 14 goals for MFM FC rejected their offer.

”He won’t be attending trials anywhere in Europe. Not only in Belgium, we also got offers from Denmark but we won’t take any of them. Genk were most serious but Odey won’t be going for trial”, a source close to the player told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”The one thing I can tell you is that he will most likely leave in the summer. Talks with some teams are already at an advanced stage, unless an offer comes in from Europe, he will most likely move to a top team in Africa.

”His manager has made it clear, he wants to cash in on his form to help him move abroad but at the same time, It’s not just about going abroad, it’s about getting the right deal for the player who still needs to develop further “.

The Nigeria Football Federation gets financial boost
By Oluwashina Okeleji
BBC Sport, Lagos

The Nigeria Football Federation has had financial difficulties in recent years with coaches and players often going months without being paid

The cash-strapped Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has received a financial boost from an energy company worth around US$9.2 million over the next five years.

The deal with the Aiteo Group will commence on 1 May.

"This will make it easier for us to plan adequately for our national teams," NFF boss Amaju Pinnick said.

"It is important to note that this will also take care of the national team coaches' salaries."

Pinnick hopes that this means no repeats of problems paying national team coaches that has troubled the NFF in the past.

"There will be no owing of coaches for the next five years," he added.

"This lucrative deal with Aiteo will cover all the national teams and has an option of a one-year extension."

"We are happy to have a sponsor come in at this crucial time and this is a big boost for our football."

Former Nigeria coaches Christian Chukwu, Shaibu Amodu,
Samson Siasia, Austin Eguavoen, Sunday Oliseh and the late Stephen Keshi have all previously complained about outstanding salaries in recent years.

NIGERIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATIONS VOWS TO REACH 2019 AFCON AND 2018 WORLD CUP

Ogenyi Onazi in the background in action for Nigeria vs Algeria

The Nigerian Football Federation has promised that everything is in place to see the national team qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

According to the NFF's spokesman Ademola Olajire, he said the federation is working hard to see coach Gernot Rohr and his team reach the 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup.

The Super Eagles will face South Africa in a 2019 AFCON qualifier in June, with the former African champions seeking a return to the tournament after missing the last two editions.

In August, Nigeria will play African champions Cameroon in their crucial qualifier en route to Russia.

“We are on course, everything has been put in place for the two games against South Africa and Cameroon,” said Olajire to the Daily Post.

“The Federation is doing everything possible to make sure we qualify for the Nations Cup and the World Cup.

“As you are already aware, we took a tour of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and it has been approved for the game.

“We have also written to the Akwa Ibom State Government as regards what needs to be done to get the stadium ready.

“The Technical and Development Committee is also working hand in hand with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to get the team ready.

“The committee is constantly in touch with Rohr and they are expecting him to give a list of players he wants to use to prosecute the matches. He has a free hand to pick whoever he wants.

“Once this is done, the committee, alongside the coach will sit down and fine tune the squad so that everything is in place. We are leaving nothing at ensuring the best legs prosecute these games.”

I thought this friendly match was being used to prepare for our games against South Africa and Cameroun? Why then are they talking about a November date - long after our two most important games? We need games in June to help Rohr try out a few new players to incorporate into the team.

Very few European clubs will offer an NPFL player a contract without trial. Chisom Egbuchulam was the league's best player last year and went through a series of trials before his loan move. Obaje also went on trial.

Many of these clubs do not have scouts watching the NPFL and they do not trust the quality of the league. So, even if you come with your resume as the league top scorer, it weighs little. Even North African sides will offer trial.

Odey should go for the Genk trial. It is an excellent place to start his career if successful.

They were either in the process of finalizing their deals or just finalized the deals. They had not gone to Europe. So it was never a case of sending invitation letters to a foreign club to release them. Which Chukwueze is a foreign pro? Someone that's on IG taking pishure upandan. All I keep reading is Chukwueze to Arsenal, deal falls through. Chukwueze to Porto, deal falls through. Chukwueze to Villareal, last I read was small details remaining to finalize d deal. Next I'd see is Chukwueze scores for Shooting stars... Why was Enogela not involved with the under20s and his position usurped by Gavi Thompson? Cos Enogela decided to go pursue clubs in Europe. I think Amuneke excluded foreign based or foreign club pursuing players from d initial qfs so as to eliminate over reliance on them.

So how was he able to drag out Nwakali, Osimhen, Chukwueze and Okonkwo for the "screening process " or was there no screening process for the quartet?

If that team had gone to the ABC, they would have tortured many bigger looking teams. Ask a guy called Mowiz and some people that got to see them play. Their pressing and organization had no semblance of a Nigerian team. They lost out due to their inability to adopt a kick and follow approach on a water logged TB stadium in Lagos. Heard before the rain started wearing it the pitch they were running rings around the Sudanese.

Has there been any Nigerian team that has enjoyed the best of conditions? Was it not in your very eyes that the Rio team landed at the airport and few hrs later went to play Japan and still won?

Official : FC Porto Hooks Mikel Till 2021, Buy-Out Clause Now €30m

Portuguese top division side FC Porto have announced through official channels that Nigerian midfielder Mikel Agu has extended his contract with the team till 2021.

The 23 year old has grown into an influential player for his loan side Vitoria Setubal this season. A form that has now earn him fresh terms with the Portuguese giants.

Shortly after signing the dotted lines, the hard tackling defensive midfielder said he is ready for the challenge of breaking into the first team as early as next season.

He thanked FC Porto for their faith in him despite all that happened in the past few years, apparently referring to the numerous injury battles he had plus a failed loan stint with Club Brugge of Belgium.

Following his contract extension Porto might end up having as many as four Nigerians in their team next season with Musa Yahaya, Chidozie Awaziem and Fidelis Irhene also pushing for a spot in the first team.

OK, but I thought Rohr said that he needs two friendly matches to prepare for the South Africa and Cameroun matches?

Anyway, let's hope that we are NOT counting our chickens before they hatch. We need to make sure that we are well prepared to qualify before we start making preparations for the big dance.; especially considering that, unlike Cameroun, we missed a big chance to make the team jell at the AFCON.

Tammy Abraham Ranked Chelsea's Top Player, Super Eagles Star Omeruo Ninth

England U21 international of Nigerian descent Tammy Abraham has been rated the top Chelsea player loaned out this season.

Squawka.com has ranked all the 37 players on loan based on their performances for their temporary clubs, and three players of Nigerian descent made their list.

Current Chelsea Academy Player of the Year Fikayo Tomori ranked 19th on the list. The central defender or full back joined Premier League new boys Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window and has featured in seven games.

In ninth position is Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo, who has flourished in the Turkish Super Lig with Alanyaspor, where he has made 22 appearances.

Of the three Nigerian players mentioned, he is the only one yet to debut for the first team of Chelsea. Omeruo ranked higher than Ghanaian stars Christian Atsu and Baba Rahman.

The top dog is Bristol City striker Tammy Abraham. The tall striker is the second top scorer in the Championship with 23 goals to his name.

Abraham could be playing in the Premier League next season, perhaps not with Chelsea, as Newcastle United, Everton and Leicester City are keeping tabs on his availability.

A few years ago, I would've taken Omeruo over Cahill but those days are long gone. Only Jose Mourinho can say why he didn't bring Kenneth to Chelsea in 2013. Yes, he was good enough to play for Chelsea at that time. Many of these loan spells haven't really helped him game progressed at all.

On the contrary that would even spur the lad to do well.

You don't give him excuse to fail.

For eg I attended a University that if you have lectures at 7:00am you have to be in class by 6am else you'll have to take ur lectures peeping through the windows.

If someone comes to me to complain about he facing similar conditions, as I am not in a position to build him a lecture theater I'll simply tell him 'that was what I also went through during my time so no excuses for failure'.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not in support of what the NFF did.

But u must know there is never an ideal situation especially when dealing with the government.
