Please don't attack me for i speak the truth.

Sometimes you are doing too much all of us want to see some F-15 like jets in our inventory, watch tge documentary and you will understand. The Nigerian Air Forces hasnt been funded like we should but today things are changing. You must be patient. For now I am very optimistic the political class and the military are more than willing to do more dont want to be suprised by another futur conflict. Just take a look at our resent acquisition, we acquire a full Mi-35M with everything from avionics to NVision. Tucanos are coming, Jf-17 even those babys are taking so much time we can understand with the fact that Pak cant build jets faster...be patient things are changing

Some people and their stupid comments, this is how threads get derailed. When you know very well you just spewed an insult against a country whose people are very well present here. Maybe it's an airforce with trainers and transport planes, I'm pretty sure you know Nigerians on here will take issues with that slight .
am more focused on the truth not on peoples opinion

As well as you and Airborne360, there are other Nigerian soldiers in the thread, as well as South-African navy, army and air force contributors. We also have a Namibian soldier and an Indian soldier/contractor.

Including civilians from 6 different African countries who by the way do the most of the posting.

As you say, it's a fantastic thread, however without the contribution of every individual in the thread there would be nothing fantastic for you to see and comment on. We hope to see non-classified photos from you, no b siddon look matter.

So once more, you're welcome.

exactly bro,I'm pretty sure everyone here loves the truth...
we lack some vital air assets,we all know(no country has it all)

but how you would come on an international forum and tell the world how "bad" ur country is,baffles me a lot.
it defies common sense bro.

there're other threads to vent ur anger on the nation if u wish..this is not the right place bro.

"very soon" is too vague. Hope they will not paint it in camo?

Also, you may have an insight into why we are hell bent on getting the F16 that will never come to us. Why not go for the SUs?

I'd rather not comment, but seeing that ignorant comment made by that individual is beginning to derail the thread, I'm forced to drop this comment.

A drunken comment made by a sober individual does not represent facts.

The Nigerian Air Force flies 11 F-7 fighter jets as it's primary air defence system.

When deliveries are complete, the number of Attack Helicopters in the NAF inventory would rise to 24.

Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles 5 units.

MI-17 combat Assault helicopters - at least 2 confirmed units, number expected to rise to 6.

Alpha Jets Trainer/light ground Attack - 24 units

L-39za trainer/light attack - 18 units.

The Nigerian Air Force has in it's service 84 offensive aircrafts. You can easily fact check and verify yourself.

*But then, even insane individuals are entitled to their own opinions. That's the beauty of a democracy.

Its quite hilarious how some of our Nigerian fellows defend the military here on Nairaland like this their fathers compound. Any resemblance of truth or objectiveness is quickly attacked like sharks smelling blood. Well i don't comment or post for anybody to like. i just say what i observe on ground kowai.

You must tow the line of complacency. well some of us don't feel like worshiping mediocrity.

whenever the military decides to act right then they'll earn my respect.

When we have a decent AIR DEFENCE Aircraft or Surface to air system then i can recognize them. pssst 11 F7 junks, mig 21 clones. go to Chinese war museum and see dozens of them lined up for show. air defence fighters my foot. , mediocrity more like it

Wonder what I did to the guy(Air Force rights activist Lionel) ohhh... Boys just post fine picture of NAF albatross. And he started shouting "don't attack me before I speak the truth"

NAF pilots are getting the job done with what they have for now and instead of Lionel to encourage them, he comes here to lash out whenever he's in his feelings.

Most of them drag their insanity online, straight down to this thread. Does this thread look like Defence Headquarters or Aso Rock Villa were they come to pour the frustrations of their daily lives?

They don't know were Buhari lives.

How is it that you share photos from views we have never seen before only for some random person to piss pour on the efforts other individuals make to make this beautiful thread going.

Lionel this is a thread in the foreign affairs section of Nairaland.com

It is not Defence HQ neither is it Aso Rock Villa.

It is definitely not a clinic for psychological therapy. angry angry

Please take your frustrations elsewhere.

i simply stated that the'airforce of trainer and transport plane' fullstop.

what is incorrect here? the NAF operates four different trainer platforms

L-39ZA
Dassault Alpha jet
Aermacchi MB-339
Chengdu J-7

While operating an outdated F7s. also Transport planes which includes...
ATR 42
Boeing 737
C-130 Hercules
Aeritalia G.222
Dornier 28
Dornier Do 228
Super King Air
Fslcon 7X

plus others

As.sli.cking aside am i not correct? we have more trainers and transport planes than the whole west African air force combined. Instead of your men to reason objectively they just jumped into the attack. Its so predictable. Even the Air force guys don't defend the Air Force as much as they do.

Hope you know the Chinese still have the J7 in service?

What have you done for the country? Even if it's a single letter to the CAS tell us.

You can as well book a ticket and visit France, UK, US etc and request they give us jets because you know how best to get it.

You call an aircraft junk, I bet you can't mention 10 components present in that aircraft without checking the internet.

You're nothing but an angry man who has no where other than nairaland to show how low he can be.

If you have got nothing profitable to say, keep your opinion to yourself.

Actually, one of the reasons the ZT-3 was chosen as a beamrider was because of experiences with using Milans in the bush.
The reconnaissance reg. used them in some sabre vehicle ops. and the wires got tangled up in branches all the time. Milans were so ineffective that they went back to using recoilless guns on their vehicles.

The first ZT-3's fired by Hannes Nortman and his Ratels against FAPLA tanks were actually pre-production prototypes. The engineers at Kentron were busy with using them as testing rounds when they were taken and put into action in Angola during Moduler on pre-production vehicles.

Hrmnn:

Of course, and I certainly wasn't trying to imply otherwise.

Where I used to live in the Free State (just northeast of Odendaalsrus) the terrain was extremely arid and flat. A Ratel ZT3 would be invariably more useful there than in say, the Angolan bush.

Even more so in parts of the Northern Cape and Namibia where it's much more sparsely vegetated.

I was merely pointing out that's why the Ingwe wasn't used with more success during Ops Moduler, Hooper, and Packer.

I have always held that by studying the battles and tactics of the past we can learn a lot for the future. There is no reason that the lessons of the Angolan war cannot be applied to any other modern conflict.

I did not personally serve in the SADF but I have nothing but the utmost respect for those that did. smiley

AMISOM troops this week delivered relief food to locals, purchased with funds raised by voluntary contributions from the soldiers. The troops also spared three days’ worth of their meals as an act of solidarity with the Somali people in the areas plagued by the drought.

The food was delivered to Bardheere District Hospital, to support over 400 patients admitted there since the outbreak of cholera in the area. AMISOM troops also continue to offer free medical assistance to locals afflicted with drought-related illnesses in their areas of operation.
