Manchester City Loanee Nwakali Scores Brilliant Goal From Outside The Box Manchester City loanee Chidiebere Nwakali opened his goalscoring account for Sogndal in their 6-1 rout of Fjoera in the Norwegian Cup on Wednesday evening. The Nigeria youth international penned a short-term contract with the Tippeligaen side in the winter transfer market and has gone on to make five appearances in the league before today's meeting at Fosshaugane Campus. Nwakali broke the deadlock after seven minutes when he volleyed the ball home from 20 yards. The defensive minded player is slowly establishing a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder, having netted four goals in his debut season as a professional. Elsewhere, Nigeria's most in-form player in Scandinavia, Ohi Anthony Omoijuanfo, scored his eighth and ninth goal of the season for Stabaek. They beat his former team Holmlia 9-1, with the former Norway U21 international registering his name on the scorecard in the 36th and 52nd minute. **Ifeanyi Emmanuel Photo Credit : sogndalfotball.no Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22848 1 Like |

Why Monaco Are Yet To Announce Signing Of Moses Simon Despite Postive Talks With Gent High flying French Ligue 1 side Monaco are presently locked in talks with Gent of Belgium over a possible deal in the summer for dashing winger Moses Simon according to Belgium publication Voetbalkrants.com. Monaco have resigned to losing some of their top stars after a stellar season in France and Europe, with the team currently leading the Ligue 1 table and also through to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. The club views Simon as a player who can replaced some of their stars who are expected to leave in the summer, and suggestions are that the deal is almost near completion as both parties are eager for the move to go through. Presently what is holding the deal is a compromise on what will be the sell on clause due to Gent, if the 23 year old leaves Monaco in a few years time, and the duration which the clause will last. Reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com sources has it that Monaco are willing to pay £12M for his services, plus the promise of first team football which will sway him their way ahead of English Premier League side West Brom who are also interested in his services. Simon wants to represent Nigeria at next summer World Cup in Russia, if Nigeria qaualifies and will only accept a move to a team that will assure him of their plans for him as regards playing time. **Osas Mahawi. BascoVanVeli: Yes what was done was despicable and should never be accepted. But it will still repeat itself. It has been happening. You heard of Buhari rewarding the 1985 Eaglets the houses and scholarship promised them after 30yrs? It is not right but it is not new. People have thrived under such conditions. For now, there is nothing icon4s can do to stop it. I can only complain at best. |

Are u telling me that if the next dream team are forced to miss their flight and show up late for a match u would blame them for losing? It just does not add up. 1 Like |

Humility017: This very impressive Sir. ‘I can solve Super Eagles goalkeeping problem’ By Jude Opara As Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr continues to mull over the goalkeeping problem facing the team, an American based goalkeeper, Joel Isyag says he has what it takes to fill that gap. Isyag who stands at over 6.2ft just signed for the Super Eagles. Football Club of Maryland has already become his team’s first choice shot-stopper with over six clean sheets in his last games with other individual awards. Recall that first choice goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has been ruled out for the rest of the season, even as the team is preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against African champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon as well as the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in June. Speaking from his base in the USA, the Kaduna State-born Isyag who will turn 21 this May said he is optimistic that his inclusion in the national team will make that position more competitive. “I know that composure, positioning, sharp reflexes, agility, techniques, anticipation, ball handling, coupled with great saves are just some of the attributes of a good goalkeeper and I truly have them all. The Super Eagles have been having goalkeeping challenges since the Lille of France safe hands; Vincent Enyeama quit the national team. The discovery of Ikeme helped to stabilize the defence for sometime but Rohr seems not to have confidence on his assistants, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi. |

Nigerian Whizz-Kid Scores 24th Goal Of The Season As Chelsea Win FAYC For Fourth Year Running Defending champions Chelsea retained the FA Youth Cup after recording a 5-1 win over Manchester City in the final second leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. The Young Blues led 2-0 at the break and 3-1 on aggregate, courtesy of goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Chelsea Academy poster boy Ike Ugbo, who was joined in the starting line-up by Nigerian midfielder Tariq Uwakwe. On 24 minutes, Ugbo finished off acrobatically after an inviting cross from Sterling, his tenth goal in the competition this season. Dujon Sterling made it 4-1 on 65 minutes with a brilliant finish inside the near post after he was played down the flank by Ugbo. Chelsea's other scorers in the second half were Callum Hudson-Odoi and Cole Dasilva after Nmecha had reduced the deficit six minutes out of intermission. Manchester City's Nigerian midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru subbed in with nine minutes left on the clock, same time Uwakwe was substituted while Ugbo got replaced in the 78th minute. The game was attended by Tammy Abraham, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Antonio Conte and Roman Abramovich. **Igho Kingsley Photo Credit : chelseafc.com Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22850 1 Like |

Icon4s: not really I think if the lad is really playing in the MLS at his age...he should be looked into... MLS is not a bad league to scout good goal keepers. I sincerely believe our problem is not the absence of good goal keepers but the fear and unwillingness to give young goalies the chance to prove their worth... 4 Likes |

goldfish80: If it happens that would be fantastic news. I truly believe you can't be playing in a low level club and then all of a sudden become a lion in the world cup. SE players need to be playing at top clubs in the top European leagues to improve. Currently, playing in Turkey, Finland, Norway, Bosnia etc is simply not good enough. 1 Like |

Icon79: At no time have I considered Omeruo on par or better than Cahill. Football is about opportunity, he went to Middlesbrough on loan in the championship, he did OK but that's all. The Championship gives you an opportunity to put a direct claim for the EPL his performances didn't make such a claim. Tega Abrahams comparatively has gone to Lowly Bristol and made an indisputable loud mouthed resounding claim to be in the EPL. Omeruo is simply not good enough, as a wing back for the SE he is just adequate, I am hoping Aina will end that handicap. |

Mickael2: You think Monaco were not scared and shocked as well? Even if the game was replayed this morning, they will still win. They are that good. I will be surprised if Juventus can contain Europe's most scoring team. Those guys have scored triple figures goals this season with games still to play. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 8:41am On Apr 27, 2017 |
Icon4s: This is exactly why I have even advocating for the Nff looking from home and developing home grown talents, not depending on foreign nations to develop players while we take the easy option to lurch in the corner and stake claim these players. When we can't get them, we throw tantrums and cry foul. I will share a first hand experience when I was in secondary school, a friend of mine James used to be fastest sprinter in the school. He was clocked by our games master running sub 12 seconds in a 100 meters dash at Js 3. This guy haven't met a trainer in his life, he doesn't know anything about diets and haven't trained at a high performance training centre. If he had undergone some of these training programmes, we would be looking at an African record holder before he turned 18 and probably a multiple Olympic gold/silver medalist. All that is past tense, he is now working in a chilled ac office and probably haven't done 2 push ups in donkey years. A lot of talents slip through our fingers in this country in astronomical numbers that even those we call our best aren't really the best. 1 Like |
