Stanbic gave me 17.15% today for 330 days. I guess the figures dip when you're buying from the secondary market. |

nastydamus: nope. Depends on whats available. Some banks also limit your options to 3 tenors FBN has a variety including the fantastic 18% for 63 days! |

OakPearl: I don't think so, FBN capital has already asked their less than 50m naira customers to go elsewhere because they don't do secondary market. |

For Stanbic you can do Tbills from #500k to #50m, and what you eventually get as your interest will be so close to the stop rate, however for other banks you just have to submit your own quoted rate if you know what's best for you. On the new #50m rule, If your bank is saying gibberish, just move to Stanbic no time, you can get 0.1 less the stop rate if you go with the bank's rate, it is that close. 1 Like 1 Share |

jpphilips: FBN Capital is one in how many banks in the industry? That they don't do it doesn't mean it is impossible. For your information, they are the reason I now deal with Stanbic IBTC as I had to relocate my investment for the same reason. Would you rather remain with them, fold your hands and watch your funds idle away because they won't bulge, while you miss out on opportunities available elsewhere? I doubt. |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by jpphilips(m): 6:06pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
chukzyfcbb: There are two types of debts, local and Foreign, TBN is a form of Local debt that printing more money can curb unlike the foreign debt that rely strictly on your foreign exchange earnings. Printing more money will definitely increase the inflation bar, however, as more people benefit from the high interest rate, their principal left behind curb inflation as well, in other words, it is not rocket science for the CBN to create an equilibrium in the process, over time, there shouldn't be any significant loss for the investors and the nation. 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by zamirikpo(m): 7:13pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
okochaik: it all depends on the rate u get, 365days as at the last auctions attracted rates between 18 - 18.9%... so ur interest would be between 540,000 - 567,000. as the case may be. and its paid upfront. The upfront interest kills it for me, nothing beats paying me upfront. 2 Likes 1 Share |

If you are new to TBills, you can learn a lot from this thread. However, if you find it tedious to scroll through the pages, gathering the information you need about it bit by bit, from page to page before investing, you might consider reading this article I've put together. Based on what I've learnt from this wonderful thread over the long stay. It will help you understand TBills at a glimpse and help you get all the info you need to start investing in one place. http://www.techdavids.com/2017/04/how-to-invest-in-nigerian-treasury-bills.html 2 Likes 1 Share |

Uchefrancis16:Many thanks to Uchefrancis16 for the attached article on Nigerian Treasury bills. Quite informative especially for someone who is new to the market, and considering wether to invest. I similarly share the writer's opinion as per my personal experience, that as of now (as things may change later), Stanbic bank seems to be the best in the market, and Zenith bank is not one of the good ones when it comes to Treasury bills. Zenith bank is of the habit of offering much lower interest rates to their customers, (and Stanbic the highest interest rates) from the CBN stop/marginal rates. |

Uchefrancis16: Nice write up. Straight forward too. You didn't state how much minimum one can invest. is it only million million? or can lesser amounts be invested. what's the practical minimum? |
